Conscious camping a mile from Sutton Lake Dam in West Virginia. Our campground serves as the perfect retreat. A place to unwind, with minimal to no traffic. Off a backroad, with a few creek crossings along the way. You know you are really out in nature. Our property offers lots of places to hike, although in the heart of summer, it can get a little overgrown (Plus critters, yikes!) The creek that runs up the Holler is the perfect place to explore. Low enough to tromp around and catch some minnows. The real winner is Kookie's homecooked meals available for purchase. Using the best ingredients around. Often organic and locally sourced. We can sell eggs, make traditional Spanish bread, offer various treats, homemade delicious ice cream, or even prepare full meals for your crew! Check out our 'Extra's for ordering. Whether you are here to relax and unwind, or enjoy the wild outdoor adventures such as kayaking and hiking. Lots of horseback riding opportunities, or take a walk along the Elk River Trail. Perhaps you are here to meet Braxxie, the Flatwoods Monster. Speaking of... are you interesting in Cryptics? Bigfoot? Ghost stories? Monsters? Do we have some stories for you. Visit our local theatre and catch a live play this summer. Take a seat at the Cinema, grabbing a bite to eat at the Marquee Grill. Visit the Farmers Market on Summer Saturday Mornings. Catch a game of Magic the Gathering or play Nintendo at the Cardboard Colosseum. We are a working farm and do have a flock of Chickens and Guinea fowl. We also are very Kitty friendly here. Unfortunately no dogs permitted at the 'Fairyland' property. However, you can keep your friendly dog on our 'Down the Holler' site. There is always a friendly animal to visit with. Please make sure you are respectful to our home and animals. Keep in mind, the creek can run high in bad weather, so I recommend an all wheel drive car, or with high clearance. That being said, small cars will get through when the creek is down. This is primitive camping. No toilet or shower our amenities are available.

We have 14 groomed campsites along Cheat River in Rowlesburg, WV. One of our accommodations is a small caboose! There are fire rings, picnic tables, and tent pads. The Bathhouse and Lounge are available 24-7 exclusively for our guests. The campground is adjacent to our Lodge and boat rental businesses. Two state parks are within 25 miles: Blackwater Falls and Canaan. The Allegheny Trail cuts through Rowlesburg. We have inflatable river rafts, toys, a bounce house, and slides.

Alright y'all, kind of a long review here, but let me get ahead and say, the site was well taken care of with table and benches available along with a Adirondack chairs and a firepit. There is an awesome stream right next to the site and a short trail nearby with access to a swimming /watering hole. The owners of the property were incredibly welcoming and kind; and asked if I needed anything! Bring a camera and tripod for milky way photography at night....without the moon, I could see EVERY STAR. I would absolutely recommend going here if you want to detach from modern life. There is absolutely zero cellphone reception, so plan accordingly. (Download your driving directions!) This wonderful site gave me a chance to detach and catch up on a few books. The owners are pet friendly, and allowed me to have my pup off leash, but she is well trained and was with me the whole time. Ten out of ten, would recommend.

Beautiful, peaceful spot! Conveniently located near the town of Parsons for quick runs to the gas station, McDonald’s, or Dollar General, yet still close to scenic nature trails and Blackwater Falls State Park. I felt very welcomed, and my space was respected throughout my stay. Plus, you can even bring your fur babies! I’ll definitely be back.

Spearmint Patch was a great little spot! We stayed during the fall and the foliage was beautiful. Our pups had an awesome time being able to be off leash. But hands down, you can’t beat the proximity of this campsite from the Seneca Rocks trails. Would definitely recommend to others interested in hitting the trail during their stay. The road did have more traffic than expected, but it seems like that was just the timing due to a project being done further up the roadway.

Tommy's place is gorgeous land! There are nice fields and woods. It felt entirely safe for women to camp alone. It was easy to find using the instructions and we didn't need 4wd. Would definitely go back! Tommy is delightful and didn't make fun of me when I said I saw a big bear. It was really a cow in the neighbor's pasture, way off in the distance.

We are fortunate enough to start our camping adventures on Sunday nights. There have been only a couple of other guests here since we got here on Sunday. It is raining today, but very enjoyable. We got to cook breakfast over the campfire and we’ll just improvise this evening. This place is real getting back to nature. It’s good to just enjoy the quiet of nature. This is our second trip to this campground we rate it pretty high.

We enjoyed Site #4. On end, no one drove by us. On bank of rive.r. little path through over growth to the river. Campsites side by side. Luckily only one quiet person next door to us for one of the two nights. Def offf main road, 3 miles. About 15 minutes to town of Phillippi, WV. Owner came first night with wood. Get what ya need then...like 4 big bundles for two nights. We ran out with just two. Enjoyed the moonrise and stars!!!!

Nice stop in the woods along river. We stayed in an RV Spot that had electric and fresh mountain water if you needed it. The Grounds are spread out well. Its more for tents and boondoockers. Would suggest to come with full fresh water tanks and empty gray and black before coming. The road to the campground is a bit narrow, curvy, but doable. Be prepared to move over at times to let a cars pass opposite direction. We had a 25ft Class C. All in all it was quiet at night. The river was low but I suspect some good fishing during stock time.

Friendly owners and workers. If you need anything ask Vince or Jim! Always around to help. Spacious spot for our 17 foot RV and truck. RV1. So much to do within the area for your day trips. Some two hours away but worth the trip. Some half hour away and great too! Plan a week to see it all! Cute buses you can rent and a tipi (tee pee). Which is awesome!!
