Only 10 minutes from Cherry Plain State Park, Cherry Plain Sanctuary Farm/ Hearts in Hand Horsemanship LLC is a 150 acre hidden destination for outdoor adventurers, families and solo campers. We are a safe place for women who are traveling alone. We ensure everyone's quiet experience by not publishing our actual address. Please note: We ask for photo ID. Once we receive your photo ID via text we will provide exact directions to our property. Please plan to check in no later than 4:30pm as we are not available for later check ins unless we agree to meet you. It is dark at 5pm so early check in is critical. We host NYS Police along with local police/sheriff deputies here through our organization Hearts in Hand Horsemanship LLC. Don't be surprised if you see a NYS trooper or police unit parked up in the field near the horses. Fires: We allow small fires in specific spots, namely the fire ring at Camping on Blueberry Hill, at Ft Sky and inside the Tipi. Campsite fires are allowed weather permitting, when it's not windy and must be kept small. If it's windy then you can still have a fire in the tipi. No large fires or bonfires. All fires must be completely out unless you are physically with your fire. We supply 5 gallons of water and more is available to drink, wash dishes and put your fire out. Please respect our rules. Fire safety is necessary to keep everything safe here for all of us. Thank you for understanding. Here in the mountains we can experience very cold nights. We supply a small pile of firewood for a small fire at no charge. If you like, you can gather more dead wood (not live trees) in our forests. Winter is coming soon. Please bring lots of clothes and layers. Stay warm! Smoking: We are primarily a non-smoking/vaping farm and appreciate you smoking/vaping in your vehicle not on our premises please. Partying: Nope not us. Our farm is peaceful and quiet and so are our neighbors. Please party elsewhere and come here to relax in the blissful quiet of nature. Quiet music, just playing some Spotify tunes and acoustic musicians are welcome here. There's a great bar restaurant 5 minutes from us, "17 Cherry Plain Sq". Live music, great food and something like 40 beers on tap. Party there then chill out here with us. Breakfast and the best beef this side of the Mississippi can be found at Gardners Cafe and Icecream Shop only 5 miles up 22 South from our place. You can enjoy a big fat omelet with homefries and bacon then grab frozen hamburg and steaks from Gardner's own local beef grown wild and free outside. Cherry Plain Sanctuary Farm is adjacent to miles of public forest. Peace and solace can be found in these quiet mountains. In addition to amazing hiking, backpacking mountain biking, road biking right from your Hipcamp site, with kayaking nearby. We are 10 minutes away from Cherry Plain State Park (which has a gorgeous lake and kid-friendly sandy beach), and even closer to the Taconic Crest Trail. Our location is nestled between the Taconics of New York, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Come share our paradise, bring your outdoor adventurer gear (you will be glad you did) and we will share our favorite local destinations with you. We ask that all hipcampers who are primary guests be 21 years of age or over. Children are welcome but we will not knowingly rent to anyone under 21 years of age. There is a $50 additional charge for garbage left at our farm including cigarette butts (we are a no smoking farm!), broken glass, bottles, cans, plastics, containers, bags and other trash. This is a pack in and pack out working farm not a party spot. Renting from us constitutes your reading of our rules attached to each property, your understanding and your agreement of our policies. Jules and Jerome met us at the tipi with their dogs and we immediately knew it would be a wonderful stay. The tipi itself was beautiful, with plenty of firewood for the woodstove, and the surrounding farmland was stunning, along with the goats, horses, and dogs. The outhouse nearby was lovely as well. Beautiful fields and forest trails on their land too. Highly recommend staying there!

A beautiful view and land that is lovingly tended by Abby. The setup was simple and perfect for some time to disconnect, with beautiful places to hike nearby. At night the coyotes howled and the barred owls hooted. In the day, butterflies danced. Abby was a gracious and kind host and the firepit was a bonus to everything else. Highly recommend and would stay there again.

This is my magical haven atop a hill! I absolutely adore the farm and have been in love with the charms, offerings and enchantments the land there offers. The farm is meticulously tended to by Abby and Kit who are nothing short of glorious humans and hosts. I have long dreamt to witness the night sky while atop the hill and the chance finally presented itself. My partner and I set campfire and laid in the grass to watch the stars, Milky Way and shooting stars. In the morning I woke up to the glow of dew and spent hours in adoration of all the plants growing on the field. The tent is spacious and cozy and we loved our night veiled in cricket and frog orchestra sounds.

Camping at the herb farm was beyond lovely. The tent at the top of the hill was both secluded and provided an incredible view. Abby was thoughtful and responsive, and brought us extra blankets because the night was colder than expected. Walking through the herb farm was gorgeous and we saw an owl at sunset! Can’t wait to come back to this magical spot.

I had the absolute most amazing magical time camping at Abby‘s herb farm. The surroundings and view were even more beautiful than I had imagined! Almost no human or machine noises, I would say it was really quiet but the insects and the birds were loud in the most wonderful way! The tent was adorable and very comfortable to stay in, we love the provided fire pit. Abby was very helpful and welcoming, her directions were very clear, and we will definitely be returning again in the future!

Julie and Jeromey were wonderful hosts. They explained everything we needed to know in the beginning. The tipi was cozy with the firepit inside to clear the bugs away. Many extra blankets to keep us warm as well! There is a hiking trail right behind the tipi, making a evening walk to watch the sunset an easy trip. The views of the hills and valleys were wonderful, along with the goats and horses.

A/C for the warm summer nights, an outdoor shower, beautiful fire ring, chairs, bbq with grilling utensils, etc. I could not speak more highly of the setup. We honestly weren't sure what to expect for our weekend in the Bell tent. Sure, the hipcamp posting looked beautiful but we were were skeptical about how private it'd actually be & with a rainy weekend forecast we began our trip hoping for the best but prepared for the worst. However, all of our concerns melted away as we pulled up to the bell tent. The location is absolutely stunning. Nestled in the lush mountain, we woke up to a view I continue to dream about. The tent itself is MASSIVE and sooo roomy. It's stocked with everything you could need including an incredibly comfortable queen bed, mini fridge, wood burning stove, all the necessities one could need while camping and beautiful string lights that provide the perfect ambient lighting. Despite the scattered showers, we spent our days hiking down the road in cherry plain state park and checking out some of the local farmers markets and antique shops in the neighboring towns of Berlin and New Lancaster. We even welcomed the rain at night as the sounds of drops hitting our tent was the perfect calming white noise to put us to sleep. So yeah - this place is amazing and we will DEFINITELY be coming back! OH! I almost forgot to mention how incredible the host, Tarah, is! She reached out ahead of time with additional info and provided an entire spreadsheet of things to do in the area. what's more, when she saw the weather forecast was bad for my dates she offered to push my weekend back a day since it was clearing up. <3

Such a great spot! We arrived very late at night and Zach stayed up to welcome us and show us to the spot. The set up was beautiful, the tent was perfect with blankets down and a mattress that was so cozy to sleep on. He also had a fire pit, stove top with a table, fresh water, a hammock and garbage can. The fact that he allowed the dogs to be off leash is always such a bonus! We had such a great time at this spot. If you do bring dogs with you - please be aware of the wildlife! My girl had a run in with a porcupine that did end up removing quills from her little face! We will definately be back again! ❤️
