The Black Bear Campsite
Beautiful and relaxing; covered picnic area was a major plus; facilities clean. Close to a cute town and within driving distance of Shenandoah national park. We enjoyed walking down to the riverfront and wading. Would recommend!

Great set up! Loved the tent, which was very cozy, and the pavilion with everything you’d need. Fantastic location. Everything was clean and ready and as described. We will be back!

When I researched for a private hip campsite, this was one of two, and I am so excited to say that we will be back! We loved it here. We had 6 acres to ourselves on the river with a lovely yurt that allowed us to spread out with our doggie and the comfortable queen size bed.
When Molly recommended Woodstock café and we also heard about it when at Nancy’s coffee shop in Strasburg, we had to go. And their recommendations were spot on,the food was outstanding, according to my chef boyfriend, and myself. The service was excellent and the ambience was cozy and inviting, casual .
Our second day was spent at the site where the fire pit next to the river, offered a picturesque setting, where we could relax and enjoy our marshmallows! Next time we will bring our fishing rods. But just hanging out at the site was so relaxing and healing. If you are looking for an off grid area Where you can heal from the modern day monstrosities of EMF, look no further!
Molly is the best host! Whenever I had a question, she came back and answered it typically within five minutes, and I had a lot of questions. And,we felt as if there was no one around, and that is what we were, hoping for which was privacy.

Lovely place amazing property and well equipped. Came with our pup, stayed 2 nights, had an amazing time. Tent was really nice, comfy bed. Was a bit chilly in mid-February outside. The heater inside worked quite well. Everything was well thought through.
Though it’s on the owners’ property, it was very private. Would love to come back.

Molly has a lovely glamping tent for couples. My sister and I set up our tent near the river. It was absolutely lovely. Seats to watch the river. Seats around a very nice fire ring. A grill and port-a-potty. Even the toilet was set up. There is a shelter with solar lights and a grill. In fact, solar lights could be found in many spots. It was a lovely and quiet and safe weekend.

My wife and I stayed for two nights to celebrate our 19th weddibg anniversary away from everybody :). Molly's spot was absolutely gorgeous! The tent situation was perfect: comfy bed with blankets, pillows, remote controlled lights, end tables, and it was all very clean. My wife took a picture of the port-o-john to send to friends because it had cute decorations and was very clean. The view of the river and small pond was picturesque. We did a lot of fishing and caught lots of bass and sunfish. We took in the nearby town of Woodstock and tried many of Molly's suggestions which all worked out great: Woodstcok Cafe, Woodstock Tower, and Seven Bend Park. Molly also did an amazing job of being available if needed but for the most part left us alone to enjoy it all. I would recommend to all we know and come again in the future!

The Black Bear Campsite
We had a good experience. The property was green, serene and pleasant. We were completely alone. The porta potty was the cleanest we’ve seen. The river was clear and refreshing. You could wade and there were deep areas! The cover over the food prep and picnic table was super. The night sounds were dreamy. My only advice is to clearly understand this is dry camping. There is no cold shower and the sun shower is a plastic bag. You haul all water in which is a real task. Last day our hostess offered a hose at the house but it’s still hauling and you would need to drive to the house. No power available. That said, we would have extended our stay. We were all set up and we were sitting pretty. Fab chairs arranged to watch the river.

Being right on the river was great! The covered pavilion made food prep and eating stress-free. The dogs loved exploring and swimming. The tent is nice, a bit hot in the afternoon—our portable fans helped. Molly is a fantastic host and gave us great recommendations for food, drink and exploring the area. We’ll be back!

The Black Bear Campsite
Exceptional host and exceptional site! Black bear campsite was amazing and had everything someone looking to get away wants and needs. Molly and her husband were extremely hospitable and they didn’t bother us practically whatsoever. The property sits on a beautiful view of the river and access to the riverbank. Not only that, you can fish in the River and in the pond. The campfire was fully stocked of firewood and the pavilion was amazing for storage and cooking prep. All in all, a great place to stay. Would rate 20 out of 10.

The Black Bear Tent
Serenity on the Shenandoah.
Black Bear has a picturesque overlook of the river which is just right for sitting and napping. The rock jettie is ideal for fishing or launching a kayak/tube/SUP.
The weeping willow island was mine and my dog's favorite. Enough sunshine to comfortably read, enough shade to stay cool, and always a little breeze.
Other than beautiful, the pavilion set Black Bear apart. It provides a large, dedicated space to store and prep food. The convenience and functionality made the whole weekend ideal because we didn't have to think about the small stuff
Molly is 5-star host and offers a premier tent and site for a great Glamping experience.

The best place on hipcamp that we’ve stayed at so far! The tent is clean, and spacious. You still get the camping experience without feeling crammed or sleeping on the ground. The portapotty is kept very clean. The bar/picnic/grilling area is an awesome amenity. Being right on the river is also a bonus. Needless to say we’ll definitely be back!

Molly’s land and camping setup was great! They have thought of most everything you could need! Lots of beautiful wildlife and the store is only a short drive should you forget anything.

Great glamping setup! We were right on the river with steps for easy access so we could carry tubes down to float and play. We spied several small fish, a resident blue heron, some turtles, and lots of cool rocks in the shallows. The fire pit atop the bank had a grate that made cooking dinner a breeze. We prepped at the counter back under the Pavillion and ate there at the picnic table. The solar lights made it all magical as the sun set and the tiki torches kept the bugs at bay. The port-a-potty was super clean and just steps from the tent. As if all this wasn’t enough, our son enjoyed fishing at the catch and release pond while I read in the hammock, a bit of beach ball volleyball (there’s a net set up), and several rounds of horseshoes before roasting marshmallows each night (loads of wood all stacked up for you). And this site is a mere 10-15 mins to several amenities—grocery, dollar store, etc. what a find!

Wow! Molly is a truly amazing host. She has thought of everything. This is the perfect getaway. No need to worry about pitching a tent, a sore back from the ground, finding some place to pee, or building a fire pit. Her attention to detail is phenomenal.
