Close to Snowshoe Mountain, at only 1 mile drive from the entrance to Snowshoe Mountain Resort.
This is a great spot for mountain bikers and river lovers. So close to snowshoe and affordable makes this an easy decision. Also the wildlife, flowers, and river on the property make this a truly powerful place. There is some traffic and noise from the road but it quiets down through the night and all you can hear is the trickle of the stream.
We have a lovely 20 acre are that has easy to pull up to camp sites and some that take a short walk but are able to camp right near the river bed. We offer camping for all ranges of groups and travelers. We have campsites for tents, cars and vans, big RV's and Trailers, and then group sized sites. Please contact us and we can accommodate you in any size or style. We have cheap options for the solo and travelers on budgets and we have some nice options to get furnished tents and private fireplaces, with private river views and beach/play areas.

Property was owned by my great grandfather , He lost 150 acres in the early 1900's due to a bad debt from neighboring landowner. Was so happy to be able to repurchase the 150 acres back in 2016,now own the original land tract and added more. 250 acres in total. Portions were strip mined around 1978-1982 creating some flat fields and access to all property. I might add that strip mining if done properly can and does enhance the property. Ponds were built to catch runoff and several new animal species moved in waterfowl ,muskrats, and beavers. The beavers have constructed large dams on property further adding to the beauty. Have seen several bald eagles on and around the property.

You’re also welcome to camp almost anywhere on the property to find your perfect spot.
A lightly traveled public dirt road runs through our property. While an SUV or 4x4 is recommended, regular cars can access the site, and we have parking for standard vehicles. Please check with us in advance if you plan to bring an RV. Our farm is a great destination for overland camping—perfect for getting your truck a little dirty!
We are cautiously dog-friendly. Our farm dogs patrol the property to protect our free-roaming animals, so visiting dogs must be well-behaved, leashed, and comfortable around other animals. If you're unsure about compatibility, please reach out for advice. Our dogs will come to your camp to "check you out". If your dog has a problem with other dogs that are new to them you must let us know so we can control our dogs. We have had people come with problem dogs and not tell us so, we are asking for a $1 extra that we now require as a pet fee.

Camp Lucky Otter now offers a camper! It includes a short queen bed, dining nook, coffee bar, a mini fridge,+ camp essentials + space to store your things. Camp offers: a camp stove, porta potty, outdoor sink, firewood, outdoor cook area, and deck. Camp does NOT offer: an indoor kitchen or shower (yet!) Lucky Otter is half an acre of forest with beautiful, subtle views of Summersville Lake. This camp is next door to a cabin with friendly / respectful tenants. It is a shared driveway but campers park in a low spot at the bottom of the driveway -- not up by cabin. There is a tall fence to separate camp from the cabin but it is close by. Please note that the camper itself only sleeps two -- if you book for four -- 2 folks will need to tent camp.
There is so much to enjoy at Lucky Otter: the lake breeze, shady forest canopy, birdsong, room for activities, camp meals, and time around the campfire. Bird sounds prevail over boat noise -- which only occurs during busy season and during the day. At night, you will drift asleep to peaceful nature noises. Lucky Otter is a haven for campers, climbers, and lake folk alike. Rest at camp or venture off to the crags (very close to the Meadow and the Lake) or nearby hiking trails. We are just minutes from Battle Run Boat Launch, Gauley River put-in, and Summersville Dam. Drive just a mere 5 minutes and explore or picnic at Carnifex Ferry State Park -- they have the best panoramic river view! Check out Ample Pizza and Freefolk Brewery -- just a quick 12 minute drive -- and halfway to the National Park! We are a quick trip to the New River Gorge National Park (about 15 miles) and just a twenty minute drive from downtown Fayetteville. Explore Fayette Station where you can find a river front beach, waterfalls, and hiking trails. We offer the perfect spot to relax with your friends or family. Pups are totally welcome -- they must be leashed. Please note that the steep sloping hill past the two adirondack chairs at the bottom of camp that goes down to the lake is NOT our property but the Army Corps. Meadowcroft is a semi-primitive cabin on the bank of the beautiful Meadow River. Swim, fish, and hang out with the river otters. Our farm is also home to a miniature horse and chickens.
In addition to the NRG and Summersville Lake and Dam, also close by are Carnifex Ferry Battleground State Park where you can see where a crucial civil war battle took place, as well as Babcock State Park with its iconic grist mill and waterfall.
We provide 5 sites on our farm for every camping style, from electric and water RV hookup, dry RV to tent, each with a canopy shelter, table, fire pit and grill. All sites are spaciously separate from one another for privacy and perfect for couples who want to get away from it all, or for families or groups of friends who want to reconnect and catch up.
Clean portajohns are provided as well as a common area with a dishwashing station and a "to die for" outdoor hot water shower (above-freezing temperatures permitting)! Dishwashing station and hot water shower does not apply to the Gauley River Adventure site.

This is a perfect location for doing anything in the area. It is tucked away into a little neighborhood but affords plenty of privacy. The site is so perfectly and thoughtfully put together. You can tell that the placement of everything both inside and outside of the camper was deliberate. Arriving on the first day was full of pleasant surprises that I won't spoil here. The site is well-stocked with almost anything you could possibly need. As a result, we really didn't require much from the hostess, Elle, but she made it very clear she was prepared to address any issues that might arise. It is such a charming little site and if we are ever back in in the area, we would not hesitate to stay at the Lucky Otter again.

We tent camped here through a huge rainstorm, our site remained dry. The creek next to it never got up to where we were concerned about it getting into our site. The restrooms were exceptionally clean, well lit, and well stocked. The showers were great! The best outdoor showers I’ve used in a campground by far. Access was very easy, the campground feel is very private and secluded although it’s close to so much activity along the Greenbrier river. Other sites in the campground are not to close, you can have conversations at a normal speaking volume and never be heard. Most if not all sites are well shaded. Grass is mown for your site and a picnic table and fire ring is also at each site. This was an absolute dream of a campground 10/10 would go back anytime! Also the owner would come through every couple of days asking for feedback or things we may think needed improvement. Extremely friendly and welcoming!

Susan was so welcoming and made sure we had a great time despite the rain! Like others have mentioned, the shower is great (and hot!). The road to get to the campground is unpaved for about 1.5 miles, but my partner and I made the trip in a Bronco Sport with no trouble. Highly recommend!

Our RV full hook-up site was fairly level with only minor side-to-side and front-to-back leveling needed. Our site was maybe 30 feet from the river - great background noise to enjoy an evening around the firepit, although didn't see any trout. Be aware, the locals cruise the streets and off road trails on noisy quads. This absolutely stopped after dark. As for nearby activities: definitely drive to Helvetia, park and walk the town. If you can visit before the end of June 2026 drop by the authentic swiss store/post office - they are closing the doors at the end of June. Definelty book a reservation at The Hutte for early dinner (they close at 6PM) for traditional swiss/German cuisine. Walk through the restaurant- it's like a local historic museum. Everybody is super friendly so remember to wave. Take it easy on the roads with your rig - they are very winding and hilly.

Great property. Set way back in a meadow. They directed me to a nice level area to set up. Table and fire pit with firewood. The landscape was great, there was a heavy fog during my visit so missed out on the views.

1 night at Ray's Campground
The host is very friendly and quick to offer the use of the clubhouse and kitchen facilities.
The campground has a very laid back vibe.
We rented the Idaho cabin and it was very comfortable. A floor fan and space heater are provided if you need them.
We were there on a Thursday night and it was very quiet.

Private site. Lots of permanent campers around. Good price. Low cell signal on all major carriers. Host provided wifi, but seemed to disconnect randomly. Reasonably priced. Host and neighbors were welcoming. New River Gorge, 45 minutes away. Access road gravel and bumpy.
