2 nights at North Eagle Haven @ Mount Baker

The place and views were amazing. Very nice and calm off a road with barely any traffic and the river across it. The parking area was leveled and easy to park, Power and water hook ups. We had our camper van and didn't get to use the small cabin bit it was so cozy in there. Probably my favorite was the sauna wood cabin with burning fire. Sooo relaxing. Great hiking areas just off the property and withing a 10 minute drive. As for our host- Heather has got to be one of the coolest people and most active people we've ever met. Very helpful and friendly, tentative to your needs. Nice little touches to boost your experience you'll get to enjoy when staying there. Again, Thank you Heather!!!

Weekend Trip to Pacific Rim Institute

Exactly as listed, cute and well cared-for. The cots had thin inflatables to help cut the cold, so we didn't need to use ours. Our other friends camped in a nearby field this late March weekend and their tents were flattened by gusts all night long. We slept soundly, buffeted from the wind in our cute little hut. The dog-friendly aspect was what initially sold us, and we'd definitely be back to this darling spot when in the area.

Ericks property was beautiful and peaceful. We cooked three great meals in the yurt and enjoyed the slow transition to night time by gas lantern. Erick was a great host and provided delicious eggs from his hens.

Nichelle was excellent at communicating with us before and during our stay. We parked our teardrop camper at spot #4 and enjoyed the spectacular views. We were fortunate to be the only campers here this weekend. It was quiet and lovely.

Stayed here 4 days to explore Whidbey Island with my dog. Wonderful stay - basic cabin with 2 cots. I'm a cold sleeper and my 30° degree sleeping bag + wool blanket was toasty! Cots + sleeping mats provided were comfy, I slept well. Saw 5 eagles soaring in the sky from the cabin window! 10/10 recommend, would like to stay here in the summer

Lovely spot surrounded by whispering trees. Quiet and peaceful. Nichelle was attentive, responsive and friendly. I’ll take her up on the offer of fresh eggs next time I stay.

1 night at Pacific Rim Institute

This was such a cool property to stay on. Sam (one of the interns) gave me a tour of the place and made sure I had everything i needed. The cabin was less rustic than i had anticipated and was even furnished. If youre visiting in winter like I was definitely make sure you have enough gear with you to stay warm. The campsite had a firepit and wood provided.

2 nights at Camp Keyser Forest Camp

My parter, dog, and I had a wonderful time at the micro cabin! There was a good amount of snow on the ground and the cabin is not insulated, but we were able to keep plenty warm and dry using the wood stove. The gas lamp was surprisingly bright, and the gas stovetop also worked great. The bed was super comfortable, also. Steve was a very responsive host and also respected our privacy. The owner’s house can be seen from the cabin, but the surrounding area is quiet and peaceful. I feel like this cabin may be more popular in the warmer months, but it’s also sooo charming in the snow.

2 nights at Hideaway Glamping

We really enjoyed our stay at the yurt. It was very cozy and the perfect size for two people. Felt secluded while still being very close to attractions in Bellingham. Joshua provided helpful instructions prior to our arrival, and was very responsive when we had an issue with the propane heater during our stay. (if planning to stay here in the winter, know that the yurt will still be quite cold even with the heater, so come prepared with extra layers and blankets!)

We arrived after 11pm and Reg still promptly greeted us and gave an informed, helpful tour. He's clearly put SO much work into this whole place, and I'm so bummed we had no time to properly enjoy it!! Our room was cozy, quiet, warm, and only an hour away from Mt Baker. Highly recommend!!

Camp Keyser is a wooded 5 acre parcel in the mountains, near mountain loop highway - in the center of everything wonderful in the northern cascade mountains. We have one private cabin and 6 campsites. Tent campers will enjoy the lush landscape of a mature forest with sites along the (seasonal) Thirsty Creek. Nearby (3 minute walk), users can contemplate views of Whitehorse Mountain, Jumbo Mountain, Glacier Peak, and Whitechuck Mountain. This part of the Stillaguamish valley and the adjacent Mountain Loop Highway is known for a great selection of hiking trails, at all skill levels. It is perfect hub for all of your outdoor interests. The trailhead for the summit of Whitehorse Mountain is just a mile away, as is Old Mine Road trail (45 minute hike ending in 2 waterfalls). A 15-20 minute walk takes campers to a swimming hole in the cool Stillaguamish river for a dip or a paddle. Even closer is Whitehorse Regional Trail (great for biking, walking and horseback riding) built on the bed of the former BNSF railroad through the North Stillaguamish River Valley, spanning over 27 miles. The nearly level trail meanders through the valley, rewarding visitors with picturesque, landscape views of forests, farmland, streams and rivers, and mountain vistas. Sites have a generous fire pit and access to a Porta-Potty. For bathing I recommend cool dip in the Stillaguamish River. In season there is also fishing, snowshoeing, concerts at the blue grass festival grounds, a rodeo, and so much more.

Pacific Rim Institute

This land has passed through many families but was first "managed" by Salish Indians who burned the prairie and harvested native plants for food, medicine, clothing, charms and more for 10,000 years. When European settlers arrived in the 1850s, burning the prairie all but ceased and that, along with the introduction of many new exotic species of animals, crop plants and weeds, began the degradation of the landscape. Over time our site was used to graze sheep and then raise pheasants (from 1944-1999). It was slated for housing development but several citizens rose up and prevented that from happening. Now the Pacific Rim Institute, a private nonprofit organization is the steward of this precious jewel of central Whidbey and the Pacific Northwest. We have a five-acre remnant prairie with over 80 species of native plants - critical to the restoration of degraded lands throughout the Salish Sea region. We have over two miles of walking trails for you. They traverse our prairie, savannas and forests. The land is full of color when the native wildflowers bloom from early spring through early autumn. We have a Native Plant Center where we grow up to 50 species of rare native plants. Ask us for a tour.

Enjoy simplicity in comfortable luxury! We are dog friendly, and we require all guests to clean up after their dogs. There are plastic bags provided for animal waste disposal when dogs are in the backyard and on neighborhood walks. Cleaning up after pets includes excess pet hair, especially on furniture. Please use the waterproof pet blanket provided for the sofa and bed. Guests bring the animal onto the property at their own risk. The booking guest is liable for any damages that pets cause. (We will have to charge a cleaning fee if your dog leaves behind a mess or causes damage.) We find that most people are cooperative and responsible with their pets. We love traveling with our fur babies, and would like to keep allowing pets in our listings. Thank you for being understanding and working with us to keep our rental available to pets! Rules for dogs: 1. We do NOT have a fenced yard or space. If you have a dog that will wander, we require you to keep your dog on a leash or a lead. 2. Custer is an easy 20-minute drive to Bellingham, 10-15 minutes to 2 coastal beaches (Birch Bay and Semiahmoo), and only 10 minutes to Blaine and the Canadian border. We love to host our friends and show people around our beautiful slice of the PNW🌲 We are a big family, so we designed all of our glamping sites to be kid and pet friendly and big enough to fit families of 2-6. A little luxury and ease for the grownups and a magical nature experience for the kids. Kids are allowed to "just be" here. Cellular reception isn't great but no one seems to notice. Not when they are busy building forts, roasting marshmallows and climbing up tree houses. The intention infused into all of our spaces is a Hygge* (pronounced hoo-gah) vibe. *Hygge is a calm, comfortable time with people you love. The absence of frustrations; often enjoyed with warm drinks, cozy blankets and candlelight or a fire.❤️ County Noise Statement: We love living in rural Whatcom County and we know land owners in our area love it too. In fact, their enthusiasm for the great outdoors is so high that sometimes they can generate sounds that will travel throughout the day. These are likely sounds you are not accustomed to hearing in a traditional neighborhood. Distant noises such as: -county shooting range located a few miles away -tractors -mowers & chainsaws -ATV vehicles -barking dogs -farm animals (goat, horses, crowing roosters) -wild animals (early morning bird song and owls at night) -children laughing -adult voices -train horn Evenings are generally very quiet and peaceful as night falls with the exception of holiday weekends as the enthusiasm for owning property in the country may ramp up ;) We tell you all this in order to be fully transparent about noise potential. If the potential for noise and the nearby shooting range will be a damper on your glamping experience, no worries! We totally get it! Our place is probably not the best fit. If you want to bring your kids to a place where they can build a fort, take a break from their screens and build family memories over a campfire, then you will love it here! You will be on our small farm/homestead that is backed up to the Mount Baker National Forest with undisturbed forest all north all the way to the Canadian border to the north, Baker lake to the north west, and to the North Cascades National park to the North east. The Skagit River flows to the south of us. If you like freezing cold glacier water, we'll provide you with a map where you can walk down to the river to cool off at a safe swimming hole.Guests love staying here "Such a glorious and relaxed stay. The yurt really was a palace, it was so spacious and had many thoughtful amenities. We hiked on the mountain, forded a river and played with Hiland cows, all within walking distance of the yurt. I was worried that it would be cold but we were toasty and were even able to cook full course meals. Terry and Erin were the perfect hosts, responsive and yet non-instrusive. Thank you so much for letting us have this experience!"

We are situated on 9.3 beautiful acres of open field, forest, hiking trails and the lovely Samish River. As of now we have three, large perfectly dedicated sites ready for your time away from home and some outdoor enjoyment. Located just 7 minutes East of the freeway/I-5 off the Bow Hill Road exit you’ll drive up ‘Wildlife Acres Ln’. The name of our road rings true to the scene; bunnies and families of deer are everywhere. Flying near and over head are hawks, eagles, vocal blue jays and all the like.😊 Our trails are awesome. I’d highly recommend good shoes/hiking boots and maybe even your hiking poles or a walking stick for the two steep areas. Your mountain bike would be fun too. Note; the trail down to the river is steep- and worth the venture 💦 Delicious drinking water is available on site. A commercial style stainless steel sink is situated right next to the garden for hand washing and doing dishes. No hot water is available, but you can always heat some on your cook stove. Jess' garden stand located at the beginning of the driveway will have seasonal eggs, berries and veggies for anything you may have forgotten or would like to enjoy for your evening meals or breakfast concoctions. Available right now; Fresh, organically fed, free range and happy duck eggs Rainbow Chard (ask Jess so I can pick fresh, wash and offer upon request) Now…the fun stuff to do out-and-about and outside of ‘Camp Wildlife’ is quite extensive. North 40 Farm Store is 10 minutes down the way located off F&S Grade Road where you can find LOCAL natural grass fed Black Angus beef, pork, milk, eggs, bread and more! Bellingham is just 20 minutes north. Burlington is 15 minutes south. The islands are 40 minutes west. Then there’s Deception Pass, Bow and Edison 15 minutes west; Chuckanut drive is stunningly beautiful, blueberry picking, Samish Bay Cheese, The Bread Farm, Teramar pizza, Whatcom Falls, Mount Baker,Skagit Speedway (you’ll hear some Vroom Vrooms and some fireworks, my camper friends as we are just a couple miles from that kind of fun!) The Skagit Casino for great tacos and live music and the list goes on… A little starter bundle of firewood will be provided for each site and more available for purchase if you won’t be bringing your own and would rather not purchase from a gas station. Doggies are most definitely welcome.😊 We have three kitties, six ducks and a brand new puppy ourselves that must not to be chased. Off-leash doggies are welcome on the walking and hiking trails and they'll just love it! Again, please have doggies leashed or staked up at the campsites. 'Close calls' are no fun for anyone and we've had them. More to come...
