Peaceful and enchanting. Very rustic and private. we are in the best part of the Illinois wilderness. Our woods transport you a world away, yet you are just a short walk from your vehicle and a short drive to Starved Rock, numerous parks, lakes, hiking, fishing and boating sites, stores, and restaurants. Campsites rentals benefit Acres Of Peace Center which provides free mental health programs to Veterans since 2004(located on our farm) We have 5 well spaced campsites complete with fire pit, picnic table and a couple of chairs ready for you at your campsite. Rent 1 or rent them all! Just bring your tent or your hammock! Your initial firewood . lighter, trash and recycling cans, and firestarters are brought to your site before you arrive. Our "camp host" Tiller the big lovable doggo will patrol to scatter any trash pandas that might happen by. We keep track of him using GPS, so we know if He is hanging with you around the campfire. When his collar lights up and plays a tune, it's time for him to come home! Please send him on his way - thank you. We are dedicated to being inclusive. We all LOVE nature and Everyone is welcome here. Message us when you are 30 minutes out, so we can you our tractor to help bring your things to your site. Same at check out. Just let us know 30 mins before you are ready to go and we will help you pack out! Sorry you will not be able to drive your vehicle to your site. This keeps the woods quiet for all of our guests. Each site is just a few hundred feet from the parking area. The magical woods is located along the bridle trails behind our horse farm. Sorry, we do not offer trail rides as we have show horses. However you are welcome to arrange a visit to meet the animals when you arrive. We have horses, a miniature horse, a mule, a miniature sheep and a very sweet goat named Hairy. There are about 30 chickens wandering the yard all day and we have 4 dogs and 3 cats that are always around. They are used to other dogs. At night we have a lovely lullaby of owls, night birds, insects and frogs. Sometimes you can even hear sounds from the Illinois River and railway miles away. Barges, trains (not many) tug boats, and the interesting sounds that come with them. Listen carefully, can you tell them apart?

Our most popular site by far! Serene and beautiful surrounded on 2 sides by Bramble Creek and Golden Pond on the other. Level tent site with well spaced trees for hammocks. Romantic and quiet. Furnished with comfortable chairs, fire ring, picnic table and side table, trash and recycling containers, this is our most popular site and the most remote. Golden Pond is treated for mosquitoes regularly. It is a decorative pond, not suitable for wading, swimming, drinking or fishing. Koi, frogs and turtles make their home in Golden Pond. This site is undergoing some renovations - we ask for patience as we remove an elderly hollow tree. LOTS of deadfall for your campfire! The site is clear and developing. At the edge of Bramble creek is a lovely hollow deep in the magical woods. The creek babbles and the leaves rustle and the crickets and tree frogs sing you to sleep. The songs of the woods will relax and restore you. This site is having some ongoing renovations. The magical woods awaits you just behind our show horse farm. Tranquil. Peaceful. Beautiful. A world away is within reach. This is a Pack in Pack Out tent/hammock site and is not accessible by your vehicle. We do offer a service to bring your items to your site. You must notify us 30 minutes prior to arriving/leaving. Certain times this service is unavailable due to prior commitments. Just 20 miles from Starved Rock Maple, Beech, Ash and Oak trees surround this primitive site. A private spot for your small group to hang hammocks in the trees or level ground to pitch your tent. At the bluff atop Bramble Creek for you to have enjoy and relax. Owls and wild birds are plentiful. Frogs sing and wildlife scampers about. Plenty of seasonal wildflowers. On site hiking on the path adjacent to this site and plenty of nearby trails at the state and local parks. A Campfire ring and dry firewood is provided. You will feel the wonderful Illinois wilderness all around. Peace, quiet and relaxation. There is a picnic table for dining and two chairs to relax in. Ask us for recommendations of other local parks and attractions in addition to Starved Rock, there are so many beautiful places to visit without the crowds. A Port A Potty toilet is at the trail head, It is professionally serviced weekly and sanitized & stocked daily. Recommend the All Trails and Picture This apps for wilderness enjoyment. This is a HIKE IN ONLY remote Primitive site - there is no road access and it is appx .3 miles from the parking area This is one of our most remote sites with no vehicle access. The magical woods awaits you just behind our show horse farm. Tranquil. Peaceful. Beautiful. A world away is within reach. This is a Pack in Pack Out tent/hammock site and is not accessible by your vehicle. We can assist you with our tractor with a 30 minute notice to bring your things in to your site and back to your car. On occasion we are away at a horse show, so you will have to move your things yourself. Just 20 miles from Starved Rock Maple, Beech, Ash and Oak trees surround this primitive site. A private spot for your small group to hang hammocks in the trees or level ground to pitch your tent. At the bluff atop Bramble Creek for you to have enjoy and relax. Really well located spot near starved rock and most of the other parks. Also near a ton of barn and estate sales if you’re into that. We went hiking and got a marble coffee table for 5 bucks nearby! Spot was huge and quiet. The animals are extremely charming and my girlfriend was just jumping for joy meeting all of them. We plan to stay here again next time we come out this way.

Yet another wonderful camping weekend in these peaceful woods. The sites are well stocked with essentials, clean, and low on mosquitoes! A great spot for family camping. I highly recommend buying some of those farm fresh eggs and cooking them over the fire. The woods are a short drive to some great hiking spots too!

We had a great time camping at Pondside Paradise. We stayed 2 nights and it was very peaceful. There were minimal bugs, which was good. Heidi and her husband were very nice and helpful with local recommendations and hauling our gear to and from the site. We loved meeting all the dogs and the farm animals. There was a bit of noise/music from the neighboring houses(I think), but overall, very private. We would be happy to camp here again!

It was a wonderful location! We loved camping here! It was nice and private. We lucked out with no one else being booked at the campsite as we were expecting heavy rain. Even with the rain there were minimal mosquitoes. It was a wonderful getaway surrounded by nature.

We had a lovely time on Heidi’s property! It was easy to find when following her provided instructions. Heidi was quick to respond and incredibly prompt and helpful on arrival with a quick tour and helping us pack our belongings in to the site. The campsites are mostly private with moderate spacing in between and trails that are easy to navigate. The porta potty is clean and easy to find. There was minimal noise from any nearby roads and definitely felt like a good place to get away from busy city life. We will definitely be back!

We LOVED staying here! The campsites themselves were really nicely maintained, and the surrounding woods were peaceful and great to hammock in. Perfect distance for hiking at Starved Rock and, if you want something closer, Dayton Bluffs. Tiller the dog was a fantastic and calm camp host, and he made our dog feel right at home. We enjoyed our stay so much that we asked to stay an extra night, and Heidi went above and beyond to set up another spot for us the day before. We can’t recommend this place enough!!

Heidi made our camping experience amazing! I went on a girls camping trip with my mom, sister, and cousins, and it truly was such a phenomenal trip. Heidi is very active on the app and responds incredibly quickly, which was a huge plus. Not to mention Tiller the dog! He was the sweetest boy ever. There are honestly so many positives I could highlight, but one thing that really stood out to me was when we first arrived and she mentioned that she had “inspected” the bathroom for spiders. That may seem like such a small and overlooked detail to most people, but my sister is a huge arachnophobe, and knowing the bathroom was spider-free genuinely made the experience so much better for her. I think that really shows the level of care, thoughtfulness, and attention to detail Heidi puts into her land and her guests’ experience. Another moment that stood out was when we ran out of firewood late at night. Even though it was past 10 PM, Heidi still came to our rescue and brought us more wood. She is such a sweet and genuine person, and her kindness really made the trip even more special. Overall, this is definitely somewhere I would love to come back to. I enjoyed every part of the experience and would highly recommend staying here!

What a wonderful experience! We were warmly welcomed upon our arrival and shown to the campsite right away. The site was clean with ample room for our gear, firewood was provided, and even though the car was only a couple hundred feet away you couldn’t see the car, giving the overall feeling that we were in a remote area. Can’t say enough good things about our experience. Oh, and being visited by the resident dog was the icing on the cake.

It was amazing! Heidi and Stan were so nice and accommodating! The dogs are no joke they got 4! Tiller is the best boy, each morning he came to our camp and hung out with us until dark, or when we would arrive from hiking. Beautiful space, very open, lots of farm animals, I also want to mention how accommodating the hosts were when we got fire wood but it was a little damp and hard to catch on. They came out at 8:30 to bring us more firewood that was kept inside and a starter, PLUS! A propane tank flamethrower for good measure! It was such a huge help on a 38 degree night. We will definitely be back, at minimum to see Tiller again!

Easy to get to, great spot, tons of room. It's a horse farm with lots of friendly animals running around. (But the camping area is down a small trail and secluded). Heidi brought us fresh eggs in the morning and the roosters made sure we didn't over sleep and waste our day. I'd def come back here. Thanks

My friend and I had the best time here. Our campsite felt nice and private. We could spot a few other campers through the bare fall trees, but everyone was far enough away that it still felt peaceful. The walk from the parking area to the campsites isn’t bad at all. When we arrived, they even helped us bring our supplies to the site on a tractor. The wagon by the porta-potty was very helpful when we were packing up, although I’m sure we could have asked for help from the tractor, too. In the morning, I walked out to my car and saw all the horses grazing in the sunlight. It was such a serene moment, I almost forgot where we slept! We had big plans to go hiking in the nearby canyons, but honestly, we were having so much fun on the farm that we never left. The dogs, especially Tiller, were total sweethearts. Heidi was super friendly and gave us a tour of the barn and all the animals. She was so patient and kind, we had a lot of tour questions, especially about the barn cats! We bought firewood and fresh eggs from Heidi, and they were delivered right to our site, making everything feel easy and relaxed. We felt safe and welcome the entire stay--Tiller even curled up at our campsite for a while, keeping us company like a little protector, so sweet. Heidi and her family are awesome hosts, and we’re already talking about when we can come back!

We had a great time and would definitely come back. Lots of options for hammocks. It’s a pretty quiet area and an easy drive to nearby state parks. Enjoyed Tiller stopping by a few times to say hello. Heidi is super nice and available if you need anything.

My family and I loved camping on Heidi's land. It was our daughter's first time camping, she is 6 months old. They have dogs on their property and my daughter loved the pomeranian. All of their dogs were super friendly and great with our daughter. We had the camp site next to the ravine, very beautiful. The site was big, lots of space. Heidi and her husband were wonderful hosts! We definitely recommend the stay! The property was easy to find and we had good cell service.

Forest Get A Way
Heidi was fantastic! She was welcoming, communicative, and had everything ready for us upon arrival. Also gave some great recommendations for local activities and food. The campground was very nice and well kept, and all the sites were outfitted for campers. Location was easy to find, and very close to Starved Rock and other points of interest.

Meadows Edge
A last-minute change of plans, we originally reserved Meadow's Edge, but Heidi offered to move us to a different site that was a better fit for our needs. Arrival instructions were clear, but you do need to read them. When you get to the (correct) driveway, there are a few buildings where the horses are tended, and the parking lot and campground are beyond. You drive past the buildings through a field, with horses on the left, until you reach the wooded area. An orange portapotty marks the campground entrance. The camp site had everything we needed for a night - picnic table, fire pit and accessories, space for a tent, and recycling/garbage bins. The walk from the parking area to our site was not far, but we took Heidi up on the tractor help at the start and used the cart provided when leaving, as we had some heavy things. Easy, private, clean, peaceful. There was some noise from surrounding area (distant music, truck noises), but not problem. Tiller visited us when we were packing up and what they say about him is true. Horses and chickens also very cool. Would recommend and would stay again.
