Our 10x12 foot canvas safari tent offers a cozy 120 sq ft of space which can accommodate a twin size mattress in addition to the provided queen bed.

Guest access
Folklore Forest is on 3 acres and has 270 feet of River Frontage at your disposal. Little River is considered to be the purest, natural flowing river in the state. Bring your fishing gear and kayaks. Sit on the rocks at the base of the waterfall under the rhododendrons and holly trees, and wade in the water in the warm months.
Park on the side of the road in front of the Cynefin sign. There are solar lights illuminating the path to the tent if you arrive after dark. There you will find a that you can use to bring your luggage down.
Other things to note
• The river will rise and fall depending on how much rain we are getting. It tends to be lower late summer to early fall. We cannot guarantee water levels.
• This is primitive off grid camping. There's no electricity or running water. We recommend bringing a portable battery pack to charge devices.
• Please be respectful of any wildlife (there are white tail deer, raccoons, weasels, harmless black snakes, mink, foxes, coyotes, many birds, and the extremely, and we do mean extremely, rare black bear), while fishing in the little river is allowed, hunting is prohibited.

Fishing here is mainly wade fishing: plan on wading to reach most fishing spots. Our family usually fishes upstream and downstream when conditions allow. Fishing from the bank is possible but difficult and, in our experience, usually produces small bream. This is not an easy bank-fishing spot for a child’s first outing. Ask us about current conditions before booking if fishing is your main reason for visiting. Only enter the river when conditions and your group’s abilities allow; water depth and current change with rainfall and the season. Catches are not guaranteed.
The river is natural and unmonitored. Water level, current, mud, debris, weather, and water quality can change quickly, especially after rain. There is no designated swimming area, lifeguard, water-quality testing, shuttle, guide, watercraft rental, route monitoring, or rescue service. Guests must evaluate current conditions, directly supervise children near the water, and use properly fitted life jackets whenever appropriate.
Amenities and fire rules vary by the specific site reserved. Campfires are permitted only when the booked site allows them, only in its designated fire ring, and only when current restrictions and conditions permit.

For casual campers we have the Wooded Campsite which is easy to access, and for more experienced campers wanting a little more of a hike we recommend the Secluded Grove campsite. The land from bottom to top of the mountain is designed as a 5 part pilgrimage, and how high up the mountain you can get can be used to evaluate your spiritual and physical fitness. WLCC minister Aron. the campsite host is typically available for Guided pilgrimage hikes and if the weather cooperates, and if your party is tough enough, and doesn't mind a little scrambling and getting dirty, you can also see the mandala cliff cave which only maybe 1 in 5 groups make it to is true test of skill to get there to complete the final step of the pilgrimage. Most campers choose to self explore and there are many beautiful sights to see with trail going up the mountain, or you can just chill with the view of your campsite if you prefer. As you ascend Sand Mountain, the vegetation thins revealing spectacular views of Lookout Mountain especially in the fall & winter months after the leaves have fallen. At the very top of the property are 30+ ft high cliffs. There is a cliff cave that has a colorful collection of lichen growing in it and we have named it our 'Mandala cave', but access is subject to weather and requires Guide to access. If you enjoy bush craft, there is plenty of material for you to build a lean-to, tipi, or structure of choice. Trees range from poplar to multiple species of oak. Natural wildlife include deer, wild turkeys, scorpions, and ticks. Pets are welcome, and be advised we have a male cat who will likely hide if you bring dogs but won't bother you. If you need assistance minister Aron, campsite host lives on site in the custom earthbag parsonage, and is also available for earthbag building workshops and guided hikes for nominal donation of $5. All funds from hipcamp donations go to Whole Life Center Church s.s.m, the Freedom religion (wholelife.cc) for improving religious pilgrimage experience. Our church creed is Freedom is Universal. Through camping and nature you can experience God.

A beautiful campground! Quiet, off the beaten path, and secure with a coded electric gate. The hosts were superb and left nothing uncertain, undone or unanswered. The four sites are all great with site 4 being pull through. We stayed in site 1. This outing was with our toy hauler and dogbabies and all was perfect. Each campsite has a wooden picnic table, a large outdoor chair, and an outdoor mat. Be certain to use a pressure regulator immediately at the source due to the more than adequate water pressure.

This campground quickly became a favorite destination for us! So peaceful and quiet. We loved seeing the animals around the farm. Can't wait to come back!

I loved the campground on the farm property. Bathroom close and enough foliage to still feel private with the big house close by. The guardian dogs patrolling at night and the sounds of the farm waking up was what we were hoping for.

Fully enjoyed the Stattanooga camp site on Lake Weiss! Hot summer weather may have kept the lakeside extra quiet ... but even with more lake activity, the site would win extra stars! Super clean, super easy to find, super easy to set up, and super easy to enjoy!

The camp site was great, I was not able to stay at the brow site because it does not accommodate truck camping but the group campsite was just as beautiful.

This is such a cool place! Danny is fantastic. The hot shower was a game changer. The views from Dark Hollow are absolutely beautiful. The historic downtown was cool to explore. The grounds are well kept and quiet! We WILL be back!

Nice grassy area and shaded tent spot with easily accessible power outlet. Showers and toilets were clean, air conditioned, and a welcome break from the Alabama sun and sweat. Will be coming back when we visit again!

Everything was awesome! From a camper standpoint, it was an easy hookup and it was easy to get in and out. It was a perfect spot to sit back and relax as well as to play in the lake.

We had such a wonderful long weekend here! The site is beautiful, peaceful, and tucked into the woods on Lookout Mountain, just a short drive from Cloudland Canyon. Jerry was incredibly kind and welcoming, quick to respond to anything we needed, and even provided us with more firewood than we could burn in four days of keeping a nearly continuous fire! He was also so sweet to our dogs, Fenn and Chance.
This is definitely a rustic site—just a picnic table and fire ring, with no water or electricity—which was exactly what we wanted. A perfect quiet place in the woods to unplug, relax, and enjoy being outside. We would absolutely stay again!

We had such a wonderful stay at Hixson Farms! The farm was beautiful, peaceful, and such a fun place to get away and enjoy some fresh air. The Highland cows were definitely a favorite and made the whole experience even more special. Janna was absolutely wonderful—so kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. You can tell she truly cares about making sure her guests have a great experience. We made some really sweet memories here and would absolutely recommend Hixson Farms to anyone looking for a unique and relaxing getaway!

I really really enjoyed tent camping at River Ranch! The land is beautiful. There are a few trails that you can walk along the river and see the wildlife. Doni and Laiza ,were very responsive to any questions that I had during my stay and made suggestions on where to walk and what to look out for as far as wildlife. My experience was a 10 out of 10! I will definitely be back soon.
