Was so happy to be able to repurchase the 150 acres back in 2016,now own the original land tract and added more. 250 acres in total. Portions were strip mined around 1978-1982 creating some flat fields and access to all property. I might add that strip mining if done properly can and does enhance the property. Welcome to Our Homestead Campground! Our secluded 80-acre farm is nestled in a valley between three mountains, where two babbling creeks meet—over two miles from the nearest residence. We raise chickens, ducks, and pigs while practicing permaculture and organic farming, using solar energy for parts of our operation. Enjoy the peace and quiet of our hideaway with modern conveniences like electricity and internet. We’re happy to share our homestead lifestyle or simply provide a quiet place for you to relax. Camp at the Main Circle near our home trailer, cabana, and bonfire area, with access to electricity and Wi-Fi. For a more rustic experience, Kolb Field offers a peaceful spot along Coon Creek, shaded by a majestic walnut tree. You’re also welcome to camp almost anywhere on the property to find your perfect spot. A lightly traveled public dirt road runs through our property. While an SUV or 4x4 is recommended, regular cars can access the site, and we have parking for standard vehicles. Please check with us in advance if you plan to bring an RV. Our farm is a great destination for overland camping—perfect for getting your truck a little dirty! We are cautiously dog-friendly. Our farm dogs patrol the property to protect our free-roaming animals, so visiting dogs must be well-behaved, leashed, and comfortable around other animals. If you're unsure about compatibility, please reach out for advice. Our dogs will come to your camp to "check you out". If your dog has a problem with other dogs that are new to them you must let us know so we can control our dogs. We have had people come with problem dogs and not tell us so, we are asking for a $1 extra that we now require as a pet fee. While you're here, visit our local businesses in Gassaway. At Bigfoot Braxxie's Bikes, you can rent a bike and explore the 40-mile Elk River Rail Trail. Trailhead Farm Meats & More offers our farm-raised, all-natural meats and other local products. Conscious camping a mile from Sutton Lake Dam in West Virginia. Our campground serves as the perfect retreat. A place to unwind, with minimal to no traffic. Off a backroad, with a few creek crossings along the way. You know you are really out in nature. Our property offers lots of places to hike, although in the heart of summer, it can get a little overgrown (Plus critters, yikes!) The creek that runs up the Holler is the perfect place to explore. Visit our local theatre and catch a live play this summer. Take a seat at the Cinema, grabbing a bite to eat at the Marquee Grill. Visit the Farmers Market on Summer Saturday Mornings. Catch a game of Magic the Gathering or play Nintendo at the Cardboard Colosseum. We are a working farm and do have a flock of Chickens and Guinea fowl. We also are very Kitty friendly here. Unfortunately no dogs permitted at the 'Fairyland' property. However, you can keep your friendly dog on our 'Down the Holler' site. There is always a friendly animal to visit with. Please make sure you are respectful to our home and animals. Keep in mind, the creek can run high in bad weather, so I recommend an all wheel drive car, or with high clearance. That being said, small cars will get through when the creek is down. This is primitive camping. No toilet or shower our amenities are available.

Foodland and Dollar General 8 minute drive, for any necessities you may have forgot. McDonalds, Pizza Hut and Tudors are located nearby. Close to Burnsville Lake, Sutton Lake, Glenville University, Sue Morris Sports Complex. The New River Gorge is approximately 85 miles away, an easy day trip. I think this site is as-described in the listing! It’s a convenient location to several of the national park trailheads. The outhouse is cute and clean - you just take the trail that goes over the bridge and up the stone steps and you’ll find it (the tp is in the plastic tubs - I missed it at first!). I camped in my car just because the site is in a little rural neighborhood and directly across from a house - it seemed nice and safe, but as a single woman camper with my dog, I just felt more comfortable in a locked car. The only thing I’d change is maybe the fire pit walls being a little higher - it’s pretty low to the ground and I was worried about the sparks!

Amazing spot John was very welcoming the entire time we felt at home. There’s 250 acres of nothing but stunning views. There’s a ton of stuff to do right there skeet shooting a cute little putting green there are five ponds perfect for fishing. The little touches aren’t to be missed either the cute on site shower house with laundry *chefs kiss the bird houses the cute I assume from family named roads and alleys even a 55 miles according an hours sign…. If you’re looking for a place to get away and forget the world this is the place!!!! 10 out of 10 recommend

This is a lovely and easy to access site in a dispersed residential area. You're in the woods but next to a driveway. The setting is a charming Appalachian scene, complete with a small creek, a foot bridge, mature trees and walking paths. It is well-maintained and very clean, including the composting outhouse. The location is a couple minutes from the NRG Visitor's Center, so its perfect for local touring.

Absolutely loved it here! The view was incredible, and it was so peaceful. Loved hearing all the animals, and waking up to a field of horses behind our campsite was just the coolest. The bath/shower house was the best bonus! Our hosts were kind and patient as we arrived later than expected (but still made it right at the latest check-in time). Cheryl provided excellent directions which made it easy to find!

Very quiet and peaceful site. I stayed a few nights and enjoyed the stay. My Garmin GPS took me directly to the site so no issues with that and as stated, no cell service with att or Verizon, which is actually nice. Water, porta potty, showers, firewood, don't need much else.

We had a great time on Aprils property. We were secluded with Mountain View's in every direction, it was breathtaking. Very quiet and well maintained spot. April and her husband were some of the kindest people we've met. They ley my kids feed the chickens and sheep and their dogs were the best, the kids played with them a lot. 3 nights at River Trail Hollow

Steve's campground was an excellent place to stay along the Greenbrier River. Its a very thought out place, very peaceful with nice amenities. We're so glad they keep their mowing to a minimum to allow native plants and moss to grow. Native plants don't foster as many mosquitoes as conventional non-native grasses and we didnt have bug problems. The creek was super nice and so was the firewood. Looking forward to coming back!
