Hilltop with views of the mountains facing east and west. Close to Harrisonburg. Several areas to camp in, take your pick. Nice shady wooded area overlooking Joes Creek. Be happy to give you a tour of the mushroom farm. Learn more about this land: The wooded area is next to my house. There's about 4 acres to explore and a gravel road rarely traveled for a nice walk to a view for a great sunset.  Harrisonburg is 5 minutes from here and has lots of night life, micro breweries etc. I have long power cords if you need electric at the campsite. You may hear owls hooting at night.  The campsite is under white pines with a thick bed of pine needles. There are several campsites under the red cedar trees that are naturally bug and mosquito resistant.     Shenandoah National Park is about 45 minutes away if you go to the 33 entrance and 45 minutes away to go to the Luray entrance. Lots of bears there and hikes to waterfalls. No hunting there.  Solar panels provide half of my energy needs. GW National forest has lots of hiking and mt biking and is half an hour away. Great views of the mountains from the  campsite area.  I'm dedicated to having lots of native plants and trees. I do not spray any pesticides.  Plenty of free firewood. Not too far off interstate 81.  I give tours of the mushroom farm whenever the weather isn't below freezing. I don't recommend anything larger than a conversion van. Very small pull behind campers are OK . All campers are required to leave every day from 1 to 5. Belongings may be kept here. There is a bathroom inside the house. No showers , please guys relieve yourself behind a tree instead of tying up a bathroom .. Harpine Highway is nearby and does have some trafffic noise but it's not close enough to discourage most campers.

Our enclosed shower stalls are there for a reason: shower, dry off, then get dressed before rejoining the great outdoors. • “It was in somebody’s backyard.” Sorry — our two acres aren’t tucked away in the middle of a federally protected reserve in the middle of nowhere. But our closest neighbor is nearly 300 feet away, and we happen to think riverside camping with a little civilization nearby is a pretty great trade-off. ⸻ If those realities feel unacceptable, we wish you luck finding a soundproof, neighbor-free, bird-mute utopia. But if you’re after a laid-back, laughter-filled, and unapologetically outdoor getaway on the banks of the South River — welcome. You’ve found it. Don’t forget your robe.

There are 2 horse back riding camps in the area to offer a beautiful view of our area on horseback. The activities are endless. Several excellent wineries are within a short diving distance. There is a fire ring at each site and we provide a free bundle of wood to each guest with more bundles available for $4 each. A porta potty is also located on the property for our guest. Please read the rules and recomendations posted at the site when you arrive. There is no lifeguard on duty, so you swim at your own risk. Although the creek is pretty shallow most of the time, we ask that if you have children, they are supervised at all times, especially around the water. We think you will love our little piece of heaven and we look forward to your visit!

This was a 55-acre farm, split in half to accommodate a bypass through Charlottesville, so the previous owners had to give up half the land, and actually moved the house down to the other half of the property! They had to build a land bridge to get to the new home site, so they turned the bridge into a dam and created a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. My wife Stephanie and I bought the property in early 2017 and have turned it into a private horse farm, adding pastures, a riding ring, and 6-stall barn. There are ~21 horses who live on the property. The property is unique in that you can hardly see another house from anywhere on the property and yet we are only 2 miles from Barracks Rd. Shopping Center, and 4 miles from the University of Virginia.

Welcome to our small Farm, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Madison County, Virginia. Located just minutes from Shenandoah National Park, we offer intimate nature-inspired cottages and camping on our 120-acre working farm. Enjoy an evening under the stars with fireflies and a campfire after a long day hike, fly fishing on one of our beautiful trout steams or touring the local vineyards and breweries. We currently offer one cottage, glamping and a few campsites for our guests. Our campsites are all private, located acres apart with tables, chairs, firepits, some elevated sleeping areas, some hammock spots and a few with a roof. Three of our spots require walking away from your vehicle, short distances. We have four drive-in sites that will accommodate two or three vehicles. We do not allow RVs or trailers on our main farm due to our narrow mountain driveway. Wisteria Camp has a private driveway, it can accommodate small RV/Trailers. Camper vans are welcome at the main farm! Our farm store includes our Animal Welfare Approved products such as Eggs, Chicken, Beef, Pork, Lamb and Dairy, as well as produce, jams, coffee and other items from our local community. We offer camping essentials, local art, bike rentals, farm experiences and tours. The property has miles of trails along mountain spring-fed streams, a small pond and access to three private acres on the Robinson River, a stocked Trout stream, just 2 miles down the road. Our property is centrally located to White Oak Canyon (20 minutes) and Old Rag Mountain (10 minutes) trailheads in the Shenandoah National Park as well as many vineyards and breweries. The confluence of these two rivers creates a serene and enchanting atmosphere that you can explore and enjoy. In the state of Virginia, a fishing license is required on all rivers. We recommend walking up stream or down stream if you plan to fish, as the water is often only 2-3' deep near the camp sites. Abundance of Wildlife: Nature enthusiasts will be delighted to discover the diverse and abundant wildlife that calls Two Rivers home. Birdwatching, nature photography, and simply observing the local fauna are all favorite pastimes here. Please note that hunting is not allowed on the property by guests, ensuring a safe and protected environment for the animals that grace us with their presence. **Kayak season is in the spring - the water depth average should at least be 2.75’ before attempting a trip. It offers peaceful and private fishing for trout, bass, suckers and several varieties of pan fish. Cool off in the summer with a dip in the cool clean waters or relax and read a book with the sounds of nature. You can enjoy the cows, horses and goats who love the attention! However we ask you let us know before trying to pet or interact with the animals because we do have a Livestock Guardian Dog inside the fence with them and she is very protective of her herd. In the spring and summer we offer for sale fresh eggs and organic produce to our guest. Our property is located in the heart of Fort Valley. We have miles of hiking trails all around. There are 2 horse back riding camps in the area to offer a beautiful view of our area on horseback. The activities are endless. Several excellent wineries are within a short diving distance. There is a fire ring at each site and we provide a free bundle of wood to each guest with more bundles available for $4 each. A porta potty is also located on the property for our guest. Please read the rules and recomendations posted at the site when you arrive. There is no lifeguard on duty, so you swim at your own risk. Although the creek is pretty shallow most of the time, we ask that if you have children, they are supervised at all times, especially around the water. This was a 55-acre farm, split in half to accommodate a bypass through Charlottesville, so the previous owners had to give up half the land, and actually moved the house down to the other half of the property! They had to build a land bridge to get to the new home site, so they turned the bridge into a dam and created a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. My wife Stephanie and I bought the property in early 2017 and have turned it into a private horse farm, adding pastures, a riding ring, and 6-stall barn. There are ~21 horses who live on the property. The property is unique in that you can hardly see another house from anywhere on the property and yet we are only 2 miles from Barracks Rd. Shopping Center, and 4 miles from the University of Virginia.

The yurt at fairy glen is lovely! Though it rained on our stay, we still loved it and felt cozy, especially with the rain sound. The birds were amazing as our alarm clock in the morning. The property is so nice and we got their pretty black cat as our tour guide! We will definitely come back! 😌

This is an amazing camp site. I should probably write out a bunch of bad things so people don’t come here but my goodness is this site awesome. 180° surrounded by a small river, large hills and rock outcroppings face one half while the other half is forested farm lands. The campsites to your left and right are far enough away that you don’t have to worry about other people being in your business. I car camped here during the snow storm of 01/2026 so the river was frozen over but I’m sure there are rock bass or even trout. Great spot… highly recommend… definitely coming back in the spring to try some fly fishing!

Weekend Trip to Beaver Cove

We had a great time here and would absolutely come back. The property is spacious with lots of spots to set up, which makes it especially great for a group trip where everyone wants a bit of room to spread out. If you’re planning to camp by the creek, 4-wheel drive is a must. The terrain is no joke, but totally worth it once you’re settled. There are large piles of wood for use, just bring an axe or proper saw for firewood, they came in very handy for us to get pieces down to size for our jack stove. Electric hookups were clutch during our stay. It was overcast the whole time, so our solar panels were basically useless. If your device can’t sit directly on a ledge near the outlet, bring an extension cord. You’ll thank yourself later. Temps dropped down to 11 degrees, and we were impressed that the pump water didn’t freeze at all and tasted great. Big win for cold-weather camping. One heads-up on site selection: the spot by the firepit and picnic table is convenient, but it’s close to the road, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for something more tucked away. There’s no cell service for Verizon down by the creek, so plan accordingly. If you need connectivity, Starlink is the move. Overall, a solid stay with beautiful surroundings and wildlife, and plenty of flexibility depending on how you like to camp. Just come prepared and you’ll have an awesome experience.

1 night at #1 Rock Tavern River Kamp

We really enjoyed camping at Cherokee Yurt! It is a very short drive from Luray caverns, so we would definitely visit them if we came back. The stars were beautiful at night. The yurt had more than enough space and items (even a waffle maker!). The only complaint we had was that the heat was not turned on when we came, despite the owner saying it would be, and when we did turn it on it only got up to about 50 degrees and took many hours. Admittedly, it was a very cold night--about 18 degrees--and for a glamping site with relatively poor insulation, that isn't entirely unexpected. But we would highly recommend that you temper your expectations if you stay in the winter and maybe bring a few heated blankets.

Unfortunately, one of the days was very rainy-- our tent flooded and we found it difficult leaving the muddy driveway. All in all, would use again, as long as, there is no precipitation in the forecast.

The cabin was amazing! We loved the outdoor fire pit, wood stove and the loft space. It kept us plenty warm and cozy during the cold nights and mornings. The creek on the property was great to sit and read a book by or to splash around. It is probably pretty epic in the warmer months. It was super quiet and welcoming. The pit toilet was super clean and functional which was great. We really enjoyed our stay! Meeting Bill, the dog, was a real highlight for our kids!

Graham was an excellent host and all 4 sites here are beautiful! We stayed at site 2 but since no one else was on site we were able to walk the rest of them too. Site 2 is definitely the largest and most wide-open for multiple tents, we had 4, 6-person tents. Graham communicated, brought firewood down twice for us, and all in all we felt like we were the only ones out there! Beautiful spot and will definitely be returning!

There are total of 4 sites, initially used the directions from the app which actually is misleading, so please update it, use the address and instruction from the owner. Will be a beautiful place, it’s primitive camping, would be a great upgrade to put some toilet facilities. Will be definitely going back in spring to experience the river.

This cabin was absolutely lovely. I cannot recommend it enough! The wood burning stove kept us cozy on chilly nights, and we got great sleep in the loft. The farm pup is adorable!! The kitchen was fabulous and had everything we needed. This was the perfect place to spend a birthday get-away. There were a few wasps and one did find its way into a sleeping bag, but that comes with being outdoors. The town nearby is lovely and the largest antique warehouse in the country is just down the road! Plus proximity to lots of hiking. We can’t wait to come back!

Private, quiet stream-front site. Our lab loved frolicking in the stream. Site was level and well-sized for my truck and camping trailer. In the summer, it would get a lot of sun over the southern ridge opposite the river, so solar collection would work. In November, sun was in short supply, and the sun angle was pretty low, so we just barely eked by. We bring our own bathroom facilities(Cleanwaste GO), but other campers who don’t want to be digging cat holes should be aware that there are no bathroom facilities if they are staying on site for a long time. Convenient to Old Rag for day hikers, and Montpelier for history buffs. No trouble with raccoons etc, but we kept our food secured just in case. Nice steel fire pit, which made cooking over the fire a breeze.
