I have been coming to Packwood every summer since the 90's and as it was well before Hipcamp, would camp in campgrounds or stay in local motels. I finally decided buying a piece of property would make sense. I had driven by this property several times over the years, but didn't set foot on it until after I had purchased it. I only removed older dead/dying trees , then planted new trees and bushes in hopes of keeping the property in a more natural state. The trail through the property on the river side was made by Elk passing through, which is why that area remains un-fenced. The property is located in a High Valley Country Club neighborhood and only a few miles from the town of Packwood. Learn more about this land: Bring your trailer, camper or motor home (and a tent if you like) then relax and enjoy a park like setting with hookups - water, power (50, 30 and 20 amp service) and Wi-Fi. NO TENT CAMPING ONLY. There is NOT a bathroom on the property. Tents must be in conjunction with an RV that has a indoor toilet/shower (no outdoor showering). Wi-Fi on the property makes staying connected easy. There is fire pit (washer drum) and free chopped wood for campfires. There is a park style charcoal BBQ grill for guest use (guests will need to supply their own charcoal). Located in a High Valley Country Club (HVCC) neighborhood, the property is one lot from Cowlitz river access. Swimming (Memorial Day through Labor Day) and golf are close by at the HVCC, which is about 1.5 miles away from the property. The property is close to Packwood (3.5 mi) where you will find groceries, restaurants, pizza, and The Goat (Mountain Goat Coffee Company). There are also two micro breweries, Packwood Brewing Co. and Longmire Springs and food trucks near both. Packwood (Skate Creek) State Park in only 2 miles from the property. Enjoy boating, swimming and fishing. During the winter months, White Pass ski area and snowmobile parks Sno-Park Skate Creek and Sno-Park Orr Creek are in the area. Here you will find the peaceful quiet of being "away from it all", yet in reality you are only a little over a mile from the local grocery store, restaurants, and gas stations along Hwy 12 in Randle. Randle is a gateway to many other outdoor areas and activities including Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, and Mt. St. Helens. We have a private entry from the highway, so you can feel safe leaving your camp set up while you take day excursions. We have sites scattered across 70 acres. Your perfect camping site may be found in the fields, in the shade of the trees, by the river, in view of Mt. Adams, or a combination of these. You can be assured plenty of space for privacy and quiet, even if other campers are in the vicinity. We currently host newly developed, private river access, camp areas on the upper Cowlitz River. Many of the sites may have a lot of dirt rather than grass. This dirt turns to dust in dry weather. We are hoping to have most of them seeded with grass, but we will see how that goes (grows). This has been a cattle grazing pasture for the past 100 years. It is also flood plain, so we get a fresh covering of river silt almost every year. This also turns to a fine powdery dust in dry weather. However, many say that the river access, the surrounding beauty, and the privacy, far outweigh the inconvenience of any dust. The property has a TWO MILE perimeter.....there is plenty of room! We have 25 site locations strategically spread across this large acreage, each with its own "personality" and benefits. All campers have the ability to access the river at any of the four beaches. One of the most common comments from our campers is that they cannot believe how much space is between campsites. This year, almost all of the sites have a view of the river. We make an effort to maintain site privacy and a peaceful atmosphere. We value being in the outdoors, with the feeling of "getting away", without having the rules, restrictions, and the crowded conditions found in typical campground areas.... we figure you do too. We just ask that you respect other campers, especially concerning campsite noise levels at night. Campers can "float the loop" which consists of launching on the upriver side of the peninsula, floating/kayaking around to the downriver side, getting out and walking across the field to launch again. PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION FOR EACH SITE to find out what type of vehicle it can handle. We have pictures for many, but we will be working through the winter and spring to develop others. The only Hipcamp site location pinpoint will be for the access road at the highway. Please look at the picture of our site map to see where your site is located. We have to do this because people have not been reading the directions given, and our neighbors have given negative feedback about strangers driving into their yards. Most areas can be accessed with 2wd vehicles, although certain areas may be a little rough for something with low clearance. Some sites are more friendly to larger trailers than others. Please read the descriptions and ask questions if you are unsure. We have four separate riverbars, some with sandy beach areas. There is plenty of river space for all. Ask us about river floating and kayak options. Let us know if you have a special group event. We are very flexible and can help you create the situation that would suit your group the best. Pets are welcome, but be aware that coyotes, bobcat, and cougar have been sited in the valley. There are also eagles and hawks to be aware of for smaller animals. Enjoy views of Butter Peak from the fire pit. We are located just 15 minutes from the Ohanapecosh entrance to Mt. Rainier, 25 minutes from White Pass Ski Area, or 3 minutes from the lovely Skate Creek Skate Park 2 mile loop trail. You will have neighbors, but it is quiet and peaceful, aside from the occasional golf cart drive-by. Come park with us for a day, or a week!

Deep lake is four miles from our house as well as Kanaskit State Park with a river. Mt Rainier is about 45 minutes away. Mt Peak, 1000 ft hike, is 4 miles toward Enumclaw from us. Cleaned after each persons use due to Covid 19 and just because we are really clean hosts. Campsite faces a Christmas Tree Farm and cows in a field. Blueberry Farm across the street. Traffic noise as Veazie Cumberland is a main two lane road 100 feet from camp. Two parks within four miles. Four miles from the town of Enumclaw. We have a 3 or 8 person tent for rent, a double cot or air mattress, sleeping bags if needed as well all at reasonable rental prices.

There is a tree farm across the street from the campsite and a blueberry farm across Veazie. Picking time for blueberries is end of July into August. Deep lake is four miles from our house as well as Kanaskit State Park with a river. Mt Rainier is about 45 minutes away. Mt Peak, 1000 ft hike, is 4 miles toward Enumclaw from us. Cleaned after each persons use due to Covid 19 and just because we are really clean hosts. Campsite faces a Christmas Tree Farm and cows in a field. Blueberry Farm across the street. Traffic noise as Veazie Cumberland is a main two lane road 100 feet from camp. Two parks within four miles. Four miles from the town of Enumclaw. We have a 3 or 8 person tent for rent, a double cot or air mattress, sleeping bags if needed as well all at reasonable rental prices.

We offer some of the most beautiful scenery in western Washington. Here you will find the peaceful quiet of being "away from it all", yet in reality you are only a little over a mile from the local grocery store, restaurants, and gas stations along Hwy 12 in Randle. Randle is a gateway to many other outdoor areas and activities including Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, and Mt. St. Helens. We have a private entry from the highway, so you can feel safe leaving your camp set up while you take day excursions. We have sites scattered across 70 acres. Your perfect camping site may be found in the fields, in the shade of the trees, by the river, in view of Mt. Adams, or a combination of these. You can be assured plenty of space for privacy and quiet, even if other campers are in the vicinity. We currently host newly developed, private river access, camp areas on the upper Cowlitz River. Many of the sites may have a lot of dirt rather than grass. This dirt turns to dust in dry weather. We are hoping to have most of them seeded with grass, but we will see how that goes (grows). This has been a cattle grazing pasture for the past 100 years. It is also flood plain, so we get a fresh covering of river silt almost every year. This also turns to a fine powdery dust in dry weather. However, many say that the river access, the surrounding beauty, and the privacy, far outweigh the inconvenience of any dust. The property has a TWO MILE perimeter.....there is plenty of room! We have 25 site locations strategically spread across this large acreage, each with its own "personality" and benefits. All campers have the ability to access the river at any of the four beaches. One of the most common comments from our campers is that they cannot believe how much space is between campsites. This year, almost all of the sites have a view of the river. We make an effort to maintain site privacy and a peaceful atmosphere. We value being in the outdoors, with the feeling of "getting away", without having the rules, restrictions, and the crowded conditions found in typical campground areas.... we figure you do too. We just ask that you respect other campers, especially concerning campsite noise levels at night. Campers can "float the loop" which consists of launching on the upriver side of the peninsula, floating/kayaking around to the downriver side, getting out and walking across the field to launch again. PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION FOR EACH SITE to find out what type of vehicle it can handle. We have pictures for many, but we will be working through the winter and spring to develop others. The only Hipcamp site location pinpoint will be for the access road at the highway. Please look at the picture of our site map to see where your site is located. We have to do this because people have not been reading the directions given, and our neighbors have given negative feedback about strangers driving into their yards. New pics will be added as we get them. Please feel free to ask questions about any site. Most areas can be accessed with 2wd vehicles, although certain areas may be a little rough for something with low clearance. Some sites are more friendly to larger trailers than others. Please read the descriptions and ask questions if you are unsure. We have four separate riverbars, some with sandy beach areas. There is plenty of river space for all. Ask us about river floating and kayak options. Let us know if you have a special group event. We are very flexible and can help you create the situation that would suit your group the best. Pets are welcome, but be aware that coyotes, bobcat, and cougar have been sited in the valley. There are also eagles and hawks to be aware of for smaller animals. I have been coming to Packwood every summer since the 90's and as it was well before Hipcamp, would camp in campgrounds or stay in local motels. I finally decided buying a piece of property would make sense. I had driven by this property several times over the years, but didn't set foot on it until after I had purchased it. I only removed older dead/dying trees , then planted new trees and bushes in hopes of keeping the property in a more natural state. The trail through the property on the river side was made by Elk passing through, which is why that area remains un-fenced. The property is located in a High Valley Country Club neighborhood and only a few miles from the town of Packwood. Learn more about this land: Bring your trailer, camper or motor home (and a tent if you like) then relax and enjoy a park like setting with hookups - water, power (50, 30 and 20 amp service) and Wi-Fi. NO TENT CAMPING ONLY. There is NOT a bathroom on the property. Tents must be in conjunction with an RV that has a indoor toilet/shower (no outdoor showering). Wi-Fi on the property makes staying connected easy. There is fire pit (washer drum) and free chopped wood for campfires. There is a park style charcoal BBQ grill for guest use (guests will need to supply their own charcoal). Located in a High Valley Country Club (HVCC) neighborhood, the property is one lot from Cowlitz river access. Swimming (Memorial Day through Labor Day) and golf are close by at the HVCC, which is about 1.5 miles away from the property. The property is close to Packwood (3.5 mi) where you will find groceries, restaurants, pizza, and The Goat (Mountain Goat Coffee Company). There are also two micro breweries, Packwood Brewing Co. and Longmire Springs and food trucks near both. Packwood (Skate Creek) State Park in only 2 miles from the property. There are hiking trails and public access to the Cowlitz River. Visit skatecreekpark dot org for more information. Lakes Scanewa, Riffe and Rimrock are all an easy drive from Packwood. Enjoy boating, swimming and fishing. During the winter months, White Pass ski area and snowmobile parks Sno-Park Skate Creek and Sno-Park Orr Creek are in the area. For something different, visit the Oak Creek Wildlife Area late November through March to watch elk feed by the hundreds. This is a NO smoking property.

Overview

You’ll know Mount Rainier National Park when you see it—the hulking volcano rises more than 14,000 feet above sea level, dominating the western Washington horizon for miles around. Glaciers cascade down the slopes, meeting deep green forests. The best part? This Northwest’s crown jewel sits just 65 miles from Seattle, making its summit the goal of many mountaineers and its location perfect for an easy weekend trip. Here you’ll find 473 camping sites scattered across three of the four quadrants of the park, including Cougar Rock in the southwest, Ohanapecosh in the southeast, and White River, in the northeast. In addition, 13 tent sites sit at the walk-in Mowich Lake campground to the northwest. Beyond that, numerous backcountry sites are scattered on and around the mountain.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Though RVs are allowed to park at Cougar Rock, Ohanapecosh, and White River campgrounds, they have no electrical, water, or grey water hookups.
Each campsite is limited to a maximum of two vehicles, two tents, and/or six campers. Most campsites are big enough for only one tent and up to four people.
Campsites at Cougar Rock, Ohanapecosh, and White River campgrounds can all be booked in advance online, with availability opening on a six-month rolling basis. The sites at Mowich Lake are available only on a first-come, first-served basis

When to go

Mount Rainier National Park is open year-round, though heavy winter snow typically closes all but the Nisqually Entrance. At this time, roads at higher elevations may be closed or require snow chains or winter tires to access. July and August are busy times, when popular parking lots and entrances come with long waits. Aim for a mid-week visit, or go during the late spring or early fall to beat the crowds.

Know before you go

The visitor center at the Longmire Museum is open year-round, while the Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise closes on winter weekdays. The Ohanapecosh Visitor Center and Sunrise Visitor Center are open in summer.
When making a summer visit, try to arrive early (before 10am) or later in the day (after 2:30pm) to avoid peak crowds and wait times.
Concessions are sold at Longmire, Paradise, and Sunrise. You can also stock up in the nearby towns of Ashford and Packwood.
Cell service is unreliable in Mount Rainier National Park, but there is wifi in the Jackson Visitor Center at Paradise.
