We have a micro organic farm with hundreds of wild apple trees and believe in leaving the land better than we found it. Rob loves permaculture, managing soils, pruning apple trees and feeding his community nutrient dense food. I work as a hospice nurse and help out on the farm when I am able and we have 2 boys, Arlo and Owen. We keep busy! We offer 3 rustic rentals onsite, but each is very private and secluded. Balsam site is a little bit of a hike. It was worth it for us to be right by Lake Superior and the beach. Having the main lodge available to you with hot showers and flush toilets is very nice. Site was really nice. We got our 6p north face down nice and level. It felt really private and the only vehicles we heard at night was planes.
Had a really good time and will go back. Only thing that would have made it better would have been a pit bathroom at the site or closer.

This place is just spectacular. It was our second time and we enjoyed it even more this time around! I love how secluded and alone we felt the whole time, having that big beach to ourselves was incredible. 3 nights at Twisting Twig Gardens and Orchard
We had so much fun at the dome! It's incredibly cozy, the wood stove kept us very warm, and the amenities were perfect for a birthday glamping trip. The sink/stove is very easy to use, porto was clean upon arrival, and meandering through the orchards bird watching made for a lovely morning routine. I'd just point out two things to future travelers to be aware of: flies. Holy guacamole. More flies than I've ever seen or dealt with in my life. There were hundreds, no exaggeration. They mostly left us alone and the hosts had fly paper up that captured most of them but they get inside the dome constantly somehow. Just something to be aware of. The buzzing may keep you up at night without other noise. Secondly, the dome windows and roof are some sort of plastic that are not the most see through. I'm sure that's no fault of the owners but don't expect to stargaze at night. Otherwise though it was a wonderful stay and we would certainly come back again.

Nice spot, very private and well kept. Easy to find and beautiful sunset views! We brought a Subaru Outback with a 15 foot pop-up camper and a tent. It was a tight squeeze to turn the pop-up around, wouldn't try with anything larger. Big Bay Town Park is about 2 miles with trash, toilet/showers and beach access. Easy to get back to town, next time I'll bring a bike for more exploring!

Beautiful and nostalgic stay at Camp Amnicon. The campsites are a bit of a walk in, but it's worth it for the seclusion and peace. The lakeshore is lovely (walk to the west to find some red clay!) and the camp itself had everything we needed. Excellent retreat not too far from the cities.

I loved camping in the Balsam camp site, it is right on the lake trail and far from people as well. At night you can hear the waves from the shoreline and we had no frights of bears or porcupines. The walk in is about half a mile so be prepared for a little trek with all your gear. This campsite had no bear box so we had to hang up our food in the tree overnights. Amazing star gazing on the shore. The showers were clean, the bathrooms were clean, it was an overall great experience :) Will be coming back!

Great for self contained smaller vehicles. Definitely wouldn’t tow anything in there. The gazebo and bbq were helpful. Plenty of dead wood around for a fire. We wished there was beach access but the view was nice. Campsite was fairly clean, we always try to leave places cleaner than how we found them but had to abort when the kids found some interesting trash, maybe there was some honeymooners staying before us lol. Cool quiet spot on an island with not a lot of public access outside the state park. Thanks

Amazing spot on an adorable island. You do need to take a ferry to get to the island but it runs a lot. Spot is a private well maintained wooded lot right on Lake Superior. Not very level but nothing a few blocks couldn’t fix. Would definitely come back!

Tent
It was an awesome place to call home for a weekend. Quiet, heard nothing but the sounds of nature and our camp fire. The site was perfect for pull right up and have a cliff-side view of the nearest Apostle Islands. Will definitely be returning in the future.
