F.D. Roosevelt State Park

If you’re looking for Georgia’s hiking and backpacking mecca, you just found it at F.D. Roosevelt State Park! Traverse through picturesque hardwood and pine forest while catching flickers of babbling creeks and majestic waterfalls. Included in the park is the popular 23 mile Pine Mountain Trail, where you’ll be sure to break in those new boots. You’ll be walking some of the same trails and gazing at the same vistas as the late great President Franklin D. Roosevelt himself! After hiking, take a dip in the refreshing Liberty Bell Swimming Pool fed by natural springs, or head out on a guided horseback ride. The campground is heavenly and sits near the edge of a small fishing lake. You’ll be cooking up a southern style barbecue round the fire in no time. If you’re looking for something a bit more luxurious there are cabins to rent too. Either way, remember to bring the ice for those tall glasses of lemonade, or even taller mint juleps!
