We have a dirt driveway and while the parking area terrain is mostly flat, it may be a little unsteady for folks with gait issues. Both our road and driveway may become quite muddy especially during “mud season”, generally in the spring. Nestled at the bottom of Laraway Mountain, Maple Rock Hollow provides a tranquil place to stay while providing easy access to a myriad of outdoor activities. Enjoy Vermont’s world-class skiing; Smuggler’s Notch (20 minutes), Jay Peak (30 minutes) and Stowe (40 minutes) are all nearby! The property is just a short ride to the Vermont Long Trail and the Lamoille County Rail trail. It is surrounded by opportunities for skiing, other winter activities, hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, boating, fishing, numerous watering holes, zip lining, leaf peeping in season, exploring Vermont’s many covered bridges, access to nearby VAST and VASA trails, and more! Unwind from your day of adventure by enjoying the wooded setting by making smores at the fire pit under the starry sky and relax surrounded by nature, while sipping your drink of choice; perhaps a beer from one of the many local breweries Please be aware that given our rural location, our cell phone coverage is weak. Six miles west there is more reliable cell phone access. Future plans include reliable internet access. We strongly recommend you download a map of Vermont prior to your stay to ensure that you are able to find your way. The exterior is traditional "aircraft aluminum" and the interior has been restored for comfort and convenience...lots of storage drawers and cabinets. The interior features the original "Zolatone" paint. The space boasts a couch, which transforms into a full-sized bed. (Since it can be a little tricky to unfold, we'll have the bed set up and already made with cozy linens, down comforter and warm blankets for your arrival.) Above the bed area is a sliding cabinet where we keep books, maps, etc. You'll find books on local Vermont wildflowers, mushrooms, campfire recipes and outdoor survival. The kitchenette features a propane stove/oven, mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, and is fully equipped with pots and pans, bowls, colander, dishes, glasses and mugs, and utensils/cooking gadgets. There are many cabinets for storage. The eating area is a table for 2 with cushioned seats and throw pillows, overlooking the deck and woodland setting. (This table and seats can be turned into an additional bed for a third person, if requested.) There are 2 storage closets between the kitchen and bathroom, where you'll find: extra blankets, bath/hand towels and washcloths, hair dryer, first aid kit, extra toilet paper, paper towels and space to hang clothing. The bath area features a medicine cabinet for storage and small shower stall with curtain and bath mat. There is a heater at this end of the trailer which can be used in colder months to heat the entire trailer. We have removed the toilet from inside the trailer and built a composting outhouse (with a light) just steps away from the trailer. Lighting is provided for the walk to the outhouse at night. The Airstream is set up to be off-grid, powered by solar energy, with electricity as a backup. Internet and land line (from which you can make local calls) are part of modern conveniences. There is no TV - we recommend bringing a laptop if you'd like to stream movies via Wifi. Guests must carry in drinking water. There is a limited supply of water (about 110 gallons) for showering/dish washing, etc. Water is gravity-fed from a tank in the sawmill barn and we must re-fill depending on how quickly guests use water. Water to the Airstream is only available up until the first chance of freezing in the fall, it becomes available again after the winter thaw and is safe for showering, hand-washing and doing dishes/cleaning. We recommend that you conserve water as much as possible - quick showers and don't leave water running for extended periods. IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE: *Bring your own toiletries, though sample sizes are provided. *The mini-fridge is small, so limit your grocery load until you see the space. You can walk to Willey's around the corner for groceries or supplies. *Feel free to bring anything you might need for traditional camping - there's a good chance we already provide it, but best to be prepared! *Limit shower times to be sure you don't run out of hot water! (This is a camper after all and the hot water heater runs off of solar power.) Guest access When you enter the property, you'll see the giant barn that was once the old sawmill, along with a small red barn. Parking area is noted with signs. A short walk past the barn will bring you to the Airstream. The property is 8 wooded acres, separated by a brook that runs through it. Guests are conveniently close to the center of Greensboro, yet you'll feel like you're a world away when in the Airstream. A walk through the woods will lead you to openings where you can sit by the brook and enjoy the peace and solitude. In the woodland areas, you can no longer hear the sounds of society. Willey's Store is just minutes from the property, and has just about everything you could imagine...food, a fabulous selection of beer/wine, clothing and shoes, housewares and hardware. The town of Greensboro also boasts an art gallery, glass/pottery artisans, library, and the Highland Art Center, which is a cultural arts campus (and home of the Hardwick Street Cafe). The town of Hardwick is a 10 minute drive from the center of town with lots of restaurants to choose from for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The quaint town also has multiple grocery stores and shops. Fallingwater is located just a few miles from Hill Farmstead Brewery, voted Best Brewery in the world many years running - a local must-visit! Seasonal outdoor activities in the area are endless. Greensboro has it's own set of cross-country ski trails and is just 15 minutes from the Craftsbury Outdoor Center (hundreds of miles of pristine cross-country skiing and sculling). We're just minutes from Caspian Lake, where you can swim from the public beach, kayak, canoe, SUP and more. We're about 45 minutes from Stowe, Burke Mountain and Jay Peak for downhill skiing. Easy to strenuous hiking can be found all around the area - so much to do within 30 minutes or more of Greensboro. Lake Willoughby (a truly otherworldly place) is about 35 minutes away. Fall foliage season is unbelievably gorgeous, especially when viewed from high within the mountains! Other things to note Seasonal Information: In warmer months, you can get here easily in any vehicle. In snowy weather, we highly recommend 4WD or AWD vehicles for getting around this area - there are many secondary roads with packed snow/sand in winter, and these roads can be difficult to navigate without snow tires or 4WD. In winter months, it snows here almost every day - sometimes just a flurry and sometimes a few inches or more. Guests are expected to do some light shoveling if necessary, around the trailer and their own vehicles. Snow boots and proper outerwear are a must!

It has a full bathroom, with a single-person shower, sink, and toilet. There is a hidden privacy curtain for the bathroom. Stocked with abundant linens for your use. It has a full kitchen, with a sink, propane gas stove & oven, small propane-run fridge with a mini freezer. Fully stocked with glassware, dishes, cutlery, pots & pans. Some basic cooking necessities and camping cookbooks are provided for your stay. A French Press, Keurig, Pour-over, and Tea Kettle are also included. The camper will be stocked with local Coffee & assorted Teas. Heater & hot water are solar powered. A table pulls out from next to the couch for dining. The original Radio is still in great working shape, and provides surround sound music. We also have added a record player with many records options to choose from. A variety of books and board games for your enjoyment as well. No wifi, but cell service should be adequate. [Updated Note: We have Verizon and have great service at camp. Guests with AT&T and T-Mobile have reported spotty service]. We recommend downloading our check-in instructions in advance, should service be spotty as you arrive at camp. PET POLICY: Pets are allowed at no additional fee. You are required to use the towels provided to clean any muddy paws before they enter the camper. You must be in control of your pet on the property, do not let them into the neighbors property, and please know that dogs often go up and down the road for UNleashed walks as there are acres of trails nearby, keep that in mind for your own pet. You cannot leave your pet in the airstream unattended on hot days. There is NO a/c and the airstream heats up quick in warmer weather. You are responsible to replace or pay for any ripped fabric or destroyed items caused by your pet. You only need to clean up after your pet if they poop where people could walk in it.

A short drive will bring you to Willoughby Lake, Kingdom Trails, and Burke Mt. We will Be Closing for the season on the 14th of November 2024. You can stroll through the meadow paths, venture on a woodland hike, walk, run, or bike on/off the property. The 14X16 wall tent comfortably sleeps 4 with a double bed, twin daybed, and twin pull-out mattress. Please bring your own bedding and pillows. Lake Iroquois is 200 yards from the site with access to the beach and boat launch one mile down the road. Lake Champlain is 15 miles to the west from us with varied access to swimming, boating, and water sports. Bikers can enjoy dirt road rides, flow trails, single track, and endless paved roads in Hinesburg and near-by towns. Hikers can hit the hills nearby or further away. Camels Hump State Park and access to the Long Trail is just 15 miles away. Need a city fix? Burlington is also 15 miles away and offers shopping, dining, a lively waterfront, music, the arts and more. Don't want to go far away? We make 7 types of cheeses:Chevre, mozzarella, feta, queso blanco, apple wood smoked queso blanco, type of Manchego, and a ripened cheese.Our goal is to preserve and protect the land while using organic principles to produce products for local consumption and enjoyment. Our Chèvre is a fresh, smooth creamy goats spread, with a little bit of tang with hints of berry bushes and clover. Great for appetizers, to mix with herbs, spread on toast with butter, to add to scramble eggs and much more!Our queso blanco is spanish for white cheese, latin america specialty. This cheese is a firm cheese, with a fresh mildly sweet flavor. Great for cooking! Does not melt while fried or grilled! Take on the flavor of the food and spices in a recipe!Our Apple wood smoked queso blanco is spanish for white cheese and is marinated in olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt. Great for cooking, for appetizers and for salads.Our Feta is strongly flavored salted cheese, originated in Greece. Often crumbled in little pieces on salads or tacos.Our goat Mozzarella is a firm style cheese with with a slight tang. Butterbox Barn

Butterbox Barn is located in East Johnson, VT, across the road from the Gihon River. The neighborhood was once home to a small general store (now a home) and a number of mills. One former mill (also now a home) sits across the street in the middle of the river, and other small remnants of mills can be found. There is a covered bridge just down the road with good fishing, and people kayak the river in the spring. Learn more about this land: Sleep in a lovely old barn! The barn is located behind the house on a quiet road on the outskirts of Johnson. It has two stories with two full beds (bedding included). Downstairs has a kitchenette with a stovetop, oven, sink, fridge, and cookware; shower with hot water and toilet. The Gihon River is across the street and the covered bridge is a short walk. The barn has been made into a cozy and habitable space, but it is not insulated and there is no heat. There are fans to use when it's hot and blankets when it's cool. It is dry, with real beds, a bathroom, and space to cook. Please look at the photos and note you do need to go under a beam to get to the beds. Way better than camping! 10 minute walk to town with groceries, coffee, and the Vermont Studio Center. 20 minutes to Stowe. One hour to Burlington.45 minutes to Hill Farmstead Brewery.The Rail Trail is a five minute bike ride away and the Long Trail runs through town. Will pick up from the Long Trail!
