Over 100 years ago this historic location was once a “Siding” (loading zone) along the railroad where hundreds of sheep would board from the nearby ranches. Today, it’s a desolate, 160 acres of high desert sage where the only noise you hear at night are the coyotes. Just five miles off of I-84, ten minutes from Arlington, and 25 from Boardman. This small 25-acre ranch is just in the early stages of development. We are repairing fences and watering. I just added solar power and several electrical upgrades for RV's. The property has a 2000 feet of grass runway with an airplane hangar, so you could fly it if you have a STOHL airplane. The irrigation pond/pond yard area is currently available for camping. Many wineries, brewies and outdoor activities available in the area. Children can help feed or water the pigs and perhaps the chickens. Be aware though when piglets are around at times they are very small and are amazing escaped artists so do not keep food out unless you want to try and pet one they are friendly. We are more than happy to help suggest wineries and brewies in the area or enjoy the bar area we have! We offer several campsites as well as an in-ground greenhouse as listings. Guests love staying with us: "The pond at Willow Barn Ranch was picturesque. Show us around the property. It's very quiet and peaceful, and you can tell you take good care of your land. Wide open spaces." Please be aware that we do not allow parking on grass without explicit permission which is always handled on site. Vehicles will most likely not be permitted on the grass itself with rare exceptions.

Learn more about this land: PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING We have a small area in our Alpaca pasture designated for campers. We are a short drive (2miles) to down town Hermiston. Our ranch has been here since the 1940's and has decreased in size since its days as a potato farm. The Alpacas are shy but curious. They are not dangerous but do not like dogs 🐕‍🦺 and other small animals. (Please keep pets on a leash) We remove the Alpacas and mow the camping areas but please keep in mind that this is a pasture that is used when campers are not present. Please be prepared. This is a working ranch and there will be animals🦙 , bugs🐜 , and poop💩 in the pasture. River Front Park on the Umatilla River is within walking distance and the Columbia River is a short drive. In the summer we have several farms in the area with fresh produce for sale and  Blueberry picking just down the road. You won't want to leave town without picking up a world famous Hermiston Watermelon! Come stay with us "Where Life is Sweet!"

Natural Maximum Alpacas

Natural Maximum Alpacas is now open for farm tours! The spacious, park-like grounds are adorned with giant sycamore trees, a water garden with a waterfall, a reflexology pathway, and many beautiful flower and garden displays. During your tour, you'll have the opportunity to see, touch, and feel our cashmere-like alpaca fiber, as well as explore a variety of handmade finished products. Linda Mackey creates unique felted derby hats, crocheted scarves, gloves, and hats without using patterns, making every piece one of a kind. Have fun trying on the felted hats, just like in the good old days. Hats are making a comeback, especially those crafted from luxurious alpaca fiber. Be sure to check out our alpaca loofah soap, available unscented and wrapped in a rainbow of Kool-Aid-dyed colors. We call these colorful bars "Alloofahpaca Soap." Feed and get to know the alpacas as they grow the fiber that is transformed into roving, felt, batting, and luxurious yarn. Our alpacas are sheared once a year, and their fiber is sent to a mill for processing. Visitors are invited to watch this fascinating process free of charge during our annual spring shearing event. Give us a call to schedule your tour. Tours are available from late April through October, weather permitting.
