Mockingbird Farms Tent Camping
Our stay at Mockingbird Farms was perfect! It was our 2 year olds first camping experience and the privacy and safety this land provided was perfect. He adored the donkeys and still can’t stop talking about them. The hosts were so generous to offer the cabin when it started raining and coffee on the cool morning. The outdoor bath also made for an extra relaxing evening. We have already made recommendations to friends and will definitely be back ourselves!

Where do we start? The Boo Radley Bunkhouse was absolutely perfect — the bed was comfortable, and the space was cute, cozy, and well-equipped. The outdoor shower (with hot water!!) was great. And the path from the bunkhouse to the bathroom was easy to follow, which was a plus since we showed up late at night and had to find our way around. Cait and her merry band of misfits (engaging family, escape artist goats, and other two- and four- legged friends) kept us frequently entertained, but also gave us space to enjoy our anniversary trip undisturbed. We got lucky with the weather and got to light a campfire and look at the stars, but I don't think hearing rain on the bunkhouse's tin roof would've been too bad either. We will definitely be back!!!
Highly recommend making the 45ish minute drive to Freidrich Wilderness Park as well — we saw/ heard several endangered birds, and the varied terrain (especially the Vista Loop) made for unexpectedly good hiking so close to San Antonio.

Mockingbird Farms is beautiful, safe, and serene. We had everything we needed in the bunkhouse for “glamping,” but I think tent camping here would also be a great experience. The farm has donkeys, horses, and goats — they are all super gentle and love people, and the host gave us animal crackers to feed them! Everything was very comfortable — plenty of hot water in the outdoor shower, AC unit in the bunkhouse, super comfortable bed. The host Cait was great to communicate with before the trip, and we got to visit with her for a bit on the property, she is so nice! Quick, easy access to the nearby towns (Somerset and Poteet) for meals and gas / dollar stores if you forgot to pack something. I believe this property would be very safe for solo campers, as well. I can’t recommend Mockingbird Farms enough — we’ll definitely be back!

Where to start with mockingbird farms?
Let's start with the vibes... IMMACULATE!
We arrived shortly after 11 and were greeted by the group of goat ambassadors we pulled onto the land and my god is it beautiful! Gorgeous land with wonderful shade trees.
The powder room is by far the nicest and best put together in any hip camp we've been to, the outside shower and tub area was like a small slice of shangri la.
All the animals were curious and sweet making the stay that much better!
We only stayed one night but it was the most relaxed and comfortable my wife and I have been for months we can not wait to stay again!!
Thank you Cait for your hospitality and for sharing your beautiful land with us.

The Boo Radley Bunkhouse is so lovely, you can't call it camping! I would classify the experience as glamping++. Cait was the ideal host and took time to familiarize me with the area and what to expect over the phone before I arrived. The property is absolutely beautiful with happy animals to eat all of the (approved) goodies you can feed them. I brought my dog and she had the time of her life watching the horses, goats, and donkeys and running free which is rare, as she is a city doggo. We both slept very, very well. The outdoor shower and bath are something everyone should experience, if they enjoy a touch of luxury with their bucolic experience, of course. I could have spent hours enjoying that space. Thank you for a fabulous and peaceful escape, Cait. I'll be spreading the word and can't wait for another trip to your farm!

Mockingbird Farm was the perfect adventure for our family! My little girls (4 and 18m) were delighted to feed and pet the friendly animals. The fire pit and circle made campfire cooking and lounging easy and fun, the charming cabin was cozy. Every convenience was taken care of to make this family trip easy and stress free. Cait was awesome and we had the place to ourselves. Wonderful memories were made and we can’t wait to go back!

Boo Radley Bunkhouse
Very precious place, in terms of animal and nature. The host is certainly one of the most considerate people. If you expect luxury glamping place, this may not be the type. But if you want to become part of nature in its native instinct, this shall be the right one. Surprisingly, the shower place is one of the coziest and beautifully designed using nature! Like Eden paradise. Will be back in strawberry season^^

Wow! So much to say. I rented this spot for my 4 kiddos and I to test out tent camping with the backup plan of the bunkhouse for comfort. I’ll start by thanking our host, Cait. Who was willing and eager to be of service and went above and beyond to try and get WiFi working (it didn’t) and to help us have a nice time. No service whatsoever (Verizon) was a little terrifying for me alone with my kids and no other adults. Cait even left a bottle of wine. The outdoor bath did not disappoint!!
The listing is clearly intriguing for families with children, with the trampoline, tire swing, above ground pool, and even a monkey bar setup between 2 trees. However, with the exception of the pool my children couldn’t enjoy any of those things because the stickleburrs were so aggressive and sharp. Arguably 30-50 each time they walked from place A to place B. I wish the host could mow the grasses of these spaces to prevent this. I spent more time consoling my kids and picking burrs from their clothing and shoes than I spent sitting down. We also had an issue with very aggressive wasps living under the stoop of the bunkhouse as you enter it. We couldn’t enter or exit without screams of terror and close stinging calls. 3 wasps snuck into the bunkhouse on our second day and we couldn’t enjoy the space comfortably while they flew around us indoors. On day 2 of our trip we decided to pack up and leave due to these unavoidable issues. They made it impossible for anyone to have a nice time.

My wife and I had a great time here! The property is beautiful and secluded and the animals are sweet as can be! The host Cait was awesome, very easy going and very informative. Can’t wait for our next stay in the fall! I would definitely recommend to anyone just trying to get away and have a beautiful property all to yourselves!

The perfect getaway only a couple of hours outside of Austin! We loved our time out there. From the wild flowers to the night sky to the dreamy outdoor bath. We shared Pop Tarts with the animals and read books. It’s an incredible spot to get a way for the weekend (even though we wished we could have stayed longer). Cait, the hostess gave us detailed instructions for everything around the farm and was lovely to meet her in person on our way out.
We are looking forward to coming back soon!

My sister and I had an absolutely wonderful experience at the mockingbird farms. We both enjoyed the peace. The animals are an absolute high point of the farm, they are lovely. We loved the horses in particular. The host was very helpful and made sure of our safety. Overall we loved our experience and would definitely like to come back again.

What a great piece of land! Beautiful property and the host couldn’t have been more accommodating. She called the day before to go over everything and was very responsive with any questions I had. The hotspot was needed since there was no service on my phone (mint mobile). I loved being able to let my dog off leash without worry since the whole property is fenced in. Would stay again!

My wife and I camped on Cait's site during the October 2023 annular eclipse. It was a relaxing weekend with the right mix of comfort and ruggedness. While remote, the site's farm animals gave us all the entertainment we needed. I would highly recommend for a night on the road, a weekend getaway, or a longer stay where relaxation is a priority.

Needed to get out of the city with my dog and couldn't believe this little slice of heaven is so close! Enjoyed all the animals and the greetings of the donkeys and goats lol. The outdoor shower and above ground pool was a plus, especially in this heat! Not too secluded for a safe solo trip. A must!

I cannot say enough good things about this property, and the host Cait!! This was my second time coming here and it does not disappoint! It doesn’t matter what time of year you visit this property, you’ll be in heaven. I went on Thanksgiving last year, and just got back from my second trip there. Super animal friendly, family friendly, the pool was clean, the cabin was cool and cozy, and her animals on the property are truly the sweetest! Nothing beats being welcomed by a bunch of friendly faces. So much room for dogs to run and sniff, and her animals tend to be very unbothered by yours. Cait is super responsive and probably one of the nicest humans I’ve ever met. I was lucky enough to meet her during my Thanksgiving trip. Please don’t miss your opportunity to stay on her land!

Cait’s place is a natural wonderland… Underrated gem not far out of San Antonio. Spacious and lush with greenery and beautiful flowers. Animals roaming — say hi to the donkeys, ponies, and goats. Cait's Farm is so awesome! We loved how open the farm is to guests and the outdoor bathroom was super clean and nice. We didn't get the chance to try the outdoor shower, but we will next time. Thank you Cait for having us we hope to book again soon. A great spot for photos of farm animals in the spring! There were so many beautiful wildflowers, plus we were allowed to walk the entire property which was really nice! We had a great adventure exploring the property. I feel like you get a different experience going from one gate to the next. This farm is a really cool hidden gem.
Just a couple of side notes for first timers:
-The farm is perfect for families. Not so much for overlanding or if you're someone looking for a super private and primitive camping spot and don't want to see traffic or other people out and about.
-The ground out there is mostly soft sand so if you're setting up a tent expect the sand to be part of the camping adventure.
-There are a handful of Texas bullnettles on the property so be careful when walking around towards the back of the farm.
-Great spot for a date! Perfect day spot. The sunset was beautiful. We sat in the back of the jeep and viewed it from the pasture.
-Host was super welcoming and gave us some great tips and even showed us around.
-Great selection of trees for my fellow hammocking community members.

O.M.G y'all do NOT miss this spot. I have been raving to all my friends since we recently visited. It is fabulous for a couples get away or perfect for a small family trip. We took our 6 and 8 year olds for spring break and had a BLAST. The room was beautiful, the outdoor tub was heavenly, and the overall vibe was uh-mazing. Horses, goats, donkeys- OH my - yesssss please. They were all so sweet and gentle with my littles. The farm is serene and fun with plenty for kiddos to do if you bring them (ninga warrior setup, multiple swings, pool when in season, the gauntlet of awesomeness for them to playyyyyy.) Literally there are not enough words to rave about how much we LOVED our time there❤️ 💜 BOOK it, you'll be glad you did

Boo Radley Bunkhouse
My partner and I stayed at the Boo Radley Bunkhouse over Christmas and it was a wonderful experience. The animals were all great and friendly. The outdoor shower was really nice. It was quiet and peaceful. A welcome change from the constant noise of city living. I would recommend staying here for anyone and will be back myself. 10/10 would do again.

This location truly offers the complete package. Cait was the most kind, welcoming, and responsive hostess. The farm was beautiful, offering all of the comforts you could want or need. We loved exploring San Antonio during the day, then returning to the farm in the evening for dinner, swimming, and relaxation (that tub!!!!!!). The animals were a super fun touch, and Amy (caretaker) was one of the sweetest people you could hope to meet. This was a wonderful experience, and I hope we are able to make this a 'go to' spot for our family.

Cait’s land is perfect for a relaxing weekend of glamping. There’s a cozy cabin with a heater, a campfire circle with benches, and a grill to make your life even easier cooking! You’ll have pretty much all the comforts of home available, but you’ll have access to beautiful land to roam around on and sweet animals to meet and spend time with. The beauty of the land, seclusion among a few other farms, and access to the peaceful animals made for a relaxing and happy weekend. Mockingbird Farms Tent Camping
Beautiful site in the midst of gorgeous live oaks. Cait was so thoughtful, inviting us to stay in her bunkhouse because it was a very cold night. (We stuck it out in our tent!) Our kids (ages 8, 5, and 3) loved the horses, goats, and donkeys. There was also a trampoline, tire swing, hammocks, and lots of fun corners of the farm to explore. Would love to go back!
