Originally farmed for cattle and sheep with many orchards over the years our property is now mostly mature forest. Southeast Ohio, including our property is known for its hilly topography and microclimates. Hills range from 400 to 1,100 feet. Nearly 500 acres of land with an additional 200+ acres of Wayne National Forest adjacent to our farm and close proximity to other Wayne areas for outdoor activities. We have nearly 10 miles of available trails for hiking. Many activities can be done at or centered around our property. Such as excellent and challenging road biking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, kayaking and boating. We are two miles from the Little Muskingum River. A great river for kayak trips. The Wayne Kinderhook horse and hiking trail is roughly 5 miles from our location. Hike to the Irish Run Natural Land bridge trail also a short drive to the trailhead from our property. Ride your motorcycle up Rt. 26 a great Ohio byway for scenic driving. Dogwood Cabin is an off grid experience. Think glamping. It is set on 25 acres in the rolling hills of Morgan County in southeast OH, close to the village of Chesterhill. Hidden in the woods, back a gravel driveway. No electricity, no running water, no central heat, no WiFi, no cell service. Truly getting out into nature without distractions. Hang your hammock between trees. Build a fire to grill your meals. Relax on the porch swing or by the fire. Hike the property, play in the creek. Dogwood Cabin has a small kitchenette. There is a propane camping stove and some pots, pans, coffee maker, and dishes. We have a grill to place over the fire pit. There are 4 mattresses in the loft. No linens. Bring sleeping bags, etc. No running water. Bring water in jugs for drinking, cleaning up and dousing the fire. Buddy propane heater to take off the chill inside, but not make it cozy. Bring a flashlight or lantern. We have several battery lanterns. On low, the lights should work for 6-8 hours. On high, much less. An outhouse (think wooden porta potty) is not far from the cabin. No cell service or internet. Chesterhill is about 2 miles and has service in numerous places on Main St. We have gone up the hill at the church in Todds - right on Goshen Run, left on St Rt 377, about 2 miles. Firewood is not provided. You can bring your own or scrounge the woods for dead branches and twigs. Please douse the fire before leaving. Rake leaves away from the fire pit. Dry materials could easily start a forest fire. 8 plastic deck chairs are stacked on the porch. Please put them back and secure the cover before you leave. We encourage you to get groceries on your way to the cabin, since it is 30 minutes to a decent grocery store. Chesterhill has Ron's Convenience and Restaurant where you can buy subs, pizza, burgers, fries, and groceries. Triple Nickel Diner in Chesterhill is another neat place to eat. No motorcycles on the driveway. You may enjoy hiking the 25 acres on the property. Nature is awesome, but check yourselves and your pet for ticks. 24 hours before your arrival, you should receive a message with the code to get in at the digital entry door, plus a bit more information that you may enjoy.

Our little campground began as Bailey Wayne Bike Camp. In 2023 we learned that Wayne National Forest wanted to drop "Wayne" from its name, so we decided to rename our campground and campsites in memory of Raleigh and Blue, two wonderful dogs who we wish were still with us. This area was once a booming coal mining town in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The hollow was made up of hundreds of company homes, several mines, and other company buildings. As the mines died, the forest slowly took over. In the 1980s the National Forest began acquiring ownership. Today, we are just a stone's throw from the new Baileys Trail System. My wife and I have been biking for years; we've spent a lot of time camping and biking in OH, KY, WV, and NC. We primarily ride gravel routes on our tandem mountain bike around Athens and Washington Counties in Ohio. Our property is 3 acres, which offers enough room to open up a couple primitive campsites so we can share the peacefulness of the forest.

Dogwood Cabin is an off grid experience. Think glamping. It is set on 25 acres in the rolling hills of Morgan County in southeast OH, close to the village of Chesterhill. Hidden in the woods, back a gravel driveway. No electricity, no running water, no central heat, no WiFi, no cell service. Truly getting out into nature without distractions. Hang your hammock between trees. Build a fire to grill your meals. Relax on the porch swing or by the fire. Hike the property, play in the creek. Dogwood Cabin has a small kitchenette. There is a propane camping stove and some pots, pans, coffee maker, and dishes. We have a grill to place over the fire pit. There are 4 mattresses in the loft. No linens. Bring sleeping bags, etc. No running water. Bring water in jugs for drinking, cleaning up and dousing the fire. Buddy propane heater to take off the chill inside, but not make it cozy. Bring a flashlight or lantern. We have several battery lanterns. On low, the lights should work for 6-8 hours. On high, much less. An outhouse (think wooden porta potty) is not far from the cabin. No cell service or internet. Chesterhill is about 2 miles and has service in numerous places on Main St. We have gone up the hill at the church in Todds - right on Goshen Run, left on St Rt 377, about 2 miles. Firewood is not provided. You can bring your own or scrounge the woods for dead branches and twigs. Please douse the fire before leaving. Rake leaves away from the fire pit. Dry materials could easily start a forest fire. 8 plastic deck chairs are stacked on the porch. Please put them back and secure the cover before you leave. We encourage you to get groceries on your way to the cabin, since it is 30 minutes to a decent grocery store. Chesterhill has Ron's Convenience and Restaurant where you can buy subs, pizza, burgers, fries, and groceries. Triple Nickel Diner in Chesterhill is another neat place to eat. No motorcycles on the driveway. You may enjoy hiking the 25 acres on the property. Nature is awesome, but check yourselves and your pet for ticks. 24 hours before your arrival, you should receive a message with the code to get in at the digital entry door, plus a bit more information that you may enjoy.

Our little campground began as Bailey Wayne Bike Camp. In 2023 we learned that Wayne National Forest wanted to drop "Wayne" from its name, so we decided to rename our campground and campsites in memory of Raleigh and Blue, two wonderful dogs who we wish were still with us. This area was once a booming coal mining town in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The hollow was made up of hundreds of company homes, several mines, and other company buildings. As the mines died, the forest slowly took over. In the 1980s the National Forest began acquiring ownership. Today, we are just a stone's throw from the new Baileys Trail System. My wife and I have been biking for years; we've spent a lot of time camping and biking in OH, KY, WV, and NC. We primarily ride gravel routes on our tandem mountain bike around Athens and Washington Counties in Ohio. Our property is 3 acres, which offers enough room to open up a couple primitive campsites so we can share the peacefulness of the forest.

Road was close but couldn’t hear traffic inside our camper. Well maintained spot. Definitely plan to come back a few times a year while kid is at OU!!

The host was very responsive and kind, and was an excellent host. He got us more firewood when we needed it and even offered us farm fresh eggs. Fantastic! Despite some of the drawbacks others have noted, my now fiance and I had a great time! I booked this cabin because of the incredible privacy, and mainly to propose in Hocking Hills! (She said yes 😎) Craig was a very nice host and made sure the cabin was well stocked. Wife and I had all we needed at the Nature Camper. Camper has water, hot water, stove, oven, fridge, microwave, and a Solo Firepit on the private deck. Lots of charm inside, more like a tiny house with completely new appliances and birch walls. Best of all you are on 500 private acres. We hiked part of the 10 miles of trails in total privacy. Site also has huge grassy tent area you can expand into with large fire-pit - comes with the camper so no neighbors. Owner’s family goes back to the original log cabin, that is still there off one of the trails. Owner has made his own private preserve, He was interesting, respectful and responsive. Camper pdf had all the details you need. Easy drive to Marietta Ohio River historic areas, shopping, dining, activities, and Wayne NF trails. No cell or WiFi but it comes in as you drive down the road. Unplug and enjoy!

Weekend Trip to Benton's on the Baileys

We really enjoyed our stay! The land was beautiful, the spot was private, and we liked having the restrooms down the hill. The two bathrooms were clean and there were showers/towels provided and heaters on, we were surprised at how nice they were. Keith was friendly and carried our stuff up the hill in an ATV even though we had been expecting to do it ourself. The wood is a great deal for $5 and we had a ton of firewood including the deadwood on the ground. We brought our two dogs and it was nice being able to let them run around at the campsite, that was one of the reasons we didn't stay at a standard campground. This place is not too far away from the Hocking Hills trails (about 40 min), and next time we will have to check out the Bailey's trails as they are so convenient to this spot. We didn't have an issues with bugs or wildlife.
