You'll enter thru a gate (it may be closed, if closed please close behind you as my neighbor sometimes has cows). Go approx 1 mile the road will split...go up the hill on the right. Continue past the Hay barn another half mile. Park on the left side of the gravel road along the tree line. Another 50ft you'll see a wood foot bridge across the creek. The sites are ahead, PawPaw is first, then Bloodroot Base Camp (bell tent), and lastly Cohosh Cove is the most private. Each site has a sign as well When driving, please be respectful of the right of way. Drive slowly and respect the farm equipment. Also please do not venture onto the neighbor’s property other than entry and exit. About the property 20 minutes from Blacksburg and 35 minutes from Roanoke, our campground gives you great access to the “Triple Crown” of the Appalachian trail, consisting of McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs, and Dragon’s Tooth. Conquer these iconic peaks of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains for spectacular views of the surrounding wilderness. Additionally, explore Falls Ridge Nature preserve, Cascades waterfall, and Carvin’s Cove for hiking, kayaking and mountain biking.  Or just stay on the campground and enjoy the hiking and swimming we offer here.  Nearby in Blacksburg take advantage of the local breweries or Virginia Tech football home games. You can also find Christmas tree cutting in Floyd county, 45mins away.  This property deserves to be shared with others. It is peaceful and beautiful. As your Host, I am passionate about conservation and also teaching people about the medicinal uses of our local herbs. I can lead medicinal herb walks upon request for $25 a person. I typically try to meet the campers if I can upon arrival, I am available for questions and can be hands on or off as the needs of campers suggest. I have had campers ask if I wanted to share a beverage and sit around the fire and have done so. I want to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. I love the peacefulness the property offers, and that you’re in the middle of the wilderness but also have quick access to things in town. The river campsites are my favorite part of the property. Gittn' Pickled is back! Re-opening in August 2026 with upgrades. Gittn' Pickled is located on VA620, a gravel road that doesn't see a lot of traffic. Trout Creek, a lively full year stream, is directly in front of the cabin and provides soothing sounds all day, and night. Gittn' Pickled is .6 miles Trail East of the Appalachian Trail on VA620. Appalachian Trail features Mcafees Knob, Dragon's Tooth, Audie Murphy Memorial, and Tinker Cliffs are just minutes away by motor vehicle. I've prepared a hiking guide to get you started. This is an awesome location to tackle the Triple Crown or just enjoy SW Virginia. Pickles Branch terminates into Trout Creek here. Pickles Branch is a beautiful stream in a cool and richly forested terrain. All of the Miller Cove ground water empties into Pickle's Branch which can become very impressive during high water events. Miller Cove, within the Jefferson National Forest, is an area that was once occupied by a small active community. You will find foundations of old structures, springs, creeks, orchards, mushrooms, ramps, wildlife, and much more. Miller Cove can be accessed, by foot, directly from the site. It can be an especially interesting and pleasant hike without the inconvenience of shuttles and parking. Two bunkbeds are provided with four twin long (35x80) mattresses. These are new hospital bed mattresses with non-permeable covers. Four standard size pillows with non-permeable covers and pillowcases are also provided. You should bring additional bedding as desired; sheets, blankets, etc.

The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life. All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky. We want to share our property with those who want to stay for more than one night, so we do not accept inquiries of single night stays. I know the area was inhabited by native Americans many decades ago. I have found a few broken arrow heads over the years. The farm is beautiful and quiet. Weekend Trip to All R kids farm

Sheila was so friendly and very responsive when communicating. Her dogs are phenomenal, they are so sweet and great with kids. While we didn't get to tour the farm much because we were so busy with other items Shelia offered and was willing to accommodate my schedule. Peeking at the animals they were all so cute.

4 nights at Blue Bird with Heat/AC!!

Scott was great. He responded quickly and was very helpful, but gave us our space and privacy. The paths through the woods and the little fairy lights were very nice. The grill has a little side burner , so you can do all of your cooking outdoors. How to set up the second bed, or even where to find the second bed, was not blatantly obvious. Be sure to ask for instructions. It is easy and comfy once you figure it out. Using their personal shower in the main house was a little uncomfortable, but that's just my own problem. Again , Scott was very accommodating and gave us space and privacy. The bathroom and sink in the bus are a regular R.V set up with a water tank, so you must use water conservatively. It was so hot, so we never had a campfire, but Scott provided some firewood, and there were nice tiki torches to keep the bugs away. We really enjoyed our stay. It would seem that the negative reviewers failed to remember that this is a Hip Camp and not an Airbnb. It's not even a $30k RV parked at a campground. It is quiet, rustic camping with a real bed and some convenient amenities. This is a great Hipcamp!

1 night at Hippie Hollow

If you're looking for a polished campground with matching patio furniture... keep driving. If you're looking for a place that feeds your soul... welcome home! Hippie Hollow completely stole our hearts. The second we pulled in, it felt less like checking into a campground and more like accidentally finding the coolest family reunion you've never been invited to... except everyone immediately invites you anyway. Sly is an absolute legend! The kind of human who makes you feel like you've been friends for years within five minutes. You can tell this place isn't just a business......it's his heart, and it shows in every little detail. My daughter immediately declared herself queen of the campground, adopted the resident cat, floated the creek like she owned it, lived in the hammocks with her brother, and somehow turned a towel into high fashion. I spent my days drinking wine in the outdoor kitchen, smiling like an idiot, and wondering why real life can't always feel this peaceful... The vintage camper is ridiculously charming, the outdoor kitchen has everything you need, the creek is perfect for cooling off, the stage and gathering area make you want to stay for "just one more night," and somehow everyone leaves feeling like old friends. This was my first solo camping trip and this place was beyond my expectations! It is such a beautiful place and you can tell Wendy has really put a lot of love and care into this place to make it absolutely perfect! She was the best host ever! I miss this place already and can’t wait to go back!

3 nights at Mystic Meadow Farm Glamping.

The shade at this site and the cold running creek saved us from the hot July 4th temperatures this weekend...the kids caught a box turtle, a couple of minnows, several salamanders and crawfish and a bunch of frogs (all released!). Definitely needed the fans because there was no breeze!! Excellent facilities and a wonderful experience.

Woodpecker 1 was absolutely beautiful! It was close to the creek and we even hunted down one of the swimming holes! It’s also a very easy walk to the bath house and the bathrooms were well kept and clean.

This was our second time staying at Thunder BRidge. Even though it was the hottest weekend imaginable, we still had a great time. The primitive “cabin” was perfect for our friends who don’t typically go camping. We visited a couple swimming holes near by to cool off. We will be back in the fall!

Rustic while not lacking any amenities. We were so comfortable and appreciated all the little touches! There is a short walk through grass, and a gate, to get inside. This wasn't an issue but noted so you can be mindful the weight of items needed. Bugs weren't bad at all but helps to bring bug spray. The cabin itself was so charming. The pool took care of us in the heat and the barn was the perfect place to chill during the rain. Highly recommend 10/10!

As usual, the place is kept nicely. The camper we rented was clean and cute. The people were friendly and kind. Animals, fish, butterflies everywhere. Community gathering areas and more private sites. This was our third time staying and we enjoyed it!

Great location with a credible creek to lull you to sleep. Trailer was very comfy and clean. I really appreciated the fridge stove and dishes so you can easily cook for yourself. Sly was a great host and very responsive to any questions or concerns. Better than any hotel!

3 nights at Wilderness Adventure

Sneaky Cabin was exactly what we were after for a quick birthday meetup between two families with kids from Elementary school to High School. We floated the nearby James both days, did some trail running on the Outer Space trail on the property, mountain biking. I will say we also really enjoyed the creek, Gaga ball, snd tether ball. Staff and other guest were friendly. 100% of us returning…!

1 night at Riverside Campground at Seneca

It was awesome! The tent overlooked a creek, and there was access to the creek to go swimming. The setting was absolutely beautiful. I would definitely visit again.
