There are trails to the creek, and a road along the pastures. Wild blackberries grow along the drive in the spring, beauty berries in the summer, and grapes throughout the property. Our property is meant to be calming, fun and relaxing. Camping with class is what we like to say. We are constantly upgrading our areas and property to be safe and entertaining. Our pond is charming and the focal point of the camping adventure. We have a paddle boat and an electric john boat to toodle around in. Want to go fishing? The pond is stocked with bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and perch. There is also a small island we call “Angel Island” that you can fish from or just sit on the deck with your favorite beverage and enjoy the view. There is a riding/walking trail that is approximately 0.7 miles in distance and basically encompasses the perimeter of the back area. Walking is common, bikes are welcome and small 4 wheelers are also welcome. No side by sides please. You won’t be over crowded here as we currently only have 7 total camping sites. However, we do have enough property to accommodate large parties, reunions or any other type of get-togethers. Come see us and enjoy time away from the fast paced city! You might hear the sounds of the coyotes yipping in the night or perhaps one of the great horned owls calling out from a big oak tree. Learn more about this land: The Rock Pit is a 5 acre swimming hole located in Trinity County that has been there over 50 years. Long ago they had dug out an area on a hill for rock on the dirt roads, and hit and underground water table. There are no fish in the Rock Pit, as the pH is 4.5, so no fish will live in it. I recall swimming there as a small boy, and wanted to share my memories with others. Depth ranges all over, but the deep end is around 15 feet. I have 5 kayaks currently, but bring yours if you have them, along with your vests. There is fishing in Lake Livingston, my place is north of it. There is access to Lake Livingston via White Rock Creek. A public boat ramp in on Highway 94, just outside Trinity. Or you can go back towards Trinity, to highway 357 and go to a ramp closer to the big lake. Tall pine tress, a few Oaks, and maple trees surround the place. Bring your mosquito repellant, as you are in the country! The place is raw right now, but I am planning improvements such as a few A frame cabins, a showering area and so on. So many things to do! We stayed for 3 nights and had an amazing time! The property was perfect for a family trip — clean, beautiful, and full of activities for everyone. They had a miniature putt-putt course, a bounce area, playground, swimming pool, fishing pier and more! A few of us even enjoyed kayaking together on the water. (Kayaks cost extra to rent). It felt peaceful yet fun, with plenty of activities to keep everyone happy. We would definitely come back and highly recommend it to other families looking for a relaxing, activity-filled getaway!

This was an absolute perfect little getaway. We chose the rustic tent area and pitched ours in a quiet little spot. We were a little late getting started from home and did not arrive until after the office was closed but I called and the office staff laid out very clear instructions on what I needed to do upon arrival to ensure we were all checked in. Amazing prices for both camping and the kayak rentals and an awesome staff that went above and beyond the ensure that we enjoyed our stay. We’ve already been chatting about our next visit to the area and are 100% looking at rebooking at this location.

Weekend Trip to Briers Ranch Primitive Camping

The property is absolutely gorgeous and there are many areas to explore and disconnect! The cows on the property are super cute and friendly- to an extent. I do recommend you bring either a truck or an off-road vehicle if you plan on driving on the property. Due to the cows the land is very uneven, thank goodness we left my car at home for this trip lol. Gary was super sweet and helpful throughout the entire trip with the help of Hipcamp. Surprisingly we didn’t run into any mosquitos or snakes the whole time we were there thankfully!! I absolutely recommend camping on this property, it is definitely a good price for the amount of land you have to yourself!! :)

There were a few minor hiccups due to the age (2 mos.) of the establishment. The amenities were clean and organized. Unfortunately, the arcade was not up and running yet, but I'm sure will be nice as well. The pool and swim up bar were a great way to beat the heat and the on-site restaurant was really good!

My family really enjoyed The Retreat. We had 8 people in our group and stayed in one of the cabins. It was a tight squeeze but we made it work. We really liked the pool and other amenities that were provided. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We bothered them a lot with towel, toilet paper, and trash bag requests. There was wifi in the clubhouse and in the cabins. You can rent golf carts to drive around in and cabanas around the pool. My only complaint is that the only shade around the pool was the cabana, and the Texas sun is not forgiving. All together, it was a great stay and we would definitely return.

I love tent camping on Julie’s ranch. This is my family of 16+ 3rd time camping on this property and it only gets better and better. This time we actually swam in the lake for the first time. The water was warm and there was a lot of beautiful treasures the kids was finding in the water. Everything was nice. Nothing to complain about. Quigley came by as usual to see us especially on the last night he stayed guard over us he was sad we had to leave and rained down the path behind us.

This location is so quiet and has various accommodations that we utilized during our tent stay in JULY! Everything from directions to host communications and actual pictures is accurate. My family and I did tent camping as long as we could just for the fun of it and to disconnect and it was exactly what we needed. Will definitely return as we cool down through the months here in Texas, but will look into renting the cabin with A/C next time.

5D is a great place to visit and enjoy nature. Expansive campsites with miles and miles of trails. Each site is spread out so if there are others, you may not even notice. I had the whole property to myself. The best part was floating out in the water knowing that you can take a a nap and nothing can bother you. Richard's land is pure peace. He was very respectful, he even down the area where I wanted to camp so that its fresh. I will definitely go back knowing that its only an hour and some mins from the city (houston). This is the perfect getaway spot if you know how to primitive camp. I also realized there are little to no mosquitoes out there as well but still bring your repellent. I saw 2 bucks while hiking and few rabbits but nothing out the ordinary. Stargazing at night was the best as well, it was such a beautiful sight! Richard also offers kayaks for us you use, take advantage of that. I will be back soon.

Easy to find, site 19 was pretty secluded. Everything was clean, Julie was super friendly and helpful. The whole 5D Ranch was very pretty, with a water feature and even boats available to use. There was a nice bathroom at the entrance to the campsite area that even had a shower. Everything was great!

In general, we do not accept homemade RV’s, school bus conversions, or any vehicle with a manufacturing year prior to 2010, however, if you send us photos prior to booking your stay we may make exceptions.
