The property is such a peaceful spot! We have a rustic outhouse, and showers can be taken in the main farmhouse on the property if you would like, available Monday thru Saturday from 8am to 9am. So that means Sundays are not available or evenings. The cabin is outfitted with a comfy bed, fridge, and microwave and coffee maker. In a way that is never intrusive, we respect your privacy. Come and unwind with nature all around you. We are very pet friendly! And ask that all dogs are on a leash while outside. Also, pets are not to be left in the cabins unattended at any time. Our land abuts a hiking trail on the side of Spruce Mountain, and we are about ¼ mile from the trailhead to the Spruce Mountain Trail and L.R. Jones State Forest, the oldest state forest in Vermont. Cross-country skiing trails are nearby, and ski resorts are 40 minutes to an hour away. Ten minutes down the road is the quaint Plainfield Village, with a small pizza shop, used bookstore, café, and gas station. Five minutes farther is Fox Market and Bar, along with the River Oddities shop. A twenty-minute drive from the cabin brings you to the cities of Montpelier or Barre, which host a variety of museums, parks, local stores, restaurants, and a few larger chains and grocery stores. At night, the futon folds into a double bed that comfortably sleeps two. There are lamps upstairs and downstairs, as well as plenty of outlets to charge your devices for the next day’s adventures. Accessibility Notes: Parking is available for two cars. There is a 500-foot walking path through the woods to the cabin. The cabin is not ADA accessible and has a set of steep stairs— not quite a ladder, but steep! No pets, please, as we have two sweet cats and a loving dog who prefer to have their space. 🙂

I really enjoyed being in the tiny house. It was cozy and warm. Tucked away on a hillside with Berlin Pond in view,, it really was the perfect getaway! It was close enough to Bolton Valley and Sugarbush Ski Resort and ,also near Montpelier so I could get a delicious meal in town after snowboarding all day.

I had a wonderful stay at this cabin! It was adorably decorated with a cozy rustic aesthetic and felt very welcoming. The bed was super comfortable, and although there was a space heater provided, I didn’t end up needing it. The host was extremely communicative and helpful, even making sure I had a warm shower in the morning, which I really appreciated. The views of the river were beautiful—especially in the morning with the fog rolling across the water. One of my favorite parts of the stay was the animals on the property—it made the experience feel even more special. I also loved that I was able to bring my dog along with me.

The cabin had a great view of the river and I enjoyed my stay. My dog was allowed which I always appreciate. Jessica brought a heater for me which was perfect for the chilly nights. I arrived at night and did not see the sink/hose for water. You do have to turn the water on and off from the house. Jessica was very responsive and I was able to meet and chat with her. There are chickens, ducks, and 2 goats but I did not hear any of them at all from the cabin.

Jessica is a great host and the cabin was really clean and cute! The set up is really cool and the view is amazing but we can’t have access because the road is private as mentioned by Jessica. The rustic toilet was really tidy! Real dish would be highly appreciated like wine glasses, real plates, glasses instead of paper cup, etc. Also, an additional time to shower after the day (example from 4:00 to 5:00) would be nice after a long hike. Overall the place is great for 1 or 2 nights! Thanks!

What a wonderful and beautiful spot. A perfect view from the fire pit for morning coffee or an evening drink.The cabin is well constructed and decorated nicely. A very comfortable matress. One day I went was very rainy and the cabin has a metal roof, so a bit loud that evening. I cooked outside on my coleman stove on a provided table. Its a slight sloop down to the cabin, but at 62 I had no issues. If one is into bird watching, I counted 21 different species just around the cabin. Mostly the usual suspects, but Northern Flickers, Common Yellow Throats, Black & White Warblers, Baltimore Orioles and I believe White Crowned Sparrows. A very great area down by the stream, all you need to do is stand still and let them come. I was in the area for the 250th Annaversary of the taking of Fort Ticonderoga. Make sure to visit Skene Manor. Also if you have time walk around Whitehall, Birthplace of the American Navy and a Bigfoot sanctuary city. Be prepared to bring all you need, outside supplies may be a bit of a drive for those not used to rural living. Dan the host was very friendly and supportive.
