The Luray Caverns, a national historic site, with it’s famous Great Stalacpipe Organ, are just a few minutes away, and tubing, canoeing, and white-water rafting adventure can be found at the nearby Shenandoah River. Learn more about this land: This is a beautiful 44 acre land with a water stream running through it making it a serene and relaxing hidden gem. The camp site is on a 12 acre open field with complete privacy from the main road with Sheep living on the property. There are two small mountain ridges that are great for hiking while being able to enjoy the scenic panoramic views. There is also a 9 acres of land across the main camp site that is surrounded by water on 3 sides, which is excellent for fishing. We are located just a few miles from the West Virginia boarder. TIPS: -PLEASE KEEP ALL FOOD IN THE CAR when going to sleep or when you are away from the site. - The area has wild animals (snakes, bears, coyotes, etc.) so make sure you stay safe and keep your food in a secure place. *pro-tip: animals are typically more scared of you, however be cautious and watch your step. - During the Spring and Summer, there are all kind of bugs around so make sure bug spray is a priority!! - There are two natural spring waters locations near by. - If your planning to go into the water make sure to put on WATER SHOES! and enter at your own risk.

Welcome to The Trout Camp, aka Fontinalis Farms, a small, family-owned campground nestled beside the Monongahela National Forest on the banks of Big Run and The North Fork River. Our spacious site offers 30 acres to explore, with 15 tent sites and annual RV sites available for reservation. Kids under 16 are free! This spot was private and had great access to a creek. I have a dog that doesn’t do well with strangers and it was so nice being able to let him run around and play in the water off leash. The host checked in via text to see if we needed anything while we were there. We did bring a 21 foot camper and had no issues getting in or out.

Weekend Trip to Darby Farm

Robin is a super gracious and welcoming host. Her home and sites are located in a beautiful part of Virginia. We arrived early and had choice of the sites. We chose the most remote and private site of the three that were available. We had a small corner of the farm back by the chickens, horses and goats. The sites are not that far apart and on the small size, but they still felt adequately private. It’s just right for a short stay. There are many wineries and tap rooms in the area, in addition to parks and hiking trails. The morning we left Robin came to say goodbye and treated us to some delicious pumpkin bread that her daughter makes and sells on her IG. Check them out at Derby Farms. Thank you, Robin. It was our pleasure.

Loved this place! Very quiet, beautiful scenery, serene. Very well maintained. Only word of caution is if you are bringing an RV. We have a 23 foot one and followed GPS. It took us on a narrow, one lane gravel road that was a little dicey. The Hipcamp host, Abdallah, gave us an alternate way out that was SO much better. So - if you are bringing an RV, have Abdallah give you specifics!
