Start with leisurely hikes through the park. Trails take you to the tops of hills and bluffs before winding down into valleys and the canyon. Green trees and underbrush are everywhere. Take a lunch break at the picnic areas near the river.
Float on the nearby Apple River to enjoy its leisurely pace. Fish for trophy trout in the spring, and smallmouth bass, crappie, carp, and suckers at any time of year. When near the water, marvel at the cliffs that are possibly hundreds of millions of years old.
