Hello, welcome to Know Town located amidst the close knit hills of central Vermont and nestled in the heart of the Stony Brook watershed in the town of Stockbridge. We have just over 40 acres of diverse natural beauty to explore and bask in, which includes a beautiful stretch of the brook with multiple dunking spots, as well as a larger swimming hole. In addition to Know Town's own outdoor activities, there are plenty of hiking trails and big river swimming holes located nearby. Currently, we offer three options for your overnight stays, as we just added The Swimming Hole site. This new site is very special and is sure to be a place that you will want to return to. Our Geodesic dome is the epitome of glamping with the comforts of home, but still integrated into the natural surroundings. Located right on the brook with a private fire pit and outdoor dining set up. There is plenty of room for games in the large field and a separate camp spot overlooking a little water fall and one of our swimming holes. For those who enjoy car camping we have the Apple tree camp site. Located right on the brook with a big rock for sunbathing and a spacious area for tents and rooftop car campers. There are a couple of apple trees to relax in the shade under and a large picnic table and fire pit. Know Town welcomes well mannered dogs (2 per site). We are 420 friendly and geared towards hosting those interested in arts, music, meditation, and ecology. There is virtually no light pollution which makes for optimal stargazing. Also, it should be noted that there is currently no Wi-Fi or cell service. Please be aware that Vermont prohibits out-of-state Firewood. We sell firewood for dome and campfires, and guests are welcome to scavenge the plethora of downed dead wood on the property.

Bring it! The Lamoille River is a few miles away and a favorite for water lovers. Don't have one, there is a great rental place down the road where you can take one out for the day. Looking for another option to the river? The Belvidere Pond is down the road and offers a peaceful place to paddle around surrounded by the mountains. MAPLE SYRUP/SUGARBUSH Want to learn about the maple sugaring process? We are always happy to give you a tour of our sugarhouse and the woods, and explain how we turn the tree sap into yummy Maple Syrup. (We only boil January-early April.) We do have this year's crop bottled and available for sale! Buy one for morning pancakes, to add to your morning coffee, or to take home! WILDLIFE/BERRIES/MUSHROOMS/FIDDLEHEADS Depending on the time of the year, you can find wild raspberries, blackberries, mushrooms, and fiddleheads. (Please do not pick or eat something if you don't know if it is poisonous!) And, wildlife are around. Look for tracks in the soil, signs they have been there, or if you are really quiet (usually in the early morning or at dusk) you might see deer, geese, or wild turkeys! This off-the-grid homestead sits on a quiet dirt road just outside the quaint village of Chester. Spread across 28 acres, the property features streams and trails to explore. The 8' x 14' Studio, complete with an accessible entry ramp, offers an elevated porch overlooking the garden. New this year are Adirondack chairs, a covered outdoor kitchen with table, grill and two-burner camp stove as well as a fire pit. Guests also have access to an accessible bathroom with a clawfoot tub located in the main house, about 250 feet from the Studio. An outdoor shower attached to the main house is also available. A wood-fired barrel sauna can be reserved for an additional charge. Frank, Julie, and their very chill black Lab, Skye (who roams off-leash), welcome all visitors, from local to international, LGBTQ+, and those of all abilities. Chester itself offers a small grocery store, convenience store, a great coffee/sandwich shop, wine store, and several restaurants. Hiking trails are available both on the property and in the village, while Okemo Mountain, Mount Ascutney, and Lowell Lake State Park are just 20 minutes away. The site is located on a lovely mountain brook in Huntington. The small 8' x 8' cabin includes a queen bed with a mattress protector (you provide your own linens, blankets, and pillows), a small wood stove, and a bedside table. The large windows overlook the falls, and you’ll fall asleep to the sound of the waterfalls and brook. There are drawers for storage under the bed. The site is accessed by a gravel driveway off a Class 4 road, and you can park close to the site. In winter, when there is snow on the ground, the Class 4 road isn’t plowed past the bridge, so you’ll need to walk in—about 50 yards from the parking area. Firewood is provided for the wood stove. The site is near our home (about 100 meters away through the woods). It’s within a short drive or bike ride to some of the best mountain biking and hiking (Camel’s Hump, Mount Abe) and cross-country skiing (Sleepy Hollow, Camel’s Hump Nordic, Catamount Trail) in Vermont. We are 15 minutes from Richmond and Hinesburg, 20 minutes from Mad River Glen, and just a half hour from Burlington. The site does get cell reception, but the cabin has no electricity or other facilities, so all waste must be packed out. We provide a bucket commode, but please bring your own trash bags to pack out all waste.

We welcome well-mannered dogs on the property being mindful that it is located on a small hill overlooking our family home (touch_of_grey on Instagram) which houses wood chickens (left of shed stay), two growing kiddos, two working-from-home adults, and as of 2026, 2 White German Shepard/Great Pyrenees dogs (Bos and Ley who are 2 years old and learning), a chair lounging goat (Buttercup), a goose (the JuJu, good and bad - they can be, so best to be on guard), and many ducks and chickens. The wildflowers are in bloom for summer, and the song birds are singing. We invite you to join us in the woods! We are on Main Rd. (VT Route 8) and the property has a driveway entrance, making it easy to leave and explore the nearby areas of: South to Massachusetts: North Adams, MA (10 mins), which is home to Mass MoCA - the largest contemporary art museum in the country, and many wonderful spots to explore for shopping and dining. Williamstown, MA (20 mins), offers tons of hiking trails and The Clark museum. Staying in VT: Readsboro, VT (10 mins), has an out-of-this-world general store with food you don't expect to find in the woods; Readsboro General Store is a must-see, and sandwiches/salads you'll come back for! Readsboro Inn is the perfect place for an easy drive for drinks, a burger, or pizza, if you please! Wilmington, VT (20 mins), offers water activities, such as boating, swimming, and fishing! There are also hiking trails, like Mt. Olga in Molly State Park, and shopping on Main Street, flea market weekends, breweries, and fine dining can be found nearby. Snow Republic Brewery is a vibe worth basking in, in Dover, VT, north of Wilmington towards Mount Snow, where summer activities abound!

Weekend Trip to Ryegate Away Cabins

We had a wonderful stay at this pet‑friendly cabin overlooking the Connecticut River. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and thoughtfully cared for. The cabin itself is just as listed; impeccably clean, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. Jessica, the host, was kind and accommodating throughout our stay. We brought both our cat and dog, and the space worked perfectly for all of us. Jessica provided an electric heater in anticipation of a chilly night, but we didn’t end up needing it—the cabin is well insulated and stayed warm on its own. The outhouse is exactly what you’d expect, but it was clean, well maintained, and easy to use. There were lots of small, well‑considered amenities that made the stay even nicer, and we really appreciated the care that went into creating a welcoming space. We would absolutely recommend this spot and would happily stay again.

Truly one of a kind place. A place to commune with the water and the Vermont landscape. Great base for exploring VT and taking some time to recharge. Chapin is thorough and straightforward with what to expect and what you might need. The wood fired tub is quintessential paired with the cold mountain brook. The tent is simple but robust and cozy to sleep in. Miss it already.

Chapin was very responsive and made everything very easy. The site was absolutely beautiful. Hanging out in the hammocks at the bottom of the hill next to the brook with the fire going can't be beat. Highly recommend checking this place out if you love experiencing the peace and awe of the green mountains as much as I do!

Everything went well, Stephanie was there to help whenever needed, accommodations were everything you need & nothing you don't. It's "glamping" so you need your warm sleeping gear and bring stove, pots & cooking supplies. Views were great, cabin was great for two, need to find room for cots with four folks, but do-able. Great experience overall.

4 nights at Greenhope Lookout Cabin

Sallie’s property is a perfect rustic getaway! The cabin is nicely tucked away off the main road, overlooking a beautiful pond with mountains in the background. The fire ring, chairs, and picnic table were welcome amenities, and the cabin itself was cute and cozy. Beds for three inside, and we had enough room to throw a small cot down for our fourth person. Sallie was extremely welcoming and warm, and her animals were much the same. Super friendly/happy pack of 4 dogs, and a beautiful pair of horses! The location is perfect, too. Quick drive into town for groceries and cell service, and also not too far from Willoughby Lake. We enjoyed day trips to Mount Pisgah, Clyde River Recreation, and Willoughby Lake itself! I couldn’t recommend a stay here enough—just make sure you’re comfy amongst nature! The cabin sits in a beautiful patch of forest, and various peaceful critters call the trees and the pond home. Weekend Trip to The Hollow at Dynamite Falls

My husband and I had a wonderful time staying at this site! The layout was beautiful. The wood-fired hot tub was the highlight for us, but our two goldens would probably say their’s was the river! It was absolutely beautiful and we couldn’t get them out of it the whole time we were there! We got to meet Chapin, his wife, and a couple of their friends. They were so warm and welcoming. Our goldens even got to have a play session with Chapin’s dog, which they loved! We highly recommend this place!

Weekend Trip to Touch Of Grey Stays

Our stay at Touch of Grey Stays was absolutely AMAZING! 🌲🏕️✨ The hosts were some of the kindest and most welcoming people we have ever met. They truly went above and beyond for us. ❤️ We HAVE to mention the campfire! 🔥 We gave them such short notice and asked if they could set one up, and they STILL made it happen! They put together a beautiful fire ring right next to the tiny home and gave us plenty of firewood. Sitting by the fire under those beautiful stars was a highlight of our weekend. 🌌🔥 We could even see the Milky Way faintly, which was crazy and cool! The tiny home was SO cute, cozy, and honestly felt like a hotel experience, but BETTER because you have your own private space surrounded by nature. 🌲🏡 Being able to park right next to it with our own private driveway was so convenient. They had Wi-Fi, a mini fridge, toaster oven, hot plate, cooking pot, utensils, wine glasses, toothbrush and toothpaste, binoculars, dog treats, and a water bowl! They thought of everything. The wood stove kept us extremely warm, even with all the windows open! 🔥 We also loved meeting their amazing animals, especially their sweet dogs, chickens, awesome goat, and crazy roosters with their ninja moves! 😂🐐🐓 They even gave us farm-fresh eggs! This was our first Hipcamp experience and the BEST vacation weekend ever! 🏕️🌲 If you love nature, privacy, animals, cozy spaces, and campfires, you will LOVE this place. Exactly what we needed, and more. Ben and Loana's hospitality was above and beyond what we had expected. Fernando's Cabin was exactly as described. Moving over to The Barn left us speechless. The Barn had so much charm; from the chef's kitchen to the unique bedroom, the classic barn-styel bathroom, and outdoor space. We look forward to planning a return trip!

Lovely location! Clear water, soft pine trails, spacious and clean accommodations. Everything was so thoughtfully cared for. Very inspiring and settling. One recommendation: the tent is dark, even in the daytime, and gets darker earlier because of the way it is situated on the slope, so be sure to bring sufficient lighting. Thanks to Chapin for a memorable experience.

1 night at Willoughby Farm Animal Rescue

Scott & his furry family were a pleasure to visit. I stayed in the Greenhouse, the view of the moon & rain on the roof in the morning was a much needed peaceful retreat. You must love animals of all kind to appreciate the vibe here, I love what Scitt is doing to make a difference in all the lives of theses precious animals ❤️

Weekend Trip to The Hollow at Dynamite Falls

We hiked! We hot tubbed! We ziplined! Cold plunged in the waterfall on the mountain side! Explored the whole entire brook. Cooked all meals on the open fire, slept beautifully in the queen sized bed. The hike to the tent was very steep, pack a little lighter than we did lol 🤪 so much fun! Once in a lifetime kind of stuff ❤️❤️

4 nights at Grateful Acres Vermont

It’s nice and secluded. Was perfect for our two dogs. The cabin was clean and they supplied us with a lantern which came in handy in the cabin. The outhouse was clean too. The hosts answered our questions and was there if we needed anything. We were there for 5 days and the no showers were a little inconvenient, but we found public showers that were a half hour drive and stopped there after going out on hikes. Overall it was a perfect “off grid” vacation.

Weekend Trip to Missisquoi Magic

It was convenient to have the canvas tent, bed and outdoor covered dining area ready to go! We fished, played frisbee by the camp fire and took a ride on the conveniently located Rail Trail just a short distance away.
