Close to Snowshoe Mountain, at only 1 mile drive from the entrance to Snowshoe Mountain Resort.
This is a great spot for mountain bikers and river lovers. So close to snowshoe and affordable makes this an easy decision. Also the wildlife, flowers, and river on the property make this a truly powerful place. There is some traffic and noise from the road but it quiets down through the night and all you can hear is the trickle of the stream.
We have a lovely 20 acre are that has easy to pull up to camp sites and some that take a short walk but are able to camp right near the river bed. We offer camping for all ranges of groups and travelers. We have campsites for tents, cars and vans, big RV's and Trailers, and then group sized sites. Please contact us and we can accommodate you in any size or style. We have cheap options for the solo and travelers on budgets and we have some nice options to get furnished tents and private fireplaces, with private river views and beach/play areas.

Property was owned by my great grandfather , He lost 150 acres in the early 1900's due to a bad debt from neighboring landowner. Was so happy to be able to repurchase the 150 acres back in 2016,now own the original land tract and added more. 250 acres in total. Portions were strip mined around 1978-1982 creating some flat fields and access to all property. I might add that strip mining if done properly can and does enhance the property. Ponds were built to catch runoff and several new animal species moved in waterfowl ,muskrats, and beavers. The beavers have constructed large dams on property further adding to the beauty. Have seen several bald eagles on and around the property.

A lightly traveled public dirt road runs through our property. While an SUV or 4x4 is recommended, regular cars can access the site, and we have parking for standard vehicles. Please check with us in advance if you plan to bring an RV. Our farm is a great destination for overland camping—perfect for getting your truck a little dirty!
We are cautiously dog-friendly. Our farm dogs patrol the property to protect our free-roaming animals, so visiting dogs must be well-behaved, leashed, and comfortable around other animals. If you're unsure about compatibility, please reach out for advice. Our dogs will come to your camp to "check you out". If your dog has a problem with other dogs that are new to them you must let us know so we can control our dogs. We have had people come with problem dogs and not tell us so, we are asking for a $1 extra that we now require as a pet fee.

We are close enough that if you need a cup of sugar or a telephone, we’re here for you—but we won’t intervene in your stay unless invited to, such as for a live guitar singalong by the fireside ;-) If you stay up late howling at the moon, or if your dog barks at wildlife late at night, you’re far enough away that we won’t be bothered.
The property fronts a serene creek with truly pristine water. Due to the remoteness of the area, there is no industry or population density to pollute it. It’s perfect for cooling off on a warm day, trying your luck at fishing, or simply enjoying the tranquil sounds of flowing water.
There are multiple large, semi-level areas perfect for setting up tents or parking self-contained RVs, giving you plenty of room to spread out and make yourself at home. We flattened out a creekside 9x10’ tent site.
This is a true off-grid experience. Come prepared to disconnect, as there is no phone service, but we have installed WiFi. Enjoy the stars free from city light pollution.

Lucky Otter is a haven for campers, climbers, and lake folk alike. Rest at camp or venture off to the crags (very close to the Meadow and the Lake) or nearby hiking trails. We are just minutes from Battle Run Boat Launch, Gauley River put-in, and Summersville Dam. Drive just a mere 5 minutes and explore or picnic at Carnifex Ferry State Park -- they have the best panoramic river view! Check out Ample Pizza and Freefolk Brewery -- just a quick 12 minute drive -- and halfway to the National Park! We are a quick trip to the New River Gorge National Park (about 15 miles) and just a twenty minute drive from downtown Fayetteville. Explore Fayette Station where you can find a river front beach, waterfalls, and hiking trails. We offer the perfect spot to relax with your friends or family. Pups are totally welcome -- they must be leashed. Please note that the steep sloping hill past the two adirondack chairs at the bottom of camp that goes down to the lake is NOT our property but the Army Corps. During normal business hours (generally Monday-Friday), you may occasionally hear or see construction activity in this central area. Because the property is over 235 acres, there are numerous quiet camping locations well away from the construction zone. Even during construction, only one Hipcamp reservation is accepted at a time, so your group continues to enjoy exclusive access to the property.
Occasionally, foresters, environmental specialists, or USDA/Virginia Department of Forestry personnel may visit to monitor the forest or ongoing conservation projects.
Visible wildlife trail cameras are used solely to monitor wildlife and property conditions—they are never hidden and are not intended for guest surveillance.

In addition to the NRG and Summersville Lake and Dam, also close by are Carnifex Ferry Battleground State Park where you can see where a crucial civil war battle took place, as well as Babcock State Park with its iconic grist mill and waterfall.
We provide 5 sites on our farm for every camping style, from electric and water RV hookup, dry RV to tent, each with a canopy shelter, table, fire pit and grill. All sites are spaciously separate from one another for privacy and perfect for couples who want to get away from it all, or for families or groups of friends who want to reconnect and catch up.
Clean portajohns are provided as well as a common area with a dishwashing station and a "to die for" outdoor hot water shower (above-freezing temperatures permitting)! Dishwashing station and hot water shower does not apply to the Gauley River Adventure site.

Meredith has created a serene spot in the middle of the Highlands. We loved the running creek and the open field filled with butterflies. We had our dog with us and he loved the freedom their camp allowed. The clean composting toilet was a great addition. Just down the road we discovered a maple syrup store and kitchen. You can sample there syrup and tour their kitchen we are planning our next trip.

Nice spot, not very busy on the weekdays we were there, Mon-Thur. Site #5 did feel a little secluded, but again, wasn't super busy. Pretty wildflowers around the site, and great bird watching, with some deer visitors in the evening. Good for night sky watching before the wildfire smoke came in, but couldn't be helped. Hot shower was also a nice bonus. Would absolutely visit again.

Nice showers and restrooms at the Community Center. Camping in the pasture was a delight. Site was well cut grass. Quiet. Dark. Restful. Just what I was looking for.

Steve's campground was an excellent place to stay. It was close enough to town that we could make trips back and forth and there was no shortage of activities to do within a 10 mile drive.

Excellent location. Great campground with nice bathrooms and outdoor showers. Dish washing station and available firewood was convenient. The first bundle being free was nice. It was very peaceful and felt secluded while actually being close to the things you want and need. We loved it.

Private, peaceful and beautiful location right on the bank of Upper Back Creek. Amazing stars. Cute, clean outhouse. Very nice host as well. I wish vehicles could get to the lower level but not the case. Suggest BYO firewood.

Absolutely LOVED this campsite!!! It was the complete seclusion we were looking for while also feeling somewhat safe and secure knowing we could lock the driveway gate behind us on this sprawling property. We saw a bear the moment we pulled in on the drive up to our site. And setting up camp on the peak with the incredible mountain views was unbeatable. The stars at night were INSANE!! Christina was a very helpful host with great local recommendations. Would stay at this property over and over again 10/10

Beautiful spot, clear directions, and I had a choice of where to camp when I got there. Carl made sure I had what I needed and answered all my questions. Watched the plethora of deer, sunset, and fireflies. Woke up to a fields full of lovely mist - if you want to recreate “pride and prejudice field walking vibes” this is absolutely the place to do it.

What an amazing property Steve is sharing with us. While, this is my first HipCamp, my g/f says this is the best HipCamp she has ever been to. Spacious sites, green and the creek flowing. We were so impressed by our schedule one night there, we came back about 4 days later for another night. I highly recommend River Trail Hollow HipCamp.

Sight RS10 is very private. Had no issues the three nights we were there. You can hear the creek and the frogs at night. A very peaceful place sleep.

The cabin was a great way to unplug and get away for awhile. I enjoyed coffee on the porch in the morning next to the river. It was closely located to many trails, parks and lakes. (10-20 minutes)
Ryan was a great host and communicated promptly!
Highly recommend.
