On the border between Minnesota and North Dakota, Red River State Recreation Area is just one of many awesome parks within the Greater Grand Forks Greenway. Double the size of Central Park, this stunning stretch of greenery was created as a grassroots recovery from a big 1997 flood. The Greenway holds back river waters now, on top of providing a sledding hill, basketball courts, softball fields, wildflower gardens, wildlife observation spots, and a 20 mile path for bikers, bladers, and joggers.
As if that’s not enough, the campgrounds here have Wi-Fi (!) and close access to downtown East Grand Forks. Craving a little more privacy? There are four walk-in campsites just steps from the riberbank, great for fishing from the shore. Arguably the best part of Red River, though, is the disc golf course just down the Greenway at Lincoln
