The Marina Bar and Restaurant is a 2 mile hike or bike ride from the camp site (via the West River Trail) and is a fun way to see the beauty of Vermont and partake in some excellent indoor/outdoor dining with views of the water. Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders. The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet. There are currently 3 camp sites in the Pine Forest. The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders. I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and Ido my best to work with people to accommodate any needs. Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. There is plenty of felled wood all around as the property is surrounded by a dense forest and guests are welcome to gather that to supplement fire making. In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe. Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far. All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too! Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do. For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail. The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience. Very quiet area with lots of wildlife and ponds and disc golf. Very quiet with great swimming and lots of hikes right from your sites. 2 of the Brookside Sites (Wishbone Left and Right) are close by (2.7 miles) where we have another 1/2 mile of river frontage and can handle bigger groups as Conservation land on Sunrise Farm only allows 4 campers per site. Sunrise Farm Sites 1 and 2 have oodles of space and Spectacular 50 mile views of Mount Monadnock with no house lights out there in the evening except the party string lights we provide. Site 1 (with entrance 70 yards south of the farmhouse) is best for camping in with up to 20 foot trailers or multiple tents …on the large flat spaces in the 25 acre field to choose from. Great Well water available near farmhouse. Biodegradable soaps Only if used in the ponds. Double Olympic sized Swim Pond we stock with Rainbow Trout to keep clear. We have been advised Not to allow imported firewood (can import Wood Beetle dangerous for our forest). - PLEASE use the Firewood bundle tubs we provide ($12.50) - pick up at the farmhouse or pull wood from the woods (and make it safer for use). Beautiful and plenty of wildlife nearby... as well as Outhouses are marked on Map we provide with solar lights marking them at night. Do Not Leave food out when camping or away from site. Bears are rarely seen but it is wild country. Sites have locking garbage lids. Unique and lovely as well as being next to trails and roads to miles of remote spots with very few if any ... people. In Winter we request only AWD vehicles go down to this site or park up by farmhouse and hike in so you can easily get out. When wet park up by the road if you have 2 wheel drive. Always WISE to arrive When LIGHT out as we do not live at the site and are not able to show guests to their sites as a result.

We invite you to come camp on 77 acres of varied land. Woods, fields, swimming pond, hiking trails, and possibly even other campers, although it's very private if that's how you'd like it. You may be perfectly content staying put, but if you seek small town offerings, Chatham (15 minutes away) offers restaurants, art galleries, a brewery, movie theatre, two bakeries, and some shops. We are half an hour from Hudson, and in the midst of plentiful Berkshire and Hudson Valley hiking, biking, antiquing, and sightseeing opportunities. Enjoy the big view from the highest corner of the big field. This is a sweet little campsite set in a birch grove with a view to the Catskills, and lots of wildlife. Two minute walk from your car, and a five minute walk to a swimming pond and a composting toilet outhouse. Near Chatham, New York where there is a brewery, cheese shop, bakery, restaurants, and a movie theatre. We are half an hour from Hudson, and in the midst of plentiful Berkshire and Hudson Valley hiking, biking and sightseeing opportunities. Early check-in and late check-out are often fine; just ask. *Special note for winter campers: depending on both snowfall and what you are driving, the parking locations may change. If we can, we will be happy to either ferry you via our 4WD, or help you carry your stuff in. The winter is really fun and beautiful. It's really nice here and we're happy to share it. Learn more about this land:Secluded cabin within walking distance to the Haystack Mtn. hike with 360° views (3 miles round trip, cabin to summit and back). Cabin has a 2-burner propane stove and fully stocked kitchen (pots, utensils, etc). No running water or electricity, but cabin is stocked with 7 gallons of drinking water, plus a rain barrel for wash water. Separate outhouse with a sawdust bucket toilet and bucket shower. 3 nights at Fall Water Farm

This little cabin was a nice retreat away from home for a few days. Having bedding provided was a nice touch and the bed is very comfortable. The parking is not far from the cabin (maybe 50-100ft) and the driveway was even plowed very shortly after a few inches of snow fell during my stay. There’s a fair amount of yard space available, great for playing in the snow this time of year, and the steam right outside the cabin door is a pretty sight and sound every time you exit. This cabin is also perfect for anyone who doesn’t like dealing with a wood stove to keep warm, instead a gas radiator controlled by a digital thermostat keeps the cabin warm exactly how you like it, a very surprising but much appreciated bonus I found out after arriving. Overall, this cabin was fantastic, warm, and cozy, and I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for somewhat easy cabin camping in the winter.

Weekend Trip to Bent Apple Farm

Perfect snow get away. Wood burning stove and heater kept us warm, even with just one. Enjoyed listening and looking through the vinyls. Loved the hot tub after a long day of hiking and the comfy bed. The cabin was cute and felt very lived in. It was a nice surprise to see a journal of how many people stayed there, especially during Covid, very lovely notes people left! Only down side - couldn’t stop sneezing at times, lots of dust in the crevices of the wood floor and fabric. Also wish there was a bit more privacy at the door and hot tub, could see the guest next door. Overall definitely would recommend and stay again!

Weekend Trip to Salamander Hollow Healing Habitat

This was my second time staying at Mary's marvelous Kula Bata Tiny Cabin. It is such a peaceful palace that makes it easy to unplug and recharge, and the infrared sauna is such a treat! Mary is always so kind, attentive and responsive to any questions or concerns that arose before or during our stay. I cannot wait to return again in the near future!

Gorgeous location! What a cool spot. Directions brought us right up the road that runs between the two main houses- Your classic white antique farmhouse on the left & the newer house on the right. Just past the house & down around back, we loaded up 2 big bins of firewood & headed down the hill to the campsite entrance on the right. There are 2 ponds along the road where RV's & vans can park, no fire pits, & kind of out in the open for us. The lower pond & camp site was lovely, but little tricky to get our little schoolie parked in close to the fire pit area, plus it was a bit wet & mushy, (understandably, in late November) so we decided to walk down & see if there was a dryer option. We found a few more drive-in campsites each with picnic tables, fire pits, a little outhouse & level, nicely woodchipped, tent spots. It's all pretty obviously marked with painted signs & little solar lights. Its adorable. We parked our bus down there since it was cold as heck & we wanted to be very close to a bonfire! This area was also more private, in the edge of the woods under the trees. We had the whole place to ourselves. We had a huge bonfire, while it lightly snowed. Beautiful.

We had a wonderful time. The view was spectacular. The accommodation suited our needs. Having to outdoor compost potty with a scenic view was a plus for outdoors camping. We had heavy rain, but we were prepared. Mike had that wonderful pizza oven that we took full advantage of making so delicious pizza. We plan on returning to repeat our adventure.
