I'm located between Wisconsin Dells and Lyndon Station on a cozy little 3-acre corner lot at the intersection of Highway 12 and Oak Glen Circle. The property is mostly wooded with beautiful white oak trees that I've done my best to preserve. Each year, I welcome nesting bluebirds, robins, and ruby-throated hummingbirds. You'll also find several bird feeders that attract a wide variety of songbirds, along with squirrels, rabbits, and woodchucks that call the property home. Please note: I do have neighboring homes nearby, but it's a very quiet neighborhood of homeowners with no noisy renters. Please also note that as the host, I do live on property. I offer you your privacy but on occasion you may see me outside doing random chores on property. Please also note I have 2 dogs. They are very friendly animals and it's very possible at some point during your stay they may introduce themselves to you. Thankyou for understanding. Nearby Attractions Wisconsin Dells – Just 3 miles away, offering endless attractions, restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. cabin is an off-grid, 12'X20' insulated structure, with a 7'X8' loft and a 12'X6' screened covered porch/deck. That overlooks a small stream and a cattail marsh. It is in the center of our 90 acres and is very private but near to some rural houses, only our house is (barely) visible in winter and you might see some lights of one other neighbor when the leaves are off the trees. We are 1 and a half miles from the village of Belleville and 5 miles from New Glarus. The Badger State Trail runs across the western edge of our property. It connects with the Sugar River State Trail 8 miles away. Near by New Glarus has many shops, restaurants, Baily's Run winery and the famous New Glarus Brewery (tours daily). Everything can be easily reached by bike or, in season, snowmobile. The marsh is a haven for all sorts of birds and wildlife. Spring brings an abundance of winged migrators and returning residents. There are: sand hill cranes, red wing blackbirds, a number of ducks; buffleheads, mergansers, woodducks, blue winged teal and shovelers just to name a few. The American woodcock can be heard overhead most spring mornings and evenings. The spring peepers (small frogs) are a symphony on their own and they continue into early summer. The woods has many spring flowers and the fall colors are wonderful. In summer there are many song birds like: bluebirds, finches, orioles, humming birds, cedar wax wings, robins, cardinals and herons. Sitting on the screened in deck one can hear a kaleidoscope of bird songs and activity. And an abundance of fireflies in later May through late July and then some. The cabin is off-grid, what that means is: there is NO RUNNING WATER in the cabin and only a chemical toilet (port-a-potty). A limited amount of water is supplied for drinking and washing. There is a sink with a drain in the cabin but no bathroom or refrigerator so bring a cooler. Very limited electricity. There is basic LED lighting and you will be able to charge your phones/devices. The power is supplied from batteries/inverter charged by solar panels on the roof. There are LED lights and a coffee maker. There is NO air conditioning but excellent ventilation and a small, cozy wood stove for heat. If you're uncomfortable or unfamiliar with a wood stove, it may not be wise to stay here in the winter heating season, but we can show most people how to use the stove safely. This is still considered "camping" so be prepared to bring camping gear: your own pillows, sleeping bag, food, drinks, cups, plates, cooking utensils etc. There are carryout options a short drive away. The only thing you won't need is a tent, the cabin is very cozy, warm on the cold days and cool on the warm ones and there is a picnic table, lawn chairs and a gas grill with a side burner. There are a few spots around the cabin for tents if you have additional friends staying. There is an additional charge for additional guests (over 2) but please be advised: any loud "parties" or disturbances and you will be asked to leave. This is a place to enjoy nature and quiet time. To get away from it all. No extra charge for children 12 or under. Insects are a part of the woods environment, if you're afraid of bugs this may not be the right fit for you. We rarely have any real issues, so we're reluctant to use toxic chemicals to kill most (normal) bugs. Normal bug repellent is about all that is necessary. Why we have this cabin; It's a way to share this special place that, judging from the artifacts found here has been a camping area for thousands of years. We want to let others enjoy the seasons; the return of the migrating birds, the spring peepers in the marsh, the fall colors, the silence of a winter day in the woods and the warmth of a wood stove. (many people have found the stove to be their favorite feature) The cabin gives you a front row seat in the middle of, comparatively, pristine nature. Campers will have access to our fine trails for hiking, skiing, snowshoeing and biking. (we would allow a snowmobile from the State trail to the cabin). All campers take note: 1. Please do your best to arrive/check in before dark! The cabin is dark; no yard lights, no streetlights, and if it isn’t a moonlit night, it IS very dark. Some of you are not used to real darkness. We provide some flashlights and headlamps (if you forgot yours) and there are LED lights in the cabin we keep charged for you. Camping headlamps are great for cooking, using the port-a-potty and finding your way around, etc. Bring yours or you can borrow ours, just ask. 2. Take safety precautions with the wood stove and learn how to use it correctly. The only source of heat in the cabin is a small, very nice wood stove. Those without any experience with using wood for heat are advised not to stay at the cabin during the cold season. Those that are eager to learn--we can help you, but safety is very important and you must at least have some basic skills to handle wood heat: using a propane torch, using kindling, splitting wood, operating the stove airflow. 3. Campfires: Campfire wood can be purchased for a reasonable price @$10 for a tote, or @$20 for a large pot/container. We do allow people to bring their own if they are coming from less that 50 miles away. Some exceptions do apply. 4. It has been very enjoyable meeting the many campers. Everyone has been very well prepared and it has been a pleasure seeing them have fun. We especially have enjoyed the families with young children and people with their dog(s). All have been very well behaved and very enthusiastic. 5 Dogs are welcome, but please let us know if your dog does not get along well with other dogs, so we can let others know. We have a young golden retriever that is very friendly and does very well with other dogs, kids and all people. If your dog doesn't get along with others (dogs or people) please let us know in advance, so we can warn others and please, for safety, keep them on a leash. Your hosts, Dan and Anne

The large outdoor deck features two separate seating areas, including a grill, dining table, outdoor sofa, and a second smaller seating area with a bistro table. After a day spent exploring the river or the woods, relax around the fire ring or unwind in the hammock while gazing at the stars. A kayak, paddleboard, and fishing gear are available for your use on the small lake. If desired, a golf cart is available during your stay for a small additional fee. It can be used to get around the property, including trips to the pools or lake. Please inquire after booking. Pool access requires a $10 pass, which can also be added. My two kids (11&13) and I had a fantastic time staying here. It was quiet and peaceful and the cabin has everything that you could need to have a good time on the water, or to just hang out in the house. I'm hoping we can visit again next year!

The outside of the house and sitting area. Daryll has chairs there so we didn’t have to bring our! That was helpful as we have a Honda Fit!

Weekend Trip to Purplehaze Acres

We had a great time in the little house at stone ridge. The property was so beautiful, and the tiny house was very cozy and quaint. Linda and Derryl took very good care of us. There were fresh-cut wildflowers waiting for us on arrival, and Linda explained how everything worked. The sleeping arrangements were very comfortable, and we loved waking up to the sounds of the rooster. There was a big storm that passed through the first morning, and we felt very safe and made our breakfast inside just fine. We visited the nearby town of Hartford which had a beautiful historic downtown. By the evening we had a fire going outside and the range in the cabin was perfect to cook some delicious meals on. I highly recommend staying here!

Beaver Point was absolutely amazing!! My best friend and I went for a weekend and had the best time. The pond was wonderful to swim in and we even got to play with Marble the puppy down by the dock. The cabin itself was so cozy and even though it rained most of our visit, we stayed dry and comfortable in the beautiful screened in porch listening to the birds and playing games. Loved it so much I already booked my next visit!! Thank you to Dan!!

1 night at Oak Glen Hollow

Our stay at The Cozy Camper was an amazing experience during our road trip! Before we arrived, we reached out to Steve with a few questions, and he was incredibly responsive and helpful. The camper was very comfortable, and we slept great. Steve greeted us when we arrived, offered us cold bottles of water, and even had snacks available in case we needed them. His dogs were so sweet and made us feel even more welcome. There was a neighbor's dog (black fluffy) that came to greet us too, but don't get scared, it's very playful. We enjoyed relaxing by a bonfire, and Steve thoughtfully provided marshmallow roasting sticks. The bathroom was beautifully decorated, spotless, and stocked with air freshener and all the amenities we needed. Steve was a wonderful host, and we really enjoyed chatting with him about our trip. The location was perfect, right off the highway, making it easy to find, yet surprisingly quiet, so our sleep wasn't disturbed at all. If we're ever passing through the area again, we would definitely stay here again. We highly recommend The Cozy Camper to anyone looking for a comfortable, welcoming place to stay!

Weekend Trip to Oak Glen Hollow

Superb location and set up with the essentials! Steve was an excellent host and takes very good care of the land. The grounds are raked of leaves, plenty of tables and chairs, set-up of string lights, a hammock, and more. Steve was kind enough to drop off some cold waters too. His dog Stella is an absolute angel! The camper was a great size to sleep four comfortably. All of the walls you could zip down into screens to allow air in. Inside there was electricity where you could charge your phones. Funny to admit but the site has the NICEST porta potty ever! It's decorated inside, tons of air fresheners, and equipped with soft toilet paper. The location is phenomenal! It's within a 10 minute drive of Noah's Ark, a Super Walmart, BP Gas Station, the Outlets, Ho-Chunk Casino, Ishnala, and more. Steve and his campsite will have you set-up perfectly for a camp out in the WI Dells. I'd come back again!

This camp is a hidden gem in southern Wi, The land was beautiful, the cabin was PERFECT (I want to live in it) tent site perfect as well. Lots of birds and other wildlife. We enjoyed paddling and fishing in the pond and hiking the paths. We came thinking there were zero amenities, but there were actually lanterns, a few dishes and cooking utensils, enough water to wash dishes (and take a quick shower if you wanted to refill the buckets) and some other useful things. It was a very quick hike to the car and pond, but the golf cart made it even quicker. Really the only downside was some traffic nose during rush hour and evening, so maybe bring earplugs if you need those to sleep, but we weren’t bothered during the rest of the time. I forgot to add that the host is very kind and always available when needed. We definitely plan to go back. Oh, and if you go through town, be sure to stop at the Lingonberry Llama. I’m a coffee shop snob and this place is my new favorite.

This was far and beyond the best private booking I've had between all platforms (hip camp, VRBO, Airbnb). Andrew was extremely pleasant and responsive. The suite is in a beautiful and convenient area. The place and yard was clean and well maintained and neighbors (not that you ever see them) are very kind. I would absolutely stay again and I hope I get the chance to.

Weekend Trip to Purplehaze Acres

Lovely little cabin in the woods! A nice, mostly quiet time, just keep in mind it's on an actual farm so you'll hear the roosters/dogs and such, but pretty easy to tune them out. Overall, I'd recommend staying here if it's on the cooler side of summer. We stayed when it was 95 degrees one day and that was just poor luck on our part. I imagine it's PERFECT in the fall and even winter. Very enjoyable off-grid getaway.

Weekend Trip to Bear Den Lake House, Westfield, WI

What a hidden gem! A cozy spot in a wooded area. We relaxed more than anticipated. Rooms are very spacious and fully furnished. No WiFi noo problem! I found this to be the best part. Listening to nature and casting off the dock next to a fire a few feet away…it was a welcome blast from the past with no electronics! Woot!! We did cheat a bit and watched some classic movies on dvd. Not far into the movie we switched and played card games instead. We paddled around the lake and casted a few times. So much fun! Thank you to property owners who were very accommodating. The entire experience is exactly what we had been looking for.

Weekend Trip to Beaver Point Cabin

The cabin exceeds expectations.All the comforts one could need and then some. Loved the cart and the grounds. Had fun exploring and so close to restaurants and activities in Belleville and New Glarus, if needed. I just wish I had brought the dogs 🐕. Highly recommend for campers and even those who don't have lots of camping experience.
