Being in the Piedmont region, we also have quick access to multiple vineyards that make for a great day trip. There are opportunities to go swimming, hiking, kayaking, rafting, and visit wineries all within 20-60 miles of our property. There is really something for everyone to do!We're surrounded by working farms on all sides so, thankfully, the only noise is from a heard of sheep across the way, or some deer in the forest. It’s a truly peaceful outdoor getaway. As hosts, we typically greet our visitors at some point during their stay, though we are very happy to respect total privacy. We hope you enjoy the wonderful sunsets, creek access, and stars above as much as we do!About the Listing:Come pitch your tent or park your RV on our property and set up camp at the edge of our farm! We have a few other campsites, well-spaced apart, so you can expect to see other campers periodically throughout your stay in passing or in common areas such as the toilet. You will be able to enjoy privacy and all the serenity that the outdoors has to offer! There is cooking grate on the fire pit so you can cook up some delicious meals. We’d suggest bringing some camping chairs if you’re tent camping to enjoy your meals or your morning coffee, as we do not have a picnic table on site. You can also enjoy cozying up by the private campfire and toasting some marshmallows at sunset. We have potable well water for our campers as well as a shared double stall composting toilet for your comfort. The toilets are set up near the campsites for added convenience. There's an Exxon station less than .5 a mile from our entrance, and Public Access to the Rockfish River is available .75 mile away. Charlottesville is an easy 25 minute drive.

This is a working farm, home to both Livestock Guardian Dogs as well as resident dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, horses, goats and other various livestock. If you choose to bring your dog/s, please let us know when booking. You should NOT bring your dog/s if they are high-strung, overly sensitive, aggressive, or not trained. Our livestock guardian dogs are hard-wired to protect so if they sense an uncomfortable vibe from another dog, it will make them uncomfortable and they need to be focused on doing their jobs.
Safety, privacy and environmental impact is very important to us. We require a minimum of 50 feet between each campsite. Please contain all trash, human waste and canine waste and pack it out with you when you leave. Be kind to the areas in which you camp, as they are home to many wildlife, native trees/shrubs/plants and in some cases, food for horses and cows (hay fields).
Each site is provided a fire pit (upon request) and we sell firewood.

At days end you can go to concerts or “clubbing” in town or return to Billyville and enjoy the quiet, peaceful ambiance of a campfire under a starlit sky.
Check-Ins and Arrival Instructions:
Check-ins on weekdays are dependent on my work schedule. If this is your first time at Billyville, I need to be on property to guide you into your site. Please reach out before your stay so we can coordinate. If I am off on that day, check-in is after 1pm. If I am working, it will be after 5pm and occasionally after 7. I am currently testing out some procedures to allow self check-in. We'll see how that pans out.
Anyway, to get to Billyville:
Turn onto Bells Lane. (Dirt Road). You'll see a white fence on your left down the lane about .2 miles. Just after the fence, you'll see a red sign at the beginning of a rope fence. Turn off Bells Lane just after the sign and follow the fence, keeping it on you left.

Weekend Trip to Arcadia Sanctuary
We had an absolutely incredible stay at this mountain yurt in Amherst, Virginia. We came in the winter months (because we’re a little crazy) and ended up getting stuck during a snowstorm — and somehow that made the whole experience even more unforgettable.
The hosts were beyond amazing. They went out of their way to make sure we were safe, comfortable, and taken care of the entire time. True hospitality. 11/10.
If you’re looking for peace, quiet, and a place to unplug and reset — this is it. Whether you want tranquility or you’re just trying to find yourself for a bit, this place delivers.
Also, we have to give a special shoutout to Buddy the dog, who kept us company and made the whole stay even better. Such a good boy and the perfect mountain host assistant.
And a big thank-you to the workers who helped us get out of the snow — we seriously appreciated the help more than you know.

when it comes to camping with kids i try to find places that can entertain them the whole time and this site met the expectations! the farm was so cute and lovely, the kids loved being able to play on the playground and were obsessed with all the animals which were all super friendly (especially the cats). the site feels far away from everything, but a grocery store is less than 10 min away. the hosts and her children were all very friendly and helpful. Apryl was attentive to any of our needs we really enjoyed our stay. i definitely recommend this site for children/ families!

My family and I really enjoyed our stay on the farm. We were trying to book a last minute camping trip. There were no tent sites available but Apryl accommodated our family in another spot on the property, which we felt was actually really awesome ! We loved the farm and camping amongst the animals. It was like nothing we have ever done before. All of the animals are friendly and accustomed to people. The farm cats were the absolute cutest and often followed us around looking to be held and played with. My daughter was able to milk a cow for the first time, and she thought it was so cool. We even got to try the milk right from the cow, such a cool experience ! All of the kids on the farm were very kind and generous. We liked interacting with them and learning their roles on the farm and each of their stories with the farm animals. We learned a lot from the kids. My daughter did not want to leave this place. Hopefully we will get to visit again soon !
