This listing is located on The Riverbend Preserve, a private nature park, so there is no hunting, fishing, or foraging. Please do not discharge any firearms during your stay.
The forest to the west of the Preserve is Washington State land, and on occasion locals go up into the hills to target shoot. In the unlikely event that this happens during your stay, don't be alarmed; the British are *not* coming.
This land is a nature preserve with lots of wildlife. You're welcome to bring your pet, but keep small animals close to you as there are coyotes and predatory birds in abundance. Black bears and mountain lions also live in the hills, so please always be cautious while hiking and exploring.
If you use AT-T, Verizon, T-Mobile, US Cellular, or most major carriers you can expect good cell service. Single use or small cellular carriers may have intermittent signal or no signal at all after you leave the City of Chehalis behind.

About the hosts: Camas and her father, Randy, co-host this property. One or both will be onsite at all times should any issue arise. About the site:
This 17-foot 2005 Jay Feather Ultra Lite trailer is clean and cozy - perfect for one or two people. A third person is welcome, but it will likely be a little cramped. The double bed has a memory foam mattress and is made-up with quality sheets. Towels are provided at no extra cost.
The kitchen has a 3 burner propane stove and oven, a small fridge, a microwave, and sink. Coffee, tea, tea kettle, French Press, creamer, and sugar are provided, as well as a few dishes, a pot and pan, and utensils.
The spring water is sourced directly from our property and filtered, so you can enjoy it from the tap! In my opinion, it's some of the best water around - feel free to fill up before you depart.
The site is set back from WA-State Route 106, but only by about 20 yards. There is traffic noise during the day, but it's not too bad, and it is typically pretty quiet at night. Hopefully you enjoy the sounds of wildlife ~ birds, lapping waves, and even a creek add to the experience.
A panoramic view of the estuary is one of the best parts of this property. It's dreamy, really. With the tide changing every 6 hours, you just can't get bored. You may fall asleep to tide flats and wake up to what feels like a lake.
If you like being on or in the water - bring some kayaks, surf or paddle boards, and some high quality water shoes (never go barefoot!). You will have access to 400 feet of private beach and tide flats. Kayaking is tide dependent - recommendations for paddle times will be in the binder.
(Currently closed to harvesting 6/23) If you have your shellfish license, feel free to harvest a few oysters or clams (depending on DOH recommendations) . Be aware - it is a rustic beach, and it is across the highway, so watch for traffic and watch your step on the beach.
Our house is within sight of the trailer, but you have to make an effort to see it. From our house, we can only see the parking spot, and due to shrubbery & a shed, we can't hear talking voices, so it is pretty private. We do have 2 very friendly, small dogs who will undoubtedly alert us to your arrival, but they stay on our deck and quiet down right away.
A welcome binder and maps will help you get an idea of the area. For a tiny town, Union has a LOT to offer - there are several dining choices within a few miles. Union was even listed in the top 10 "Prettiest Towns in America" in Forbes Magazine in 2009!

We are located on a very private property (the only houses you will see are across the inlet) surrounded by nature but only about 10 minutes from downtown Olympia and 5 minutes from I-5 and Lacey.
The property is situated on the very south end of Henderson Inlet. We are on the tide flats so twice a day (at high tide) we have the opportunity to explore on the water in canoes and kayaks. The property is spread over 16 acres and is comprised of two large fields (one in front of our home and the other is a smaller meadow off to the side (hidden meadow) and forest land. There is tons of space for playing, exploring and tiring out your kids and pups!
Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi.
About the campground:
The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the porta potty, shower and sink. There is also a supply closet that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hot tub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins.
There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There are also fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊
The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offer great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails!

Welcome to The Plank and Pillow on Pirate Cove, a quirky, pirate-themed lakeside cabin tucked along the quiet shores of Lake St. Clair, just outside Olympia, WA. Whether you’re a landlubber or seasoned adventurer, this offbeat hideaway is the perfect place to unplug and unwind.
Our cozy cabin sleeps up to 6 guests and includes:
• 1 main bedroom
• 1 bunk room (perfect for little pirates!)
• A hide-a-bed couch in the living area
You’ll have a fully equipped kitchen, an outdoor grill, ceiling fans, portable heaters, and a wood stove that is seasonally available. The cabin has grid electricity, running water, and a weekly serviced port-a-potty. There’s also a refreshing outdoor shower for rinsing off after lake swims or treasure hunts.
We’re proud to be a low-impact, no single-use plastic property. You’ll find reusable aluminum cups and a large supply of fresh drinking water to refill your personal bottles—because pirates protect their waters, too.
Enjoy direct lake access for kayaking, swimming, fishing, or stargazing from the dock. Bring your pup along—well behaved pets are welcome!

Bathe yourself in luxury and the PNW woods in this stunning Forest River Sierra with master bedroom with king bed overlooking the private fire pit within a stand of mature cedars and Douglas firs. Partially secluded, nestled in the backwoods of old-growth forest. Close to I-5 and restaurants, but great to feel surrounded in nature. Hot showers, grill, and outdoor food prep area. Private fire pit and enjoy walk paths through the woods.
Over 6,500 Douglas firs with meandering walking trails, a back woods of towering grand firs, cedars and hemlocks, we spend our days creating intimate places for self-reflection and celebration with someone special.
This luxury trailer sleeps 6 with a bedroom loft upstairs with two beds, and a pull out couch by the fireplace in the living room. There are two kid cabins nearby in the woods for a fun kid/teen adventure. Pets are allowed under 25 lbs, no more than two animals at a time.

Cute little wood cabin on a large, quiet lot, with covered porch looking out towards the water near the end of Cole's Point. Gravity fed fresh water at the sink on the porch. Inside, includes couch, queen bed, twin bed, fridge with chilled water, freezer, microwave. Nicely heated in winter and stays cool in summer. Sitting in comfy camp chairs on the covered porch can be magical during a spring rain. Outhouse with nightlight and composting toilet. Firepit with kindling and firewood in winter. (Summer fires are not allowed.) Short walk to the beach to the north. Short walk south to the edge of the Oro Bay as well. Kayaks can be rented on island. (Not related to the host.) Multiple hikes / walks within Jacob's Point, Andy's Marine Park, and 7 other parks on island. One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. Weekend Trip to Coffee Creek Community & Gardens
My partner and I had a wonderful stay here! Absolutely gorgeous property. Host was very communicative and provided great directions, even recommended local spots to check out during our visit. The space was insanely stocked I was so surprised! Everything down to a can opener (came in clutch for dinner lol). Clean space, super quiet and private which is so surprising considering how close downtown is. My partner and I are both POC and get nervous staying in rural areas, but this space was so friendly and welcoming that we didn’t even feel the need to lock the door once during our stay. Lots of awesome wildlife around too! If you’re looking for a lovely getaway with easy access to town, 11/10 recommend this space. Thank you Mokey!!

This place is pure magic. We started our summer with a trip and my kid begged to go back for our last trip of the summer. Gary thinks of everything. You really can just bring food and a sleeping bag and you will want for nothing. It is peaceful and whimsical. Gary is friendly and respectful of your space and by the end you can’t help but feel like family. Thank you Gary for making a place my kids feel safe, free and curious!

Weekend Trip to Fischer's Place on the Estuary
My stay was perfect and just what I needed. The camper was clean, well-equipped, comfy and cosy. The views were amazing, complete with seals, birds galore, and an amazing sunset. I especially enjoyed taking my coffee down to the water in the morning and just taking this paradise in. I put my kayak in down the street in Union and enjoyed a lovely paddle to the estuary and back. Camas was so kind to leave a tide schedule for me!
I'm a light sleeper and have pretty strong noise aversion (misophonia) and the car noise wasn't a big deal for me. It gets a lot lighter at night, but I wear sleep headphones, regardless. It will start up again pretty early in the morning, but it won't stop me from staying here again.
The extras waiting for me (flowers, berries, small snacks) made me feel extra welcome, too! Camas was extremely attentive through app messaging, so nice, and completely respected my privacy.
This area just has everything and I recommend it all, including the 30 minute drive to Hama Hama Oyster Farm & Saloon.
I would (and very likely will) stay with Camas and family again in a heartbeat!

Weekend Trip to Elfendahl Forest
This place is magical—an off-the-grid wonderland filled with creativity, imagination, and so much attention to detail. The owner has clearly poured a tremendous amount of thought and personality into every corner of the property, and it makes the whole place feel incredibly special.
The communal spaces are welcoming, playful, and fun for all ages. There’s a large, well-stocked kitchen, beautifully designed and spotless facilities (Louis 1 & 2 and the shower), and gorgeous mosaic work and craftsman-style woodwork throughout the property.
And then there are all the fun little surprises: ax throwing, hammocks, a climbing net, a garden, punk bunnies, chickens, flowers, statuary gardens, gnomes, and so many other whimsical details to discover. There’s something around every corner.
The hosts have thought of just about everything you could possibly need. And while the camp is wonderfully off the beaten track, there’s plenty to explore—and even more space to simply relax and enjoy being there. Honestly, we found ourselves not wanting to leave!
If you do venture out, Belfair State Park is only about 15 minutes away and is a great place to explore, picnic, and swim. The warm saltwater and sandy beach made for a perfect outing.
Overall, this was such a fun, imaginative, and surprisingly relaxing stay. The campsite and host were absolutely incredible, and the care and creativity that went into creating this little wonderland really made the experience unforgettable.

1 night at Hidden Meadow Retreat
We had a wonderful stay at Jake and Molly’s Stargazer tent. It was clean, comfortable, and we loved falling asleep while looking at the sky. They thought of everything, with a charging station, power banks, showers, a great hand washing station. Their property is stunning, right by the water. We were just staying the night but could have easily stayed longer if we weren’t rushing to get home.

This site was perfect for our whole family. Our kids are 7 and 4 years old and were able to manage the stairs up to the bathroom, loved the bunk room and all the pirate fun, and really enjoyed the lake. Our dog enjoyed the freedom the leash pulley system through the property allowed him. And my husband and I got the right amount of rest, peace, and play. We weren’t quite ready for a full camping trip and this cabin had enough indoor amenities to make the experience painless (comfy beds, clean and functional indoor kitchen, and tv for wind down time) and enough campsite amenities (picnic table, lake recreation equipment, outdoor shower) to make it feel like we were experiencing the best of the outdoors without the sometimes frustrating challenges of camping with young kids.
Kevin has also incorporated a really fun pirate theme into the cove and it made the whole stay even more memorable. Our kids have already made us promise to come back next summer and we look forward to it!

Was a beautiful spot to stay for a few days. The stargazer tent was comfortable and warm and the bed was very cozy. Only downside is a lack of privacy at the sites . We got lucky tho with only 1 other camper. Trees are planted so that will be good in the future. The deck site for a trailer was nicely laid out. Would choose that option for next time. Our dogs loved having so much space to roam.

We had a wonderful time in the Dream Dome. The dome itself had a very comfortable bed with nice bedding. Everything was designed intentionally, very comfortable and private space. The shared kitchen was also very nice, loved the record player and collection. Outdoor shower was also excellent. The waterfront is absolutely gorgeous and so peaceful. I borrowed the provided a kayak and travelled all around, so beautiful. The inslet is filled with oysters and I saw several seal. In mid August the water was perfect for swimming. Really a magical place, thank you for letting us stay. We went on day trips to Olympic National Park and Olympia, both extremely convenient to here.

This place was magic. So unbelievably quiet (I actually turned off the lock feedback noise on my car because I felt like I was disturbing the peace). The outdoor shower was dreamy, the studio space itself was clean and cozy. I followed the host’s recommendations for a hike a short drive away that took me down to the water, which was lovely. Great stay overall, will be back!

Thank you for such a fun experience! The best part was all of the water toys we were able to use! Such a quiet and peaceful location. It’s our first time using hip camp and hopefully a bathroom is installed so we can return! That was the only issue the porter potty location. Other than that we enjoyed every bit of the cabin we even brought our projector so we had a movie night outside under the stars cabin is fully stocked Kevin literally thought of everything!

We loved camping on Gary's property. Our 2 year old enjoyed the play ground, net, playing with the dogs and bunnies, and running around. This was a perfect spot for a family of 4 (2 adults, newborn and toddler). The kitchen was well stocked with supplies, clean bathroom, and shower had heated water. We plan to come back again this summer and highly recommend it to other families.

Weekend Trip to Neighborwood: An Eco Retreat
We really enjoyed our stay. It was so quiet and relaxing at night. We cooked some great meals on the gas burning stove. Explored the state park near by and went paddle boarding. Tyler was attentive to any issues we had which was only needing help with the water. Definitely recommend.

Great location and wonderful hosts. Perfect launching off site for Mt Rainier. And a wonderful place to return to relax. We had so much fun on the lake.
Would love to see an indoor restroom, or one that didn't require a hike up a bunch of stairs and a hill to access (for my mom), but otherwise, truly a perfect stay!
