We live on 75 acres of woods and hay fields. Larry is a self-taught hay-farmer since we moved from the mid-west in 2007. The property was a fallow dairy farm from the 70's. It used to be called Common View Farm. We hear the name came from the fact that we can see the Craftsbury Common from the height of the property. Legend holds that people have seen strange lights and orbs in the area. It may just be a yarn told by the locals to the new flatlanders. I have never noticed anything of the sort and I have been looking. Who doesn't like a good New England ghost story? Larry farms about 30 acres of the property; square bales for horses. The rest are woods. We have our own old mare, Ruby, which gave Larry the haying idea. She has two goat buddies, Danny-Boy and Brownie (guess what color he is?). Our dog, Tinker, runs the land and loves dog friends as well as humans. Our views are of the Lowell Mountains closest and the Green Mountains in the distance. You can see the Lowell wind farm on the horizon. We have a large garden and raspberry patch. When in season, you are free to pick! The house on the property, Larry built. It's a beauty. He also has two shops and some barns. No shortage of farm implements. You are welcome to walk to your heart's content and to visit Ruby and the boys. Learn more about this land: The Northwoods Gypsy Wagon is a 3-minute walk into the woods from the parking area.  You can have all the solitude you'd like or visit the nearby towns.  In this off-grid wagon, you will have an indoor cooking stove (2 burner propane) and a propane stove for the cooler nights but no running water, therefore no indoor plumbing.  Fresh water, battery operated lights, solar panel which provides one lamp and a place to plug in your phone, coffee/tea set ups. Wi-Fi/cell cov is not available.  There is a privy exclusively for the wagon and a place for a cold-water wash up.  This is truly tiny space, however; sleeps 2 adults. We owned an ecological landscape design/build company for 15 years so the gardens, meadows, woodlands and trails are wild with biodiversity and color. The farm is a certified Bee Friendly Farm through the Pollinator Partnership. We give guided tours weekly upon request and discuss the ecological restoration efforts that are underway as well as our 'Seed to Soap' project that is Farm Craft VT. Our Farm Store is open daily from 8-8 and is self-serve. All sites have fire-pits (don't forget to order a firewood bundle), room for a group of 4-6, and views of starry skies. Please Note - none of the campsites are accessible by car. They don't have electricity or air conditioning - yup it's camping, just a wee bit more comfortable. For the complete Farm Craft VT experience, book a guided-farm tour on our website where you can smell the herbs, taste the honey from our hives, learn about how essential oils are distilled, how seed oils are pressed and handcrafted soap is made on site. Our property is nestled in the foothills of the Mad River Valley, close to the headwaters of the river. The property is composed of wetlands, agricultural meadows, old apple trees, and hardwood forest with 700 feet of elevation. All structures on the property are solar-powered and a rainwater system feeds the sink in the outdoor kitchen. There are a handful of individual camp sites available in the spring, summer and fall, as well as a communal outdoor kitchen with lighting, a fire pit, a stone pizza oven and a sitting/yoga deck. We also offer more of a "glamping" experience in our 14 ft yurt, which comfortably sleeps 2-3 people with wood stove heat and a solar battery for lighting. We love sharing this space with others and offering a rustic forest getaway.

Kathleen and John’s cabin is a treasure. It’s exactly as cozy and beautiful as the pictures suggest, and well stocked with the essentials for a comfortable stay. I spent 4 days in December there during consistent snow fall and high winds and never suffered for it. There was ample wood for the stove and fresh water. It was an ideal setting for my trip. And beyond all that, the hosts were extremely thoughtful and caring, even going so far to help me unstuck my car from the unforgiving vermont snowscape. I can’t recommend it enough. 10/10

The view is beautiful! We were lucky to have arrived after a few inches of snow had fallen and it stayed on the trees the whole time we were there-it was absolutely gorgeous! We saw deer cross the road, heard owls and coyotes. Trails at the end of the road. As it states the cabin is small but Kathleen made excellent use of the space and 2 adults in there was just fine. Very cozy, more than enough wood to keep the woodstove going and have campfires. Everything you need is already provided. Was cloudy when we were there but on a clear night it would be a fantastic place to stargaze. Kathleen was a wonderful hostess. Very accommodating, very responsive and just a sweetheart all around.

Weekend Trip to Vermont Rustic Retreat

We loved staying at Kathleen’s place! The cabin is very private, feels completely safe, and the view is fantastic. Everything was very clean and nicely organized, and the minute you arrive you have everything you need. Even though the weather was cold, we stayed cozy and warm thanks to the wood stove, which was surprisingly efficient. The kindling and firewood were fully stocked as well, making the stay easy and comfortable. A wonderful experience overall! Thank you:)

This was my second stay at the Zen Cabin. I just love the peace that surrounds the whole property. The cabin is very comfortable and there's a nice propane stove to keep it warm. I can't say enough about how good the well water is. For me, this is the perfect place to disconnect with the chaos of the world and connect with nature. Beautiful!

HOWL is at the bas of Camel's Hump! It's an easy drive to the trailhead and one heck of a hike up. Totally worth it! There are equally cozy or adventurous options all around HOWL.

Staying at Kathleen’s cabin was exactly the place we needed to unwind and enjoy Vermont at its fullest. The cabin has the most amazing view on the valley. It’s really well equipped and has everything you need. Kathleen was super communicative and even helped us find the cabin in the dark (we missed the sign). We stayed there with our dachshund who loved running around and feeling free outside of the city!

Beautiful and easy to find spot with basically everything you could need for a no frills glamping weekend and the outhouse is probably the nicest one I’ve ever been in. My dogs loved running around in the field and the inside of the tent was very spacious. Susan and Drew stopped by to introduce themselves and make sure we were all set for the weekend. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Broadfork Farmstead

I really enjoyed staying on the bus—it was such a unique experience! I was grateful it was available for a last-minute booking that same night. Carol’s communication and responsiveness were excellent, making check-in smooth even with my late-night arrival. The bus itself was cozy and charming, set right on the farm with a clean outhouse just steps away, equipped with a motion light for nighttime use. Inside, the space was thoughtfully arranged with a small table, chairs, two sofa beds, and foldable mattresses. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and each window had blinds to block out light. It was a cold night, but I came prepared with sleeping bags, extra blankets, and heating pads. Carol also offers a space heater as an add-on, which I’d recommend during cooler seasons! A pleasant surprise was the power bar which was so useful for charging my devices and the bus also had reliable Wi-Fi! I only stayed one night but wish I’d had more time to explore the farm, there were adorable animals on my way out! I also wish I’d tried the breakfast add-ons as they looked delicious. Overall, it was a memorable stay that I’d definitely recommend. I got to tell all my friends that I slept on a bus and had a great story to tell! Thanks Carol :)

2 nights at Broadfork Farmstead

I had a wonderful two night stay on The Bus. My friend joined me the first night, but had to get back to work, so my second night was solo. We both found the accommodation funky and comfortable. As a farm girl, myself, I always love to be around piglets, chickens, dogs, cows… Carol was a very warm, gracious hostess, eager to share her insights on local attractions. Her breakfasts and cheese plate displayed impressive attention to detail, using superb local ingredients and so artfully arranged, include cloth napkins tucked into baskets. I hope I am able to return next year, and have already recommended her place and the area to friends looking for a satisfying roaming destination.

The short bus was super cozy and we were warm with just sheets and a couple blankets we brought, no heater, on a night it probably got down into the low 40’s. The farm animals were a delight and we got to meet the piglets with Carol. Also love the running water/sink right outside the bus. Great spot!

Weekend Trip to Vermont Rustic Retreat

We enjoyed our northern VT glamping experience in this cozy rustic cabin. I took advantage of the appliances and made coffee each morning and kept some local cabot cheese and salami in the fridge for snacking between adventures. The dogs loved the porch and grounds. We did have an animal having itself a time one night under the cabin which woke me up (just in case you have a noise sensitive pup) but the second night it was quiet! We enjoyed a local hike and hill farmstead brewery during our stay. Close to local ponds for paddling too if that’s your preference. I didn’t have great service (verizon) and had to go to town for some parts of the day to respond to messages/plan next travels (downloading maps etc) so be mindful of that if you’re staying here! Overall, it was a very cozy experience and I’d definitely recommend it.

We loved staying in the yurt during leaf peeping season! We were very warm, cozy, and feeling ‘off the grid’ in this secluded sunshine flooded spot with very little, if any, cell service. Our 26 lb pocket pittie had a blast running around all the hills and hopping around in the brush like a bunny. She was very sad when it was time to leave. I think this spot would be excellent for folks with small children as well because there’s plenty of nooks and crannies to explore without going very far. We loved sitting at the outdoor breakfast nook, reading, and napping in the breeze.

Conifer Cabin exceeded our expectations. The Cabin itself is very much as described/photographed - you have everything you need to be out of the elements and comfortable but it retains the best parts of camping. What delighted us was the orientation of the cabin relative to Medora’s house and the other HipCamp offering. Although both were within a short walk, we always felt like we had the place to ourselves. Medora was an excellent host.- warm, welcoming and communicative. Vermont put a burn ban in place a couple of days before we arrived. Medora reached out to let us know we couldn’t have the fire pit near the cabin and offered a solution that worked out even better for us.
