Waterfall Camp

Awesome stay at Waterfall Camp! We had a fantastic time at Waterfall Camp! The host stopped by personally to welcome us, chat, and make sure we had everything we needed to feel right at home. The campsite facilities were top-notch—having clean, nice bathrooms and hot showers made the stay super comfortable. Our boys had an absolute blast with the lawn games provided on-site, and the location couldn't be better. It’s right near incredible hiking trails in the nearby state park, making it super easy to head out for a day trip and explore. We would definitely recommend Waterfall Camp to any family looking for a great outdoor getaway and hope to be back again maybe for a fishing trip!

Ideal location and setting

Lovely setting in the rare Pygmy forest unique to this region. Very friendly and responsive host. Tidy camp with nice amenities— propane fire ring with comfy chairs makes for easy warmth, great kitchen sink/stove/counter setup beneath solar string lights at forest edge is convenient and great ambiance, and flush toilet, showers and WiFi just up the drive. Also, ideal proximity to Russian Gulch State Park trails.

Had a great stay at Waterfall Camp with my family. The property was beautiful and peaceful, and being able to walk to the trails and waterfall was a big plus. The campsite was clean and had everything we needed. The hot showers and clean bathrooms were especially nice after being out all day. Shay and Liz were great hosts, and the location made it easy to get to Mendocino, the beach, and Fort Bragg. We’d definitely stay here again.

One of the best private campsites in Mendo! Flat, well maintained sites with everything you might need to win at camping. Shay and Liz are super friendly and accommodating and go out of their way to make sure you have an unforgettable stay. Highly recommended!

Shay & Liz are definitely top of the my list of amazing Hipcamp hosts! Not only are they so warm and welcoming but you can see how much they've poured their hearts into this Hipcamp to make it enjoyable for the guests. What we enjoyed: * Each site has its own amenities like chairs, blankets, raised deck with dish washing sink, dish washing detergent, propane cooking tops, a fire pit and more! * The communal area was super clean and well maintained with trash cans, flushing toilets and hot showers. There are also extra bug repellant, lotion, sunblock, feminine products, and more if you've forgotten anything. If you're up for a game of corn hole or badminton, that's also available! * Both Shay and Liz stopping by to welcome us and to share tips on neighboring trails and where to go explore. I cannot say enough how much we enjoyed staying with them. It's just too bad we didn't have more time. We will be back!

We felt so spoiled staying at Waterfall Camp - such a special spot!! We stayed here at the tail end of a 10 day camping trip and it was easily our favorite stop. The communal space is excellent and each campsite so well stocked with anything a traveller might need - cooking equipment, comfy and warm showers, a wonderful fire pit. As a bonus, we were warmly greeted by Liz and Bandit (my new favorite dog on the planet!) We miss this site already!

Epic camping with a waterfall hike!

Shay and Liz’s waterfall camp sites are epic! We rented out the entire place for a big family reunion and it was incredible. Shay and Liz are fantastic hosts and the setup is top notch. From the hot showers, to the gorgeous waterfall hike it was an all around great trip! I would highly recommend and we plan on going back!

Loved the amenities, and our hosts were amazing! Shay went above and beyond our expectations to make us and our two boys feel welcome. Very close to scenic cliff trails, and shopping! The waterfall trail is a great little hike for a family, 10/10 would recommend!

Site 4 Glamping in Retro Westfalia

I don’t think the pictures and the description of this hidden gem do it justice. Waterfall Camp is more than I expected. Not only do you have an awesome camping location, you are right next to the Russian Gulch state park where you can access from Waterfall camp. You have plenty of things to do around the area, but right on the property, we had fun playing bad mitten, corn hole, and horseshoe. My 13 yo had a great time, which should say a lot. 😄 The amenities of having a grill at your campsite, a hot shower, a real toilet, wifi and much more are great if you’re looking to camp with the perks. We loved it. Shay was very accommodating and always quick to respond. We really appreciate the hospitality and being a part of the Waterfall Camp experience. We will be back. 😎

The perfect Mendo site

This intimate campground is well maintained and situated in such a great location. We hiked to the waterfall at Russian Gulch. Round trip from the campsite was about 3 miles. This was our second summer spending time here and we can’t wait for the next trip.

A beautiful spot! Particularly pleased with central location to Mendocino, Caspar, and Ft. Bragg while we explored the whole area. The hike to the waterfall is about 1.2 miles from camp! We found a few blackberries that were already ripe in June, but anyone coming in the next couple weeks/months is in for a berry feast.

Don’t Miss This Gem!

If you are considering staying in the Mendo-Caspar-Ft Bragg area, do not miss this gem of a spot! Shay and Liz have created a sweet sanctuary with privacy and comfort - including showers, fire pits, games (horseshoe, cornhole, badminton), a sweet shower/bathroom area, WIFI - with walking/hiking/mountain biking trails out the back door. The loop hike through the entrancing Pygmy Forest to the waterfall in Russian Gulch State Park ensures that this camp lives up to its name! We will be back!!!

1st Family Camp Trip

Camp site was well put together for my family’s needs (me ,wife, 7 month old, puppy). Soft area for tent setup, parking has plenty of room for a rooftop tent setup, fire pit, sink and close to communal/bathroom area. All the sites are relatively private but close enough. Trail is literally right next to camp. Shay also was super nice and accommodating. WiFi is available but it is a bit spotty, also there’s no signal at all with tmobile luckily I downloaded the map of the area to get around. Great little place

I loved this place so much, it’s the best camping I’ve ever had. Clean restrooms and showers, the place is well maintained, I really loved that each campsite has its own sink! Area is also very beautiful and private. I would definitely camp there again!

This is such a cool spot to camp! The property is well taken care of. The bathrooms and shower are clean and have hot water! The kitchen set up and supplies are such a treat. I didn’t have to pack as much gear which is always nice. Hiking to the waterfall behind the property was such an added bonus. It felt safe knowing there were other people around but it was still super peaceful and away from the noise of larger campgrounds. You can hear your camp neighbors but everyone I interacted with was super kind and friendly. Really great vibes all around and great communication from the hosts! I might have to come hang in my hammock again sometime!
