Weekend Trip to Valhalla Tree Farm

We had such a great time the first time we stayed in the A Frame, that we booked it again. Our girls trip was perfect. The sleeping pads are plenty comfy, and the view is stunning. We brought our own water, but the kitchen had pots and pans already. My friend drove her minivan up the hill, which I was a little surprised, but she made it. I don't recommend it though. 4WD is best. Thank You again Shannon for another great stay.

She was such a wonderful, welcoming host, and even without leaving the Hipcamp, there was so much to explore and enjoy for the whole family (pup included)! My partner and I had such a great stay at the cabin! Ian stayed up to greet us when we arrived on a late ferry and gave us an awesome tour of his property, all powered by renewable energy! As someone working in the sustainability sector, this was an amazing sight and super inspiring. We took the weekend nice and slow and spent our time making a fire to warm up the cabin, strolled along the beach, and hiking up Guemes Mountain! A highlight of the trip definitely had to be relaxing in the cozy cabin, cooking on the rocket stove, and the renewable energy tour. We're looking forward to visiting again soon, thanks Ian and Lisa!

Sites have a generous fire pit and access to a Porta-Potty. For bathing I recommend cool dip in the Stillaguamish River. In season there is also fishing, snowshoeing, concerts at the blue grass festival grounds, a rodeo, and so much more.

The Chuckanut Rock

Watch the sunset into the world famous San Juan Islands. Our property is located on the scenic Chuckanut Drive. It is a 15 minute walk to Taylor United's Seafood Bar that has beer and wine. You will need boots just below the knee, or hiking shoes that will get wet. The Creek crossing is a little deeper this year. You will also be crossing a muddy area for about 20 yards, you will sink about 3 inches into the mud. The hike into the campsite takes 12 minutes. You need to contact me to check the tides, as to be able to get to the campsite. We need to hike in below a 5 foot tide. Starting October, the campsite closes for winter. Again , this campsite is Tide dependent. The first question to me should be, What is the latest we can hike in? I am not Moses, I can’t part the sea.

Saltgrass Garden

If you jump off of I-5 at Mount Vernon and use the alternate routes to get to Saltgrass you can go by the flower fields. We are open to start our third season as a Hipcamp. So excited to welcome back our repeat guests and to meet new people. Come enjoy the Bamboo cabin at the north end of Turner Bay. The deck faces southwest toward the water. This is a family property with the host on site in the main house. The cabin is really cozy as we have an HVAC system so you can stay warm in the winter months, and cool in the summer. This unique property's location allows for many fun outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, crabbing; and fishing (seasonal), birding, bicycling and playing on the beach, high tide twice a day brings in all sorts of wildlife as well as the occasional message in a bottle. For small craft (kayak or canoe) boating from here the most accurate tide chart is La Conner Wash. There must be a high tide to get in or out of our little bay. Alternatively, the towns of La Conner and Anacortes have multiple activities available. I would suggest calling ahead in order to book kayaking, rock climbing sailing charter or....? We are located very close to many amenities. You will find the Swinomish Casino and golf course within two miles. Or spend time exploring the little shops and local entertainment in the small towns of Anacortes and La Conner. You can also take a day trip to the San Juan Islands by taking a scenic ferry ride out of Anacortes. While you're here you may meet our pup Turner, or our cats Poly and Minnie, we also have several chickens that provide us with eggs most of the time. Also on the property are your hosts Jeri and Nancy, as well as our handyman Sean who lives in a retro build bus at the north end. Saltgrass boasts beautiful flowers, vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and yes, the Bay. We try to live harmoniously with the land. We would love to share our space with you! Our property has hosted many events, such as weddings, family reunions, company picnics, a music festival, and life celebrations. If you are interested, please let us know. We are always evolving our land to share with others.

Purple Cottage Studio

The *Purple Cottage* -- was found & salvaged (recycled!)-- moved onto the back of my property in 2012. This 16 X 12' place has been my studio in the past, but has offered overflow for friends & family. Nestled in the woods and ever-so-private, the cottage has a pull-out double futon, plus a small sleeping loft and can accommodate 1 -2 nicely (we will consider 3 if you have a small child, but it would be a tight fit!... There is a very small sleeping loft in the cottage.). The cottage offers privacy in a wooded garden setting. The bathhouse, with hot shower, vanity and; toilet --all steps away (and covered) from the main cabin. The Purple Cottage sits on a shy wooded acre, with greenbelt buffers all around, maximizing the sense of privacy. We have a vintage Shasta Trailer across the driveway of the Purple Cottage, which is currently used as a music studio (and rarely as family/guest overflow), and I have my own small Artist Studio located also on the back of the property. Still, with all the little enclave of buildings, the Purple Cottage Studio retains a private feel all to itself. It is located in a quiet little neighborhood, about 6 miles from Langley & 6 miles from Freeland.. Private beach access is across the road and a 15 minute walk up the street, where you can beach comb & explore the shoreline out at our little point. We are located 6 miles from the picturesque town of Langley and equal distance from Freeland, on the south end of Whidbey. Our area is very *bike-able* and either direction will get you to town! The Purple Cottage offers a rustic retreat in a place that feels far away, but is an hour & a half from the bustling city of Seattle! There is reliable wifi available (especially now that the cottage has it's own line! Okay . Beach access is a short walk away.
