Located on the Flint Hills Trail State Park in Allen Kansas, Basecamp Flint Hills offers camping in the scenic Flint Hills of Kansas. BFH is 20 miles north of the world capital of gravel cycling, Emporia KS, and 20 miles east of historical Council Grove. BFH has hammock trees and shaded acreage for tent camping, a no-frills bunkhouse, and two back-in camper sites for those who prefer a bit more luxury. This is a community style campground where picnic tables and campfires will be shared with your neighbors. We encourage you to expand your circle and enjoy the experience! Seasonal facilities include an open air, cold water shower and port-a-potty available April through October. We really enjoyed our evening here! Amy and Darius happened to be on-site and were super welcoming. The site offered everything we needed: a flat spot for our campervan, very clean porta potties and shower, and plenty of space for our dog to scamper around. The tent area looked really nice, too, and the overall vibe was very friendly and relaxed. We were in the area to visit the Tallgrass Prairie National Reserve, but this would also be a great spot for anyone interested in gravel biking in the area. (Amy even let me take her g-bike for a short spin!)

What a great campsite! Amy and Darius have thought of everything to make a comfortable and inviting spot. This was my second time at this peaceful and remote camp in the Flint Hills and I will surely be back.

Great camp! Clean and exactly what we needed! Thank you for being accommodating at a seconds notice! We are so appreciative. Sorry about the headlights while we were packing stuff up. Can’t turn them off from turning on when opening the doors on the Jeeps when they’re off. Thank you again!!

We really enjoyed the Flint Hills base camp for our motorcycle trip to the area. Very quiet, great views and easy to get to. Plenty of firewood, clean portable toilet and outdoor shower. Camp grounds and shade trees were perfect for the tents. My 1st time using the Hip camp app.

Gravel path from campsites to shower & bathroom; some way besides solar to provide warm shower. Very quiet, peaceful location right next to Flint Hills Trail. Great place for groups, small or large.
