The property has sloped grass areas and a level hard packed gravel driveway with 1 pedestal 50A, 30A, and 110 + outlets + $5.
The property is less than 1 mile from The Cliffs Insane Terrain Off Road Park and is 2.5 miles to downtown Marseilles. Downtown Marseilles has several bars, restaurants, a bowling alley, and ice cream.
Walmart 13 miles away and there's a boat launch to Illinois River approx. 5 miles. We have cheap firewood. We have chickens for farm fresh eggs that are $4 a dozen.
Pond is closed for maintenance.
Russell's land offers a well-maintained and peaceful camping experience, with many guests appreciating the cleanliness and spaciousness of the sites. The host, Russell, receives high praise for his hospitality, being consistently mentioned as accommodating, helpful, and friendly. Campers enjoy added conveniences like firewood, eggs, and the unique outdoor shower, which enhances their stay. There are minor mentions of the site not meeting expectations for a farm setting, and occasional noise from the road, but these don't overshadow the overwhelmingly positive feedback.
Small little campground with easy access to state parks. Tent camping is next to the road and there is a railroad track nearby. We were awaken a few times by cars and train. The portapotty was very clean. The shower is a little tricky. A bench and hooks would go a long way in making it easier to shower. The host was very attentive and made sure we were comfortable.
I was looking for a quiet place for a quick overnight stay and this hits the mark. I had the site on the uphill side of the driveway. You may need a couple of inches of wheel levellers to get it straight. Russell did a great job keeping in touch and answering questions.
needs some work regarding the surroundings/location of site. Not a "farm" as expected. Host was accommodating with site choice and provide plenty of seasoned firewood. good overnight stop while traveling.
Tent camping went great! Russell got back to us fast and had extra wood sent out to the campsite. Grounds were great and plenty of space for our group.
This was a perfect stop for us on our trip across the country. Really nice spot, easy to access and Russ is an awesome host. Thanks Russ - we'll be back next year!
We had a great time camping on Russell’s land! Our site was extremely clean and the picnic tables and fire rings were perfect! We had an issue with our camper and Russell went out to get supplies for us and helped us fix it. We would have just had to go home if they hadn’t helped us out like they did. We had no issues with our electricity and the shower worked great!
Russ is the friendliest host we’ve ever had. Our site had plenty of room for our group. The portapotty is very clean. The shower has hot water and an ingenious design. We hope to stay here again.
We tent-camped at the first site on the right. There was plenty of room for only the two of us. We appreciated having an electrical cable to re-charge our powerstation. The outhouse was convenient, clean and the automatic exterior lights made it easy for a midnight trip to the loo. The shower setup is not very private, but Russ intends to improve on it.
There are lots of statuary throughout the property, plus several shipping containers, piles of poles and other ongoing projects. We appreciated the fresh eggs.
The lagoon site provides campers with their own private lagoon. It is a smaller site, which makes it somewhat cozy. Flat areas for setting up your tent are predominantly harder packed earth - most of the grassy areas are sloped. There was a picnic table and trash can on site which made meal prep very easy and convenient. This site is located behind a workshop whose lights make the stroll down the path, to the portapotty, a relatively easy one at night. Mosquitos were pretty prominent at dusk. Russ was a gracious host who genuinely wanted us to be comfortable during our stay.
Generous host, clean amenities, and a respectable site. Not much more to say. We car camped for only a night but thoroughly enjoyed our stay with our dog.
We LOVED our stay at R & L Farms!! Wow! Fantastic host. Russ was so very helpful and friendly. We were first time RVers and he went out of his way to teach and help in such a way that helped us build our confidence. We made a great friend and will be returning over and over again!! Russ kept us in stock of good humor, firewood and farm fresh eggs! He was so accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. It’s very peaceful and quiet there. Loved all the trees and fresh country air! Boutique RV host is the way to go! I would definitely recommend staying and returning! Thank you Russ for a great stay!!
It is a beautiful place. Russ is very nice and friendly. I would recommend staying there. He has electricity hook up. Nice fire pit and very dry wood you can get from Russ.
