We practice regenerative agriculture, carbon farming, and many other environmentally sustainable practices. Main House Front Porch The front porch of the main house has continued to be a wonderful gathering place with outstanding sunset views and surrounding terraced gardens with blossoms and berries that attract hummingbirds and bees. We serve meals from the adjoining big kitchen, and these can be enjoyed on the porch or taken on trays to the nearby Plum Grove, other outdoor settings. The porch is a great place to meet with others or enjoy a place to sit and read. There is also a good internet connection on the porch and a place to charge devices. We can give further directions and information about the region when you are here. Our stays range from basic tent sites to Yurts and Canvas Tents. We have something for everyone. We have four yurts nestled on a knoll among maples, beeches, balsam, and other trees. They each are positioned for a sense of privacy from the others and have little paths connecting them. They all are well loved and humble, beautiful, light filled circular spaces with a round dome skylight, lattice siding, windows with screens for summer use and in winter extra insulation provided by window quilts. Each yurt has a wood stove for colder weather. The yurts are furnished simply with various configurations of single and double beds, tables, chairs, shelving, and sheepskins or other floor rugs. At night a few of the paths are lit with solar lamps, so it is wise to bring a flashlight/headlamp as well. Beeswax candles provide inside night lighting. Some of the yurts have string, solar lights around the inside of the yurt walls. We have 5 bell tents that are lovely, roundish shaped tents with a peak. Four of them are smaller, one-person tents, and one is larger for a couple or 2 people. We provide amattress and pillow with organic bedding and a sheepskin rug, and a simple storage crate/table. It’s a good idea to bring a sleeping bag for extra warmth, especially in the potentially colder shoulder seasons in May and in September. If you have a tent, insulated ground mat, and sleeping gear, we have many inspiring sites in the surrounding forest glades, meadows, and fields. Those who choose to camp have access to outdoor composting toilets, a hot water outside faucet for bucket bathing, and outdoor shower available in the warmer seasons. Camping requires a certain hardiness and adequate gear. Weather during the growing season (May – October) in the mountains of Vermont is unpredictable. Temperatures range from freezing temperatures at night in the spring and fall to gloriously warm days and even hot days.

Our Regenerative Herb Farm sits on 15-acres of rolling hills full of wildflowers and gardens. We owned an ecological landscape design/build company for 15 years so the gardens, meadows, woodlands and trails are wild with biodiversity and color. The farm is a certified Bee Friendly Farm through the Pollinator Partnership. We give guided tours weekly upon request and discuss the ecological restoration efforts that are underway as well as our 'Seed to Soap' project that is Farm Craft VT. Metta Earth Institute (MEI) is a non-profit educational retreat center in Lincoln, Vermont. With 158 beautiful acres, we are nestled in a bowl of mountains with stunning mountain views in all directions. Meadows, pastureland, and horticultural fields are interspersed with hardwood and evergreen forest, old orchards, stonewalls, seasonal streams, and an enormous variety of wildlife habitat. Walking and hiking places abound, and a magnificent, pure river with clear pools and waterfalls is just a few minutes’ walk down the road. MEI is based on a small-scale diversified, organic, and biodynamically oriented farm with an acre-sized retreat garden and other herb and flower gardens, and 2 food producing greenhouses. We practice regenerative agriculture, carbon farming, and many other environmentally sustainable practices. Main House Front Porch The front porch of the main house has continued to be a wonderful gathering place with outstanding sunset views and surrounding terraced gardens with blossoms and berries that attract hummingbirds and bees. We serve meals from the adjoining big kitchen, and these can be enjoyed on the porch or taken on trays to the nearby Plum Grove, other outdoor settings. The porch is a great place to meet with others or enjoy a place to sit and read. There is also a good internet connection on the porch and a place to charge devices. You are welcome to walk anywhere on Metta Earth land. Or you may want to walk on the surrounding dirt roads, all with very minimal cars and great mountain views or along the river. We can give further directions and information about the region when you are here. Our stays range from basic tent sites to Yurts and Canvas Tents. We have something for everyone. We have four yurts nestled on a knoll among maples, beeches, balsam, and other trees. They each are positioned for a sense of privacy from the others and have little paths connecting them. They all are well loved and humble, beautiful, light filled circular spaces with a round dome skylight, lattice siding, windows with screens for summer use and in winter extra insulation provided by window quilts. Each yurt has a wood stove for colder weather. The yurts are furnished simply with various configurations of single and double beds, tables, chairs, shelving, and sheepskins or other floor rugs. At night a few of the paths are lit with solar lamps, so it is wise to bring a flashlight/headlamp as well. Beeswax candles provide inside night lighting. Some of the yurts have string, solar lights around the inside of the yurt walls. We have 5 bell tents that are lovely, roundish shaped tents with a peak. Four of them are smaller, one-person tents, and one is larger for a couple or 2 people. We provide amattress and pillow with organic bedding and a sheepskin rug, and a simple storage crate/table. It’s a good idea to bring a sleeping bag for extra warmth, especially in the potentially colder shoulder seasons in May and in September. If you have a tent, insulated ground mat, and sleeping gear, we have many inspiring sites in the surrounding forest glades, meadows, and fields. Those who choose to camp have access to outdoor composting toilets, a hot water outside faucet for bucket bathing, and outdoor shower available in the warmer seasons. Camping requires a certain hardiness and adequate gear. Weather during the growing season (May – October) in the mountains of Vermont is unpredictable. Temperatures range from freezing temperatures at night in the spring and fall to gloriously warm days and even hot days.

Or, access the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail (93+ miles of non-motorized riding/walking on a converted and maintained railway bed). FISHING/HUNTING In the mountains we have streams, brooks, and rivers. There are many hotspots for fishing—lots of brook trout! No matter the rod you use, there are many places to try your skills. A fishing/hunting license is needed. CANOE, KAYAK, TUBE Got your own? Bring it! The Lamoille River is a few miles away and a favorite for water lovers. Don't have one, there is a great rental place down the road where you can take one out for the day. Looking for another option to the river? The Belvidere Pond is down the road and offers a peaceful place to paddle around surrounded by the mountains. MAPLE SYRUP/SUGARBUSH Want to learn about the maple sugaring process? We are always happy to give you a tour of our sugarhouse and the woods, and explain how we turn the tree sap into yummy Maple Syrup. (We only boil January-early April.) We do have this year's crop bottled and available for sale! Buy one for morning pancakes, to add to your morning coffee, or to take home! WILDLIFE/BERRIES/MUSHROOMS/FIDDLEHEADS Depending on the time of the year, you can find wild raspberries, blackberries, mushrooms, and fiddleheads. (Please do not pick or eat something if you don't know if it is poisonous!) And, wildlife are around. Look for tracks in the soil, signs they have been there, or if you are really quiet (usually in the early morning or at dusk) you might see deer, geese, or wild turkeys! OTHER ACTIVITIES - Smugglers Notch is a quick drive (South) - Jay Peak is a quick drive (North) - Disc Golf, Ropes Course, Golf, and more. - Access local eateries like the Burger Barn - a local favorite, grap a yummy sandwich or pizza at the Cupboard. - Explore local breweries and distilleries - Forgot something? There are small groceries, a couple of hardware stores, gas stations, etc within a quick drive. Camp sites include flat area, fire ring. Electricity and water at 2 sites. 1 site has a poured concrete pad -- perfect for a camper/RV. The other sites (grassy) can accomodate a camper/RV or tents. Please be prepared to provide your own camping toilet and pack out your trash. If you bring your dog(s), please clean up after them and have "control" as the dirt road is fully in view of the sites. (ATVs (on the trail) and a few vehicles do use the road.) Firewood for firepits available for sale.

Adjacent to the Missisquoi Recreation Trail, our site offers easy access to scenic biking and hiking, stretching 10 miles north to the Canadian border and 20 miles west to St.Albans, a great town on Lake Champlain. Due to our location on the river, you will undoubtedly see beavers, geese, ducks, blue heron and other waterfowl. If you're lucky, you might spy the family of river otters, a deer, turtles, and wild turkeys. The Enosburg Golf Course is 5 minutes away. Weekend Trip to Rooted Acres Farm

We had such a lovely stay here! The host was incredibly responsive to all our questions, and the cabin was exactly what we were looking for. It came with a portable heater inside that kept us warm at night (just remember to turn on the gas outside first!). Without proper winter clothing, it might be a bit chilly to stay here during the colder months, but we went toward the end of October and it was still perfect! And the hot tub!! Such a clever and wonderful addition! Just a heads up: you’ll need to build a strong fire to get it hot within about 3 hours, and you’ll likely want to make two fires - one for the tub and another to sit back and enjoy. Be sure to bring lanterns, as it gets dark pretty quickly once the sun sets. Even though we had cloudy skies, we could tell that on a clear night the stargazing would be incredible. The cabin is well-equipped with dishes and running water for light cooking, brushing teeth, etc. There’s also a small convenience store about 8 minutes away on the main road. Overall, we would highly recommend this place. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be returning!

Fairyhouse is cute and very sturdy. Enjoyed my stay. I would suggest insulating it. Wood burning stove worked great, put off decent heat. Has a composting toilet behind it. If you love dogs there are a couple on premises.

3 nights at Zen Cabin

This was my second stay at the Zen Cabin. I just love the peace that surrounds the whole property. The cabin is very comfortable and there's a nice propane stove to keep it warm. I can't say enough about how good the well water is. For me, this is the perfect place to disconnect with the chaos of the world and connect with nature. Beautiful!

HOWL is at the bas of Camel's Hump! It's an easy drive to the trailhead and one heck of a hike up. Totally worth it! There are equally cozy or adventurous options all around HOWL.

Weekend Trip to Hand’s Cove Cottages

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful lake view cabin! The photos online truly don't do it justice—the place is even more stunning in person. The cabin was incredibly cozy, relaxing, and peaceful, with all the amenities you could ask for. The mornings were especially great, waking up to the beautiful lake views. We spent two nights here and every moment was perfect. The host was so friendly and welcoming, making our experience even better. As the first guests, we felt honored to be part of this gem's story. Ken hosts one of the most incredible campsites I’ve had the pleasure of staying at, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s one of the kindest souls I’ve met too! Make sure to bring a camera when you visit, the view is not something you’ll want to forget, nor the beautiful sites around the campground. This is a must-stay, and I won’t be surprised if Ken ends up being booked year-round!!! (Also, we recommend a car with higher suspension and four wheel drive as to make the trip up to the lean-to easier!) Thanks Ken :)

Weekend Trip to Broadfork Farmstead

I really enjoyed staying on the bus—it was such a unique experience! I was grateful it was available for a last-minute booking that same night. Carol’s communication and responsiveness were excellent, making check-in smooth even with my late-night arrival. The bus itself was cozy and charming, set right on the farm with a clean outhouse just steps away, equipped with a motion light for nighttime use. Inside, the space was thoughtfully arranged with a small table, chairs, two sofa beds, and foldable mattresses. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and each window had blinds to block out light. It was a cold night, but I came prepared with sleeping bags, extra blankets, and heating pads. Carol also offers a space heater as an add-on, which I’d recommend during cooler seasons! A pleasant surprise was the power bar which was so useful for charging my devices and the bus also had reliable Wi-Fi! I only stayed one night but wish I’d had more time to explore the farm, there were adorable animals on my way out! I also wish I’d tried the breakfast add-ons as they looked delicious. Overall, it was a memorable stay that I’d definitely recommend. I got to tell all my friends that I slept on a bus and had a great story to tell! Thanks Carol :)

1 night at Camp Way Wild

Ken’s site is just perfect. To die for view. Very nice lean to with a hammock where we stood our tent. Clear instructions. He sent a map and called to make sure we will settle good. You need a four wheel vehicle to get close to the lean to. Otherwise, there’s a nice campsite near the bathhouse as well. We loved our stay here. Felt super safe. And the outhouse is very accessible too if you need to go in the middle of the night. Thank you, Ken!

2 nights at Broadfork Farmstead

I had a wonderful two night stay on The Bus. My friend joined me the first night, but had to get back to work, so my second night was solo. We both found the accommodation funky and comfortable. As a farm girl, myself, I always love to be around piglets, chickens, dogs, cows… Carol was a very warm, gracious hostess, eager to share her insights on local attractions. Her breakfasts and cheese plate displayed impressive attention to detail, using superb local ingredients and so artfully arranged, include cloth napkins tucked into baskets. I hope I am able to return next year, and have already recommended her place and the area to friends looking for a satisfying roaming destination.

Excellent stay! Beautiful spot, nice and quiet. We spent a decent amount of time just reading books with the windows open. Close to everything. Fire pit was nice, also had a charcoal grill you could use. Would love to stay again, highly recommend!

The spot was as describe. The bed is perfect! It was quiet and peaceful. I would definetivly go back another time. Perfect spot for bikepacking near town so the grocery and restaurant are near by thé Missisiquoi rail trail.

The short bus was super cozy and we were warm with just sheets and a couple blankets we brought, no heater, on a night it probably got down into the low 40’s. The farm animals were a delight and we got to meet the piglets with Carol. Also love the running water/sink right outside the bus. Great spot!

2 nights at The Fairy House

The camp site was well kept and did a great job keeping us warm on a crisp fall night thanks to the furnace. There is a private entrance to the site and it felt perfect for my dog to be able to roam around. Only complaint was the chickens calling at 5 AM inviting my dog to join in, but that's all part of being near a farm. The host was very responsive and a good communicator!
