Great for groups
Recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp is great for larger groups.
Private camp on 18 acres, There is one main camp with a fire pit, one picnic shelter, and a tiny building that is great shelter when needed and the table flips up so you can camp inside if necessary. The camp is up a steep hill that isn't a problem for most cars but it's not ideal for big R/V's or motor homes. Guests love it here: "This campsite is pure magic and the host was wonderful, hospitable, kind and accommodating. Highly recommended for anyone needing time to center themselves, and or have a great time with friends and family."Private gated camp. One main camp with a fire pit, picnic shelter and a tiny building. The camp is up a steep 200ft dirt driveway, so 4x4 or all-wheel drive may be necessary, especially if it is rainy. There is parking down below. It's totally private. The star gazing can be amazing, and the birds and wildlife are abundant, especially since the Olympic Mtns and Parks are right here. I'm working on better R/V parking and turn arounds, but it's still not ideal for long/low rigs. The camp is primitive but has a tiny building which gives shelter when needed. The camp is still setup for one group at a time so if like a lotta privacy Rutabaga Ridge is it, you can close the gate behind you and not see anyone for days.

The camp is up a steep 200ft dirt driveway, so 4x4 or all-wheel drive may be necessary, especially if it is rainy. There is parking down below. It's totally private. The star gazing can be amazing, and the birds and wildlife are abundant, especially since the Olympic Mtns and Parks are right here. I'm working on better R/V parking and turn arounds, but it's still not ideal for long/low rigs. The camp is primitive but has a tiny building which gives shelter when needed. The camp is still setup for one group at a time so if like a lotta privacy Rutabaga Ridge is it, you can close the gate behind you and not see anyone for days.

If you are looking for a large group camping site - look no further! We have 10 people and 2 dogs with plenty of room and an awesome space to enjoy over the 4th of July Weekend! The two structures are awesome for group cooking as well as hiding from the classic Washington Rain. We will definitely be returning to enjoy the beautiful Olympic Peninsula in the future!

Beautiful spot. Private and a great place for a group. We went with just our little family and 2 dogs and we all had a blast. There is a little slope so setting multiple tents might be a bit more difficult. But overall we enjoyed our stay. 8 min away from Quilcene Tidelands for clamming. Unfortunately we came on a weekend where it was closed, but we do not mind coming back again!

Tent camping with my group of 6 was great at Brian’s spot. The land was a bit uneven so it was hard to find a flat spot for the tent but not a huge deal. The shelters were great for food prep and card games. Outhouse wasn’t too bad. Local fishing and hiking was a plus.

I had a great experience here. It’s a big space and very lovely. Did some trail walking and thoroughly enjoyed my fire under the stars. The old “Danger Ranger” centerpiece was great.

I loved camping here. We easily fit 5 tents and 5 cars. The shelters made for a perfect escape from the rain at night while playing games and in the morning while drinking coffee. The kitchen shelter (which we called chow hall all weekend) is well designed with a space for a camping stove and a bookshelf right outside. Brian was also the ideal host: he was attentive when you needed him, and provided water for the weekend. It was a great place for 11 humans and three dogs.

Had a lovely time with friends. Stargazing was excellent the first night with the milkyway just visible. Animals abound: deer, chicken, and horses in the area and elk, snakes, and salmon in the nearby parks. Little shed is a great spot for games and late night chats. The main area has a covered spot for cooking. Plenty of spots to place a tent not all are level but mostly inclined to one direction with little microterrain. Bathroom was an appreciated amenity.

This was our second time camping at Rutabaga Ridge and it was just as much fun as our first trip. The campsite is so spacious with plenty to explore and it’s close to so many amazing activities on the peninsula. Thanks, Brian!

Rutabaga Ridge was easy to find with the directions provided. It’s a beautiful, secluded spot that feels completely removed from civilization — perfect for relaxing and unwinding. The property is very well kept, with a safe campfire spot, a clean outhouse, and well-marked trails to explore. We loved hearing the birds and being surrounded by gorgeous trees the whole time. A peaceful place to disconnect and enjoy nature! There are a couple of shelters to use as well.

Over priced for what you get. Very primitive. $500 for 8 people four adults and four kids. Everything was very private. Able to let the dogs run and play without having to worry about other people. Trails were not marked or labeled. Little cabin was fun to play in. We thought it would be a great place to store food and supplies. Lots of rodents. Rodent droppings all over everything. Keep everything packed up and secure. After we removed food still had lots of rodent activity. I wouldn’t recommend staying in the cabin unless you don’t mind extra visitors. Recommend getting some kind of curtains for the pit toilet. It’s a little awkward making eye contact with friends by the fire pit when you are doing your business. Also would have saw dust to sprinkle after your #2 to help with smells. Disappointed when we ran out of water we were sent to a community center to fill. Thought it would have been something the host would take care of. Also for the price I would have had trash pick up. Host has chicken maybe a bucket to put food waste for chickens. Leveling out the terrain near the fire pit is a must. No level spaces to put a chair. Made us all very nervous with kids falling into the fire. The property has a lot of potential. Lots of room for improvement.

Camping with our family and two lab

This spot was great for our family of 7 plus two dogs. We appreciated the outhouse toilet, the shelter where we cooked and prepared our food, the potable water jug that Brian filled for us, and the little cabin with tables and seats where we ate and played board games as a family. Brian gave us easy to follow directions. I would recommend this spot to all our family and friends and we would definitely camp here again. Close to the river and ocean.

We had an amazing time camping at Rutabaga Ridge! The campsite was beautiful with plenty of space for multiple tents if needed, a few little walking trials, creek and two shelters. The old truck was a major hit with our toddler. Brian even messaged to check in when he saw we might be expecting rain. We will definitely be back!

This is a great spot for a group! The shelters and tables were useful prepping food and for hanging out. It felt private and the right balance of shade and grass. Would camp here again.

Super awesome stay! If you want to be in nature, admire the stars, and have a peaceful experience I highly recommend. Brian was awesome and responded to my many messages with kindness and patience 😅 probably one of my favorite camping experiences. Even the toilet was enjoyable. We had a great time on the property! The enclosed area was a lifesaver in the rain. It was so peaceful and we woke to bird song every morning. It is hard to find the correct road to the site so definitely use the written directions provided with the site info! I would love to make it back out sometime in the future.

Great space to camp with a group and dogs! Very private, with nice little trails to explore. The covered areas were perfect for cooking and gathering while it rained. The eggs were delicious and the provided firewood was great! It can be tricky to find flat spots for multiple tents, but other than that it was a great space.

Perfect fall weekend. Brian’s place is a peaceful and private forest. He is a wonderful host who reached out to us by text is to make sure we arrived safely and had everything we needed. This property is close to an Olympic National Park entrance. Quilcene Village Store is a little gem of a market within walking distance.

We had a great time on Labor Day weekend at Brian’s land. Our dogs absolutely Loved It!!! They were able to run around off leash the entire time. We had the property all to ourselves and enjoyed the privacy. The only visitor was a deer that we seen out of our tent window in the morning. If your looking for a get away from the city life and leashing up your dogs constantly than it is a perfect spot to go and enjoy. We will try to make it back next summer.

Great place for a large group to gather! We celebrated a birthday here with a group of 14 and it was lovely! Plus sides were having the two small shelters for when it rained a bit. We enjoyed falls view canyon walk (great refreshing swimming in the river) and Mt. Walker for a longer hike! There’s a very convenient general store a few minutes away for restocking any camping needs! Brian was very responsive and helpful and refilled water for us!

A nice private camp ground. Our two dogs got to stay off leash without worry. We saw owls. The outhouse worked just fine for the 6 of us. Plenty of space to spread out and talk loudly and we didn't stress about the dogs barking occasionally.

The site was lovely, extremely spacious, and private with plenty of accommodations (i.e. the shed served as an adequate storage area and refuge from mosquitoes and the provided tables and covered area saved a lot of time when setting up for cooking). Getting to the site was easy thanks to the provided directions; however, the site sits atop a steep hill so ensure your vehicle is capable.

Brian has a beautiful space with plenty of room for tents and nice shelters for cooking and hanging out. If you’re looking for a well maintained campground without noisy neighboring campers, this is the space! It also is very well located, so whether you want to hike, swim, paddleboard, or hunt oysters, you don’t have to drive far.
