Homesteaders came here in 1890, prior to that there was no human habitation. A perfect base camp to explore the many varied facets of the West side of the Olympic Peninsula. The campsites are on acreage of a very small off-grid farm. Relax and forget the stress.
There are 6 tent sites and 2 small RV sites. Toilets are available, as well as trash bins, potable water, and picnic tables. We do not allow pets.

The campsite was tidy and exactly what we imagined. Plenty of room

Imagine the friendliness of staying at a distant cousin's organic farm, with the facilities of a top-notch campsite. Only regret was that we were crashing there quickly, and weren't able to stay longer and relax on-site. Pleasant Places campground is clean, quiet, spacious, and private with lots of nooks for R& as well as ample space for play and activities. It is an ideal location for large groups and in order to keep camp as a single site, largeer groups are given preference. Centrally located and with 10 acres of field, forest, and farm, there is something of interest for everyone.
In camp you will find a rustic kitchen, two 6' picnic tables, and a fire pit with accessories. There is a resource area near the house with an electrical outlet and a Flexzilla water hose, so bring containers. We have really nice firewood bundles as well as fresh eggs for sale and lawn games, hammocks, etc., available for rent.
While the campsite, play field, and driveway loops are mowed, most of the grounds are wild, so bring your tromping shoes. Birdsong comes early here, and the night is filled with the sounds of crickets. No city lights, so the stargazing is wonderful.
The goats are gentle, curious, and deep body scratch lovers. The chickens and ducks are not hands-on but some, especially the ducks, will eat out of your hands. The local fauna include deer, skunk, coyote, rabbit, weasel, and possum--bear and cat are not common, but please do be conscientious about leaving food out and keep the lid on the compost.
While there isn't water on the property, Mayfield, Ike Kinswa, and Riffe lakes are all 20-30 minutes from here and provide lots of boating, swimming, and fishing opportunities. Carlisle Lake offers walking trails, outdoor exercise equipment, fishing, summer concerts, and a playground, and is just a five-minute drive from camp.
We are midway between Portland and Seattle and just 15 minutes off of I-5 making Pleasant Places a perfect meet-in-the-middle location. Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, the East Side, and the Pacific Coast are all day trips, just an hour or two from here.

Sound View Camp and Retreat Center is open to all! Come camp for a weekend, book a retreat, a wedding or a special event. We love family groups, school groups, homeschool groups, retreat groups, youth ministry and scouts. Really, if you love camping and a rustic feel, Sound View is for you. We're on 100 acres with sandy beaches, forested trails and lots of fun recreational activities for families and friends. This is a beautiful, quiet, and comfortable campsite! We were especially impressed by the shared kitchen - as it was quite cold while we were there! The kitchen is lovely, with a wood cookstove. We loved staying with Paul and Carol, who are very interesting and friendly.

The campground was in a beautiful corner of the earth and owned by a kind, friendly couple. The campsite felt private and had it all; a bench, water, a fire pit and a tent platform. We enjoyed cooking in the communal kitchen with a wood stove. I highly recommend!

This was an absolutely wonderful place to camp with dogs. We had six dogs among three people and had such a wonderful time on this property! The dogs were safe and entertained and had plenty of space to run and explore and play. We were able to go and enjoy the visiting goats and the ducks and the chickens. Sarah and her partner were super wonderful and welcoming, and we had a great time renting some of the games they had available.

We had the best time at Summers Pleasant places! Three of us and six dogs, the mostly fenced in property and being away from the road created such a relaxing and stress-free few days. This was such a convenient location, close to convenience stores but having the whole back area of the property felt very private. We didn’t mind the farm animal noises or the other regular rural sounds. It didn’t bother us at all. Visiting with the chickens, and goats was definitely a highlight as well. The kitchen sink and counter space was incredibly helpful and well designed! It was so nice to not have to bring all of that extra gear. We loved being about to have a fire to cook over and cozy up to at night. Summer was very communicative and hospitable, answering all of our questions and accommodating us at her place on such short notice. We can’t wait to come back so the dogs can run free in the field again!

I loved camping here. We easily fit 5 tents and 5 cars. The shelters made for a perfect escape from the rain at night while playing games and in the morning while drinking coffee. The kitchen shelter (which we called chow hall all weekend) is well designed with a space for a camping stove and a bookshelf right outside. Brian was also the ideal host: he was attentive when you needed him, and provided water for the weekend. It was a great place for 11 humans and three dogs.

Wonderful little spot north of Hoquiam! Sandy was very friendly and accommodating . I was the only one there when I went. The spot is near a road but it wasn’t too loud, it was quite peaceful at night!

We enjoyed our campsite and the communal spaces provided by the host. Our nights were quiet, but we still enjoyed the hoot of an occasional owl. A mist-covered mountain is a great view with a morning coffee. The property location is perfect for enjoying nearby hiking trails.

A very peaceful site and I like that there’s only a handful of sites, a community kitchen and the host was super friendly, greeted upon arrival and left us alone (unless we needed something) which was awesome. Lots of nature and fun listening to the owls all night!

Paul’s place is well designed, with some privacy between each camp site. The tent platforms and picnic tables were great! The communal kitchen and outhouse were well maintained and clean. And the chickens were a delight!

Had a lovely time with friends. Stargazing was excellent the first night with the milkyway just visible. Animals abound: deer, chicken, and horses in the area and elk, snakes, and salmon in the nearby parks. Little shed is a great spot for games and late night chats. The main area has a covered spot for cooking. Plenty of spots to place a tent not all are level but mostly inclined to one direction with little microterrain. Bathroom was an appreciated amenity.

We just had our family reunion here & it was perfect! Very nice & level play area that had a volleyball net already up & it accommodated our Badminton, Corn hole, croquet, bocce ball amongst others. The kids loved running around playing Light Up sq Lazer tag at night too.
Several cubby areas that worked for tents, we also had 2 RV’s & a Sprinter and room for all our cars/trucks.
The kitchen area was bigger & better than expected & 2 picnic tables for us to play games as well.
We all congregated around our RV spot at night for campfire (fire ring since fire ban) & fellowship. We were all up very late, it was so nice not having a curfew!
They let us enjoy their goats, which the kids absolutely loved!
The property is fenced & gated so we could let our dogs off leash with so much room for them to roam & explore.
They had an outhouse too.
The property is easy to get to & not far off of I-5, but you feel like you’re secluded in the woods! It’s perfect
We all can’t wait to come back!

We did eventually drive by Amanda Park and can say that it is very close to all the nature that the southeast part of the Olympic national rainforest offers
