For casual campers we have the Wooded Campsite which is easy to access, and for more experienced campers wanting a little more of a hike we recommend the Secluded Grove campsite. The land from bottom to top of the mountain is designed as a 5 part pilgrimage, and how high up the mountain you can get can be used to evaluate your spiritual and physical fitness. WLCC minister Aron. the campsite host is typically available for Guided pilgrimage hikes and if the weather cooperates, and if your party is tough enough, and doesn't mind a little scrambling and getting dirty, you can also see the mandala cliff cave which only maybe 1 in 5 groups make it to is true test of skill to get there to complete the final step of the pilgrimage. Most campers choose to self explore and there are many beautiful sights to see with trail going up the mountain, or you can just chill with the view of your campsite if you prefer. As you ascend Sand Mountain, the vegetation thins revealing spectacular views of Lookout Mountain especially in the fall & winter months after the leaves have fallen. At the very top of the property are 30+ ft high cliffs. There is a cliff cave that has a colorful collection of lichen growing in it and we have named it our 'Mandala cave', but access is subject to weather and requires Guide to access. If you enjoy bush craft, there is plenty of material for you to build a lean-to, tipi, or structure of choice. Trees range from poplar to multiple species of oak. Natural wildlife include deer, wild turkeys, scorpions, and ticks. Pets are welcome, and be advised we have a male cat who will likely hide if you bring dogs but won't bother you. If you need assistance minister Aron, campsite host lives on site in the custom earthbag parsonage, and is also available for earthbag building workshops and guided hikes for nominal donation of $5. All funds from hipcamp donations go to Whole Life Center Church s.s.m, the Freedom religion (wholelife.cc) for improving religious pilgrimage experience. Our church creed is Freedom is Universal. Through camping and nature you can experience God.

Our 10x12 foot canvas safari tent offers a cozy 120 sq ft of space which can accommodate a twin size mattress in addition to the provided queen bed.

Guest access
Folklore Forest is on 3 acres and has 270 feet of River Frontage at your disposal. Little River is considered to be the purest, natural flowing river in the state. Bring your fishing gear and kayaks. Sit on the rocks at the base of the waterfall under the rhododendrons and holly trees, and wade in the water in the warm months.
Park on the side of the road in front of the Cynefin sign. There are solar lights illuminating the path to the tent if you arrive after dark. There you will find a that you can use to bring your luggage down.
Other things to note
• The river will rise and fall depending on how much rain we are getting. It tends to be lower late summer to early fall. We cannot guarantee water levels.
• This is primitive off grid camping. There's no electricity or running water. We recommend bringing a portable battery pack to charge devices.
• Please be respectful of any wildlife (there are white tail deer, raccoons, weasels, harmless black snakes, mink, foxes, coyotes, many birds, and the extremely, and we do mean extremely, rare black bear), while fishing in the little river is allowed, hunting is prohibited.

A lovely home away from home with everything you could need for a lil rest and relaxation... a/c to beat the heat, patio grill, wrap around mountainscape complete with lightning bug show at dusk, and a sweet pup named Lady Cooper for porch sitting company. The hosts went over and beyond in sharing their property and kindness, including a hand-delivered, freshly picked and baked blackberry cobbler (which I devoured within minutes, thanks again Chris!) This campsite is so easy to camp at. Danny has Dark Hollow so well setup, maintained, and organized. The property has everything a tent camper looking for a creek spot to leisurely explore.
We tent camped for 2 nights. I have a small car, which allowed me to pull right up to the campsite we chose, named “The Ledge.” We had a fire pit, picnic table, immediate trailhead access, and a view I dream of waking up to always.
We spent hours exploring the creek, laying out in the sun, birdwatching, and more. The trails are easy to follow, however, you need hiking boots. I would say the trails we did were easy with moderate-difficult areas depending on how far you decide to go.
If you are someone who loves simple outdoor camping, book a few nights at Dark Hollow. There is an outdoor propane powered shower at the top of the campground, an outhouse toward the bottom/middle, a spigot for utility water, and trash cans. There is an option to add on firewood; I didn’t have to haul bundles of it in my tiny car.
Oh, man. We had the best time here.
I highly suggest Dark Hollow for tent campers who want to explore outside of public parks.

Wonderful overnight at this property. The owner has clearly put a lot of thought and care into making this an enjoyable and beautiful place to camp. A steep hiking trail is very worth traversing for the beautiful stream and scenery at the bottom of the hill. Would stay again.

Camping in their camper was the best experience! Very clean and had everything. Eston and his wife are so welcoming and willing to help wherever you need! Their property is beautiful and has a blackberry trail where you can pick and eat berries.

By far one of the best and most memorable places I’ve ever camped! The view is something incredibly beautiful. The trails that lead down to the water are a must. Great for just a solo camping trip or with the whole family.
Danny is a wonderful, helpful, and kind host.

It was a nice Campground park! We enjoyed it and loved the view of the lake. We fished,swam, inflatable boated and saw some animals! The general store is nice for emergencies. Our campsite was private but we were still in walking distance to showers when needed. i reccomend for our family of 6!

This is our 2nd time camping here and it was just as perfect as the first time. We got to meet the hosts this time and they were wonderful and gave us fresh blueberries from their own blueberry bushes. :) we love this spot because are dogs can be (mostly) free to hang out and swim. We will visit again.

We had a wonderful stay at Spring Dale Hipcamp hosted by Eston and his wife. They were incredibly warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The campsite was peaceful, well maintained, and a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature.
Our pet, Naina, had an amazing time too! She especially loved playing with their friendly dog, Lady. Watching them have so much fun made our stay even more memorable.
Thank you, Eston, for your wonderful hospitality. We truly enjoyed our time at Spring Dale and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, pet-friendly getaway. We can't wait to visit again!

A very busy RV park with a very empty tent camping point. Wonderful and secluded feeling right up against the waters edge. I was able to feel the breeze off the water all night. Loved it - perfect!

Excellent place, beautiful camp sites. Lots of firewood available. Take a hike down into the hollow... it lives up to its name. Its dark and spooky down in the bottoms following the trails down. There's showers and bathrooms available. It's a quiet place, very secluded and feels safe. We were the only people there that night and still felt very safe. There's a gated entrance that's locked at night so nobody can just wander in. Im looking forward to cooler weather so we can return.

This site exceeded expectations! The hosts stocked the RV with every single thing the average person would need to feel at home, and that’s exactly what it felt like. A home away from home. I was also pleasantly surprised that there was an ABUNDANCE of blackberries on site to pick! Not only that, they had a rock pile of rocks collected from the property that were full of character, and many of them with crystals which they allowed me to take as well. I came home with blackberries and beautiful rocks/crystals as if I visited a gift shop on my way out. The hosts themselves were close in location but very hospitable and respectful of my privacy. I will very likely be returning for another visit
