I enjoyed my weekend trip to Kenny & Roxanne's. They were very accommodating and responsive. The directions were easy to follow. I would highly recommend this HipCamp. The burgers were great too! Thank you.

Cute little alcove!

This little spot would be perfect in the fall, winter, or early spring! Cute little alcove with a small path to the pond. If you go in the summer, keep in mind that the trees block most of the wind, making it humid. But the spot was perfect for my one-night stay, as I made my way back home on my road trip! I will definitely book this again in the cooler season, which is my preferred time to camp. The trip I was on was a unique occasion.

A perfect secluded camping spot 10 minutes from Smithville Lake. The owners were super nice and helped jumpstart my car. Would definitely recommend.

I stayed two nights at Kenny and Roxanne’s homestead and had a relaxing time. Lots of birds to watch and a nice secluded spot. My only complaint would be the slope that the site is in. I camped with my Bronco and an attached tent and couldn’t find a spot level enough the fit both so I slept on a slope. Not the biggest deal but something to note. This could be fixed with levelers for the bronco, which will be my next purchase! Overall, nice friendly place to camp.

Perfect quiet spot on the water

We LOVED this spot! It was secluded. BEAUTIFUL view of a pond you can canoe or kayak on. We chose to kayak at sundown & it was absolutely breathtaking. If you want to take a step away from the hustle and bustle of the real world. Breathe & take in the beauty of quiet nature. This is the perfect spot for a getaway! When we arrived the owner happened to be home. She was very kind, personable, and had a guide to lead us back to our spot. Like they said make sure you have 4WD or park further up the path if it’s a rainy night. We made it out okay but if we took my car we would have gotten stuck. It was a great stay and we can’t wait to go back.

Serene, quite, and well kept

This campsite was more beautiful than I ever expected! I was greeted upon entry and guided back to the site. It was so clean and well kept, right next to the lake, and I woke up to so many bird sounds. Very serene and a great place to spend the night along my cross country road trip.

Absolutely beautiful site AND hosts

Super friendly and welcoming, that’s the best midwest hospitality. Had great conversations with various residents of the property and they offered us help with moving firewood. Super safe with site behind house, ideal with livestock/guard dogs for safety if traveling alone or at-risk. Location itself is gorgeous, has flat ground for tent camping and big fire pit. There are ponds and lakes on the property and offers a nice walking/hiking option. All I recommend is being mindful the roads aren’t paved/gravel to the site. Drives are in good condition but important if in wet season or rain you have an appropriate vehicle. Ambiance of frogs, woodpecker and other birds, crickets, chickens… just beautiful nature sounds. Clear skies for stargazing as well, no worries of light pollution. Don’t buy firewood before coming! They do sell firewood on site (fantastic quantity, better deal than in store) as well as other farmstead goodies.

Camping with the pups

Absolutely wonderful experience! We were able to order ahead of time as well as purchased two dozen absolutely delicious eggs!! It was a wonderful nice and secluded space for our dogs to run a leash and enjoy the outdoors! This is our second time camping here and I know it will be coming back again and again! The host are so friendly and welcoming 10/10 would HIGHLY recommend this spot!!

Great open space to relax. Overall was a good site and place. You are out in the country and therefore have all the neighboring dogs barking throughout the night. Also, there’s a couple old run down 5th wheelers right next to campsite #3 which has an eerie feeling to them. Just my perspective. But the walk to the pond was peaceful and campsite appeared to be well taken care of (minus the old 5th wheelers).

Very private lovely area. Received a text from owner about rain, and that I might get stuck because I had rear wheel drive, it was an a problem, and I appreciate the heads up. Would definitely recommend this place.

This campsite was pretty and private. Our host was available over text and very friendly when I messaged him with any questions. I was there with my camping buddy for five nights and we felt very safe and comfortable the whole time. The dogs do howl at night, but otherwise there's no disturbance.

Pretty sweet location for tent camping. The track across the field was clear, the road after that a bit rougher, so take care. It was dry, but Kenny let us know that if rain was forecast it was best to park and walk in.

An disservice to HipCamp

Not a Zen Retreat, unless a campsite next to an algae covered swamp, moldy/filthy table, chairs you wouldn't think of sitting in, a grill that had not been opened up in years. Litter everywhere and a fire pit full of trash. No host present and sketchy directions at best. Beat up old trailers overgrown in the woods. Just a very uncomfortable experience, not Tobe repeated A black mark upon HipCamp.

Private, secluded, Zen-full!

This Zen Retreat was awesome, totally secluded and private with the only sounds being natural and an occasional airplane overhead! Would have been perfect if the pond were cleared up for fishing. Covered in pond scum and our lures barely penetrated the surface. Otherwise, perfect campsite!
