WE ARE NOW OPEN FOR THE 2026 SEASON!! Family owned private campground since the 1940's. Very secluded and private. We offer a very unique experience that you will not find any public campground. I many ways we have a "private state park". Nice trails for hiking or biking. There is even a small "race track" in the bottom bowl near the creek. There are several direct access points to the creek for fishing or wading. We have miles of marked trails that are easy for everyone. Horseshoe Bend Main is a larger campground with four dispersed sites which a very spread out. This site has (3) 30 amp outlets for RV's. Porta potties are also provided. The Horseshoe Bend Creekside sites are designated spots that are on the West Panther creek bank. There are porta potties, but no electric or water.

Creekside Site 3 is remote deep woods drive-in site located along Panther Creek, a shallow fast moving stream with gravel bottom with great wading and fishing. This site dos have a steep muddy bank (rope is provided). Fires are allowed and firewood is provided for free. This is tent camping only site. No trailers are allowed because on the narrow drive in lane going back. Four wheel drive IS NOT NEEDED. Accessible with a regular car. There is a porta potty close by. We have a single shower house with sink for your use, please bring your own towels.

This is nice shaded private campsite surrounded trees. It has easy drive in access for tent camping. The porta potty is a 4-5 minute walk away. This have direct creek access for wading and fishing. The creek is 6 inches to 24 inches deep. This a very level site that is accessible with any automobile or truck. No RV or trailers. All you can burn firewood is provided at no charge! We have a single shower house with sink for your use, please bring your own towels.

This is nice shaded private campsite under walnut trees surrounded by natural grasses. It has easy drive in access for tent camping. The very clean porta potty is 200' away. This site does not have direct creek access, but there are trails you can explore that take you near the creek. This a very level site that is accessible with any automobile, truck or motorcycle. This is nice shaded and private campsite secluded deep in the timber. WALK-IN ONLY. Parking within 50 yards of site. This is virgin timber with very little human impact. Tent camping only. The very clean porta potty is in the main campground area, a two minute walk. This site does not have direct creek access, but there are trails you can explore that take you near the creek. This a relatively flat site that that has very little vegetation because of location. It can be muddy and the ground does have sticks and leaves. A small ravine close by. Bring insect repellant. There is no picnic table. However, all you can burn firewood is provided at no charge! There is wildlife (deer and turkey) that will likely walk through your site or close by. There are farm animals about 1/2 mile away that can be noisy in the morning when being fed.

LOT's of fish (small and large mouth bass, catfish, red ears, blue gill) in this fast moving creek with deep holes. Most of it can be walked. Maintained trails through timber area. Firewood, picnic table and porta potty is provided. We have a single shower house with sink for your use, please bring your own towels. Please note that are bugs, weeds and all the typical things associated with camping in the woods.  I reserve the right to cancel a site if weather conditions make it unsafe. However, I can offer an alternate site on higher ground if needed.

Horseshoe Bend is secluded Central Illinois destination. The campground lone sits on three hardwood shaded acres on a 1/4 mile privately gated lane. Total privacy sitting on bluff over Panther Creek. (Note: we are 45 minutes south of Starved Rock State Park, simple easy drive) The campground base is 30'x40' gravel floored covered shelter with a solid back and low side walls on two sides. It is served by a 100 amp, 120 volt service. ONE 30 amp RV hook and one 120v outlet. A fire ring is provided on site. The campground is base for the trail heads that lead to 90 acres of woods including the West Branch of the Panther Creek. Hike, bike, wade, fish at your leisure. Groups can easily camp here as there is plenty of room for camping and parking. RV spots should be limited to 30' and less. Class A motor homes may have difficulty with lane and lower tree limbs. Tent camping is ABOSULTELY welcome. No hunting, ATV's, motorcycles, golf carts, ebikes allowed. NOTE: THIS IS A RURAL PROPERTY. THERE ARE FARM ANIMALS (HOGS AND CATTLE) ON NEARBY  PROPERTIES THAT MAKE NOISE AND CAN SMELL LIKE LIVESTOCK. WHILE NOT ALL THE TIME, IT DOES  OCCUR IN THE COUNTRY.

This a beautiful site that sits 100' above Panther Creek and the curve of the horseshoe. It is very common to look over the edge and see deer in the creek or wondering below. While it's not creek side, you can access the creek by less steep trails. There is a fire ring with free firewood. It is easy drive in access and is about 60' off out private campground road that is only used by our campers. so you may have an occasional vehicle go by which. It would not be uncommon, but rarely, to have headlights shine briefly into your sight. There are many trails to hike or bike. Our country roads are also bike friendly. Free firewood included! WARNING: THE HILL IS 30' BEHIND THE SITE AND IS VERY STEEP. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR SMALL CHILDREN THAT MAY WONDER.

This is a pleasant site that is very spacious, partially shaded and open. It's 50 yards away from the next camp site. You have huge area to set up your site. The gravel lane is very level and easy to drive on. The 30 amp 240v outlet and 20 amp 120v outlets are available at this site. There are many manicured and marked trails throughout the property for your enjoyment. Hike to the 137 year old, 110 foot long old iron bridge! There is a creek with good fishing and wading and some swimming throughout the property. It's usually 12-18" deep with a rock and sand bottom (please wear shoes) Please bring bug spray for the evenings and for hiking. I will tell you this is rural Illinois. There are sounds from farm animals as well as other sounds for the woods. There are critters galore, however there is nothing dangerous here!

Brady has an awesome setup at Creekside 1 where I stayed. There’s plenty of room to space out a decent sized group and he set me up with plenty of firewood for the site. A bathroom and shower are close, clean, and available for use. Upon getting to the site and getting setup, Brady came over, introduced himself and gave me the breakdown of the site and some trails and spots for fishing. I highly recommend this spot and would love to go back again

We loved this place. Super quiet and relaxing. The host, Brady, is thoughtful in all aspects. We received a text prior to arrival with a Google maps pin. This was beyond helpful for finding the campsite with no issues. There was dry firewood awaiting us,l. Brady came back the following evening to bring more wood. This is HUGE to me! We also found the site to be clean and private. We enjoyed walking the nature paths and my husband enjoyed fishing the creek. We will be back!

We had the deep woods camp site and it was fantastic. Plenty of fire wood and it was very peaceful. I hope this place remains a hidden gem because camp spots like this aren't common in Illinois.

The site was gorgeous! We set out tent so we could hear the creek babbling along, and that, with the barred owls all night was beyond perfect! The site was clean, very private, and close to the showers and bathrooms, which is always a bonus. Would absolutely recommend, 10 out of 10. We will be back, Brady!

Super calming place to relax! Brady came to say hi on our first day there and gave us many recommendations. There are many trails to explore close by including the one on his property. We would love to stay here again in the future!

My bestie and I had such an amazing time main site 2. It was lovely to have a shady area and not be beat down by the sun and heat all day. Plenty of space to set up your tent and the trail leading to the creek ran alongside the site. I will definitely be back as I really want to check out the creekside sites. I got a little fishing in but not enough for my liking.

Just took my second trip out to Horseshoe Bend and it was fantastic. I was at a site on a different part of the property and it was just as good as the first time. There are some very easy to walk and well maintained trails for when you want to stretch your legs a bit. Even popped out to Yoder’s Country Market a few miles away for some really nice snacks and goodies.

We couldn't recommend this place more!! The host, Brady, was SO kind, & allowed us to move camping sites, due to my own mistake while booking! It was so peaceful, there were no disturbances, & we had a WONDERFUL time! Our dogs enjoyed themselves, as did we! Brady came by our site & chatted with us for about 10 minutes, & told us how lively it used to be out there back in the 70's! It made us kind of sad, that it isn't like that anymore, but the place sure does hold alot of memories for alot of people! We didn't get the chance to walk the trails, or see the old bridge, but our time there was amazing, nevertheless! We are planning on coming back very soon! I hope more people book a spot out there for a weekend, or even a night, just to experience the woods, animals, and peace & quiet! On a side note, our site didn't have wood at it (no fault of the host, we did find out from him the next day, that there was a communal wood pile under the pavilion), so we brought our own from home & left a little pile for the next campers who decide to come enjoy the campsite we were at! We really can't recommend it more!

Horseshoe Bend - Creekside 3 Site
This was our second time at Horseshoe Bend. The first time we stayed at Creekside West and the second time we stayed at Creekside #3. I liked both the same, but my husband liked Creekside #3 better because it is further from the road which had very light traffic compared to Chicago suburbs. We like this hipcamp because we live in a crowded city and these spots offer a lot of quiet seclusion. Brady was very attentive and thoughtful. The first time going here was our first vacation in a decade so I wasn't going to let a storm deter us from going altogether. Brady insisted we go to his house during the storm because of tornado warnings. Also, we heard some music coming from somewhere. It really bothered me because I wanted quiet. The loud music only went for a couple hours the four days we were there, but Brady did his best to locate the source, which he couldn't find. We were grateful for his care and concern. We also are not hardcore primitive campers, so having a small town 5 minutes away where necessities can be bought was convenient. We went up to town everyday for something and the roads are so calm! I am sure that is not always the case, but Lord willing it was the case for us when we were there. Overall, a very peaceful place to stay.

This place, Brady’s Hip Camp here was just what we really needed. Not far from our home but far enough to feel that we didn’t just roll out of bed and wake up there. Brady was a friendly guy and an easy going guy. Felt very comfortable here. .The directions were as clear as the weather we had and with the generous supply of fire wood he provided we were able to get cozy. Shower was perfect, clean and comfortable. Minimal but well thought out. We will be returning! Thank you!

I had a wonderful time on the site! Great space and clean. Weather was wonderful and I enjoyed the trail walk. I was able to make the drive to Gateway Arch and back to make a fire :) Thank you Brady!

My partner and I were trying out our (new to us) Aliner trailer while traveling from MInnesota to North Carolina and back. We stayed at Horseshoe Bend both ways. It's a sweet spot 6 hours from home. Lovely wooded campground, great for making a fire and sitting quietly. We were happy to have power and a pit toilet for the overnight stops. Brad stopped around on our second visit and seemed quite friendly.

This campsite is very relaxing and peaceful. The host was very professional and polite. The creek was awesome and our dog Marley loved it. The owls at night were cool to listen too as well. Great spot for couples to sit back and relax around the campfire especially since the firewood is free

I can understand why it’s number one in illinois now. host was very friendly and the sites had everything you could need. free endless fire wood, garbage cans, picnic tables, grill and plenty of space. our dog had a blast and we saw and heard plenty of nature. looking forward to coming back.

Lovely campsite! Brady was friendly and pointed out the firewood, shower, outhouse, and hiking trails. Everything was exactly as described on hip camp. Saw lots of wildlife -- deer, crane, and even a fox!

Really sweet wooded area near a small stream. Extremely quiet. Campsites a couple hundred feet apart, all with power hookups, picnic tables, fire pit, free split firewood. Only one other camper on the 10 sites. 30 wooded acres with several hiking trails
