When to Go
Red Top Mountain State Park is open year-round and great to visit any time. Summer is the most popular time to visit, although the heat can be unpleasant—fortunately, there’s a sandy swimming beach nestled in a cove that’s a great place to cool off. As this is an easy getaway for Atlanta residents, it’s a good idea to make advance reservations for weekend visits.
Know Before You Go
- Campers have to check in at the Trading Post to get the gate code before heading to the campground.
- No lifeguards are on duty at the lake.
- Pets are allowed except in park buildings, but must be on a leash no longer than six feet and cannot be left unattended.
