Sorry folks, due to damage and recent zoning laws, our cabin is closed indefinitely. Our dream was to own a log cabin on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River. Sixteen years ago we accomplished that dream, giving us access to a Shenandoah Valley treasure, and yes, we are on the first of the Seven Bends. Although we live in the main log cabin, we are happy to share our tiny living screened cabin over looking the river with many activities available to you. Although we are only minutes from I81, the setting is very private, in the woods behind our home. Park at the main cabin and hike 200 feet down the hill to the secluded River Cabin overlooking the North Fork of the Shenandoah River. You'll have river access for fishing, swimming and paddling (kayaks and canoes provided), or you can just sit on the dock and watch the sunset. Retreat back into the screened cottage for a quiet restful evening or relax on the deck by a fire. We are a Glamping site... like a hotel stay in the woods. Close by are 100's of miles of hiking trails and the charming town of Woodstock,

Our property was a small family farm for several generations. Our family purchased the property about 18 years ago. Since we are not farmers but love living here, the question became "What would be the best use for the land?" Living in a scenic area and already being in the vacation rental business on some other family property answered the question. We decided to share the beautiful view and seclusion of our area with others. Our goal was to keep the cost of building down so that we could pass on the savings to you so that you would not have to be rich to enjoy our lovely area. This inspired the idea of a glamping cabin. The cabin is actually a repurposed office building that was built about the time this property was purchased by our family. We moved it to the present location and completely remodelled it in 2018 and added the bathroom. For 4 years, guests enjoyed an off-the-grid experience. In 2023, when we began work on the glamping dome (stay tuned--coming soon!!), we decided to add electricity, running water, and a hot tub to the tiny house! We hope you enjoy the cabin (and, soon, the dome) and the stunning view from them as much as we enjoy sharing this beautiful spot with you! Note: The Charming Glamping Cabin is at a totally different property. That property also has a section that used to be farmed. Now a lot of it is forest. We purchased the property around 2000. This cabin was built approx. 10 years later. At that point, the cabin was a tiny economy cabin with a sofa bed. However, it seemed most folks preferred comfort over economy, so in 2020, we added a bump-out to the side of the cabin so there would be room for a queen bed. Guests have loved the improvement. Wild Yough is located in Southern Garrett County, Maryland very close to Herrington Manor State Park, Swallows Falls State Park, and the quaint mountain village of Oakland. The property adjoins thousands of acres of Garrett State Forest and hundreds of acres of state land along the Youghiogheny River. The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. Wild Yough Glamping huts are part of more than 350 acres of private land, most of which is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Take the trail to “High Bluff”, then cross the Snyder property line (Permission for trail access only – do not leave trail!), then descend down and cross the bridge across Herrington Manor Creek (a stocked trout stream!). Wild Yough property is to your right along the river and there is a great place for lying in the sun, doing some fishing, or just wading into the cool waters of the Yough on a hot summer day.Learn more about this land:The idea is simple- our glamping site will offer a true camping experience without all the hassles and fuss. With 350 acres of private ground, adjacent to thousands of acres of state park and forest, Wild Yough offers plenty of space to spread out, stretch your legs, watch the deer, and howl with the coyotes. Pansy and Ronnie went above and beyond to make us their largest group ever. Through a combination of tent campers and cabin dwellers we had a great July 4th here. Pansy was responsive along the way with gear questions and vehicle clarifications. We had a range of experience in our group from novice campers to backcountry veterans, and everyone was comfortable, and able to make it a good trip. We had a late night deer visitor one night. We are all spooked for a minute when we saw reflecting eyes in the trees. A great story to tell now. If you’re hiking in Dolly Sods, I think this is one of the best base camps you can ask for. The stove top worked seamlessly and as you can tell from their pics, there is a lot of cooking tools. We definitely brought more gear than we needed to. If your group is splitting up for the day, ask for a second key. They do keep things locked up at all times

The site is so huge and being able to walk directly into the river to have fun and fish is a fabulous bonus. Fishing is amazing here! Ralph and his family are so warm and friendly, just like family!

My partner, dog, and I stayed here a couple days and absolutely loved it!! It is a beautiful, peaceful spot and Pablo and Lorena are such kind hosts. We stayed when the temps were in the mid-90s and with the fan inside and an open, screened window, it was very pleasant to sleep. It gets really hot inside during the day, but there is lots of shade outside and the river area is so nice and refreshing! The fire at night was perfect. They thought of so many details. There's even a nice shower! We will absolutely be back.

The Crow's Nest was the perfect glamping getaway for me and my husband. The cabin was comfortable and cozy. We lived all the little details that made the cabin itself a place to explore and discover. There were books, games, movies, fairy lights, stickers, grilling tools, extra blankets, a dog leash, and a book outlining activities nearby.. The outside of the cabin was just as magical with solar lights, a fire ring, chiminea, trees perfect for hammocks, and cute mushroom caps. The porta john was close without being right on top of you and the outdoor shower at the main cabin was spectacular. We really loved the ride into the camp. Once you cross the one lane, low water bridge, the road quickly turns to gravel and you are driving

The lodge (4 person) was amazing. Simply the best lodge experience so far. The place was more beautiful than the pictures and the hosts provided a lot of useful things in the lodge which we did not expect. Enough space for privacy as other lodges/campsites are well separated. Beautiful lake/pond (it was super clean and blue). Great view of night sky.

Looking for some time in nature my son and I booked at stay the Invisible LOVE house. We loved it. We found it to be very peaceful and relaxing. We would definitely stay again. I loved laying in bed and seeing the sky above me. Pablo was very helpful throughout the booking process and stay. There is a bit of a walk from the parking to the house so be mindful of how much you bring in quantity and weight.

My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of staying at this magical little spot. While we didn’t get to try the kayaking since our stay was short, we were blown away by the peacefulness and beauty of the river. After a long day of road-tripping, we actually showered in the river. It was crystal clear, cool, and incredibly refreshing. The hosts, Pablo and Lorena, were so kind and accommodating. They had a firepit set up and ready for us. All we had to do was light it. We roasted hotdogs over the fire, buns and all, and ended the night with a pot of their homemade blended tea, which was absolutely to die for. The temperature dropped just enough at night to make sleeping so comfortable. The cabin itself was spotless and well-stocked with everything you could need: games, candles, kitchen gear, a mini fridge, fan, and more. It truly felt like a cozy, thoughtful retreat. And the drive in was stunning. Winding through lush green trees with crisp, clean air made the entire journey feel like part of the adventure. I will absolutely be back. Though I hesitate to share this secret because it’s such a rare find. Pablo and Lorena created something really special here, and they deserve every bit of this review.

Twisted Oak Campsite: A medium-sized luxury private site includes potable water and electricity on site, designed for maximum 8 guests with parking for 4 cars on site and has space for several tents. This site has a picnic table, portable toilet, scenic overlook, hammock, fireplace, benches, charcoal grill, and on-site string lights. Red Maple Campsite: A large luxury private site that includes potable water and electricity on site, designed for a maximum 10 guests with on-site parking space that is 90ft long and 20ft wide, for an RV or 6-8 cars and overflow parking for several more cars. It is designed to be backed into with an RV and then pulled out of. This site can handle several tents and has two picnic tables, two portable toilets, a scenic overlook, hammock, fireplace, benches, a charcoal grill, and on-site string lights. Aspen RV Campsite: A medium private luxury drive through site great for RVs, rooftop tents, pop ups or camper vans. This site includes potable water and electricity on site, designed with water and electric hookups for a single camping vehicle, maximum 6 people. This site is a drive through site, so guests don’t have to back in or out. This site also has a picnic table, portable toilet, scenic overlook, hammock, fireplace, charcoal grill, and a bench.

The property is very secluded, but only 2 hrs from D. C. and Baltimore. The space can accommodate 5 tents comfortably or a few small campers (w/o hookups). Please note- I only book one group at a time. You'll have plenty of privacy! Spend your day bird watching on the river deck, put up your hammock and chill, go hiking or mountain biking at Cacapon State Park, take the kayaks out and paddle around, go fishing, or take a float trip. I can provide info on put in/take out spots depending on how long you'd like to float. I have 3 kayaks available for your use, or BYO if you'd like to venture further outside of the property lines. There is one big fire ring for cooking and/or bonfires, along with a large stationary stand up charcoal camp grill. There is also a small communal shed down at camp that contains extra camping supplies, etc.. feel free to use use and put back and or/ contribute to it! :) This spot is close by to Berkeley Springs, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon State Park, and other nature preserves. More hiking, biking, restaurants, spas, antiquing- all within a beautiful 20 minute drive if you wish to venture out. There is a cabin on the property. I will more often be home than not, I will communicate with you about that around your stay. Sometimes I"ll come down to the river frontage if I drop in for a float .Also, we all get around on four wheelers and UTV's. So you will hear them from time to time. If I am home, please feel free to come up if you have any concerns/questions or to say hi! :) *Please note, you can normally get to this site without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, when the river is high it will sometimes flood the low water bridge where it crosses the Cacapon. If this is the case during your stay, I will provide all necessary information regarding projected river levels and directions. I will also offer a full refund if the bridge is impassable. Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to the beginning of October and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail.
