We provide filtered water and cream in the refrigerator upon your arrival, and for families with young children we have a gate to block the staircase and outlet caps for added security.
Twelve chickens are a part of our family, and you are welcome to feed the chickens clover or fresh flowers, and help us plant flowers or pick apples depending on the season! We also have two farm dogs and two farm cats who might want to say hello.

West of Taylors Falls. Dan bought this property with the intention of growing stone fruits (plums, peaches, apricots and
cherries) using sustainable and organic practices because health and wellness matter to them! They are still in the process of improving their property. Many of the building on the property were in poor condition, including the old barn foundation which is now one of Dan and Danielle favorite places to keep cool in the summer. After they had excavated all the debris (which took years) they were able to transform it with gardens and fire pit for all to enjoy. They love sharing what they have been blessed with! Enjoy our back lot for a private campsite which borders a prairie preserve. Watch the deer come in the morning and evening and listen to our friendly, happy hens cluck away, not to mention all the beautiful song birds. We are happy to share our golf clubs and balls to hit a few into the field. Our kids love it!
Tree coverage along with an open field. We cut the field to offer a walking trail to the prairie preserve. There is a tree surronded, very private tent site for tenters, but if you have a camper you can find a spot that works best for you! (The tent site is very private and a camper would not fit.)
We are a short 10 min drive to Stillwater but there is so much to do in Somerset! Take a walk around the prairie preserve and kayak down the apple river, but don’t forget the local brewery and boutique shop. There is some great fishing on local lakes in the area as well. We offer a 30 amp electric hook up and our hose for water. We also have a shower tent with a camping porta potty.

Our elevated shack is perfect for a one-person getaway, with views of fields, woods, and gardens. Amenities include an outhouse, a BBQ grill with charcoal, a table, and a fire pit. A hammock and outdoor gear are also available. Our friendly dogs, Wally and Sunny, will likely greet you—they roam freely. And then there’s Bobby Sue - our rescued tomcat who thinks he is a dog. He is very curious and will undoubtedly come to visit. If you bring a pet, we ask that it remain leashed, as we have chickens on the property.
We’re a short drive from Class 1 trout streams, including the Kinnickinnic and Rush River. If you prefer to stay on the farm, the shack features a writing desk and an outdoor porch table—perfect for when inspiration strikes.
There is no Wi-Fi, but there is an AT&T tower nearby for data connection. Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint users may have limited service. A small fridge, French press, hot plate, fresh water, and basic utensils are available.
Peony Power Farm is my new business, where I am in the process of planting and cultivating peonies for the cut flower market. The plants take 3 years to mature for cutting, but once in bloom, the Hattie Shack will offer a beautiful view of the peony fields. In the meantime, Wayne and I plant huge vegetable and flower gardens. The abundance is amazing and we love to share the beauty. Please join us in this little slice of paradise.

I’m so glad my very first solo camping trip with my dog was at The Dome!
When I booked the listing, there was an option to pay for a couple hours before and after the booking time and I definitely took advantage of that and I’m so glad I did. I had been needing this break from the stress of life situations and have been looking forward to it so much.
Inside The Dome is a perfect set up. It is nice and cozy with just the basics as you see in the listing pictures and the toilet was fine to use. There are instructions there for how to pack it out.
Linda was even kind enough to have a box of dry firewood available, and the fire pit is pretty big. I did make a small fire too!
There are some trails that are easily walkable.
Next, as another camper at the site noted in their review: birds, birds birds. I used my Merlin app and just sat and enjoyed all the sounds. I even got to see a few of the birds and I did bring my binoculars. I also saw two different hummingbirds.
Come prepared for a few ticks. I used “Wondercide” for Baxter. It’s part of camping!
I use At&T and had fine cell coverage. I’ll attach some pix and hope others go and enjoy it! We might go back this fall!

The site was tidy with its own compostable outhouse. There was even four chairs set around the fire pit. The site was private and the sounds of nature was very refreshing. Dan has a very nice place with well cared for land. There are friendly chickens and a happy-go-lucky dog, who escorted me to my site the second night.. I would definitely recommend the site. Dan was very kind and accommodating as well. He also provides wagons to tote your things.

We were the first guests of the season and it was COLD outside (It even snowed) but the barn was so cozy and warm inside. Homemade breakfast was delivered along with homemade hot tea and it was exceptional! They offered us to reach out for anything we may need but we didn’t need a thing! It was perfect! We’re looking forward to coming back for a longer stay when the flowers are in bloom!

This cabin is so lovely and cozy! I was concerned about being warm enough in late March but I had no need to be. The gas fireplace keeps the cabin incredibly toasty. The creekside fire pit is picturesque. I enjoyed making a morning fire and watching the creek flow by as it gently began to snow. This was the perfect spot for a weekend of quiet reflection. Truly magical! Thank you!

Weekend Trip to Sonder Schoolhouse
Sonder Schoolhouse was such a beautiful place to stay for the weekend! Super quaint and had everything we needed & we loved how secluded it was while also being close to the Twin Cities. The host was also reliable and available for any questions. The only downside - there were a lot of flies inside that could be annoying at times.

Dan greeted us warmly and offered our children the chance to pick an apple from his tree. His farm is gorgeous with vibrant sunsets and a quiet breeze through the grasses.
We were very comfortable in the spacious tent and made a cozy bonfire both nights. We highly recommend staying here!

2 nights at Into The Woods
Where do I even start? Maybe at the fact that we absolutely cannot wait to return?! We had so much fun at “the dome”. The autumn trees worked out perfectly for us – the trees were in full color and the weather mostly cooperated while we were there. The second night we were able to see the stars and MY GOODNESS, it was absolutely spectacular.
It was expected to be pretty chilly during the night, so I brought a 10x20ft tarp to lay on the ground and help insulate against it and I think that helped significantly during our second night when the temp was about 36*. We cooked over the fire mostly for meals, but also drove the few minutes to A&W for root beer floats daily.
The compostable toilet is located behind a small partition to provide a bit of privacy, but there is also a gas station within three minutes of the site so I just drove to use that one mostly. The solar powered fan circulated the air a bit, but there’s only so much you can move the air around in a dome shaped space… it was 70* on our second day and it got warm inside of the dome pretty quickly.
We were able to buy firewood at the Adventure Church lot (five minutes away) and paid $5/bundle in cash at a self-serve stand. This stand is covered, so it had dry wood even after it rained the first night.
We loved how secluded it felt without also feeling like we were in the middle of nowhere. Overall, as the first camp like experience for us, it was a roaring success! Highly highly recommend, 10/10.

We loved staying on Candace’s land! Our kids and dogs felt right at home. It was upscale tent camping. We had a great outdoor fire for breakfast, dinner, and s’mores and a great indoor fire to keep us warm on the cool fall nights.
The beds were comfortable - especially when you’re used to a tent and a camping pad! And the house heated up so nicely. It was really nicely stocked - we normally bring tongs, spatula, etc. but there were some hung on the cabin which was a nice touch. It was really nice not to get service for a few days, enjoy the scenery, and bum around local towns. We’d absolutely stay again. ❤️
