Boom, easy explanation. Now, on to the good stuff. In Utah, the St. George Field Office manages around 629,000 acres of land in Washington County. The environment out here is pretty dang unique, because it’s situated at the convergence of the Mojave Desert, the Great Basin, and the Colorado Plateau. Some plants and animals can only be found here in this unique area. Because it’s such a one-of-a-kind spot, the recreation opportunities are just as awesome. The BLM’s website describes them as “as diverse and challenging as the desert landscape.” We’ll raise a glass (or a tin camp mug) to that description! Easy sightseeing is an option, and hiking is another favorite activity for all levels. Mountain biking, rock climbing, and even canyoneering are all excellent ways to spend your time around St. George, too.

Bryce Canyon National park is only a 1 hour’s drive away. Zion’s national park is only a 1 1/2 hour’s drive away. There are horses in corrals, my people and dog friendly dog is off-leash, and there are 5 barn cats who roam free on the property (2 of which are as friendly as dogs). All persons staying on the property will need to sign a liability waiver since it is a horse property and horses are present. My horses aren’t offered for riding but ask about other ways you can interact with them if you desire. At no additional cost you can help care for them, brush them, and learn a few fun facts about them. For a fee you can get guided experiences with them on the ground (not in the saddle), do breath work sessions with them, and learn basic horsemanship skills.

Fremont culture and Anasazi people were the first known inhabitants of the area. Petroglyphs, pithouses, arrowheads, pottery, and manos dating from A.D. 750 to 1250 found in the area are evidence that it was on a major thoroughfare of early indigenous peoples. At nearby Parowan Gap ancient people inscribed petroglyphs on smooth-surfaced boulders that feature snakes, lizards, mouse-men, bear claws, and mountain sheep. Located near the Parowan Gap there are dinosaur tracks. East of the Gap and petroglyphs hikers can discover Hadrosaurs tracks that were originally formed in non-resistant mudstone. Later, the Old Spanish Trail passed through the area. The nearby town of Parowan was founded in 1851, twelve months after Parley P. Pratt and members of his exploring party discovered the Little Salt Lake (dry lake bed) which is straight out from the property. The area was traveled by early settlers that used the nearby Red Hills to pass through the area to hide from aggressive Indians that hid in the nearby mountains that watch for them traveling on the Spanish Trail. Many arrow heads and artifacts have been found on and near the property. Later (early 1900's) sheep herders camped in the same place as the location of the property. More about this land: Wide open land up against The Red Hills (BLM land) near the small town of Parowan Ut. Beautiful vistas. Outdoor Model Train layout, Hiking and biking trails. This land has been in our family for four generations to graze our herd of sheep. Learn more about this land: Welcome to a great wide open desert retreat. Do as you please! No one is going to bother you. Let the animals loose, roll out the off road vehicles, ride bikes, and build a fire and enjoy that peaceful good outdoor life. The old Spanish trail can be found nearby for hiking and/or biking and there are mountains and cool wildlife all around in the valley. The stars all pop completely present with no light pollution to spoil them. Additionally, Southern Utah has so many other trails and beautiful places all over in almost any direction. Zion National Park is only a little over an hour drive away down I-15. I highly recommend Kanarraville Falls as well, as it's at most only 30 minutes away. *** Getting to the property: It is directly off of the "main" road which consists of a well kept wide dirt road. The GPS location will guide you straight there to an intersecting road with a stop sign called 1200 E which runs south the "main" road/4800 N/AKA Antelope Springs Rd. At this intersection, there is a trail running north marked with an orange post for fiber cable. That trail and road marks the bottom left corner of the property if you're facing north. Follow the trail and find your way anywhere on the right side, there are already some campsites made up, but you are also welcome to make your own to your hearts desire. Be mindful of your vehicle, cars can drive the trail but there is always a risk of getting stuck. You can also park on the main road as you are already at the property anyway and can just walk in a little ways to set up your camp. **It's important to be aware of any fire warnings for Iron County, Utah. Do a Google search for fire threats and it should be the first thing you see. Most of the time, large bonfires will be highly discouraged. Use good judgment when building a fire of any size. *Cedar City is a straight shot East if you need any medical attention.

This is because our intimate canyon offers loads of shade and always has a cool breeze off the Santa Clara River. Located in Southern Utah, just minutes from St George, we have 234 bolted climbing routes in solid basalt walls, scaling up to 85 feet high. Routes range in difficulty from 5.6 to 5.13, so there’s something for all ages and skill levels. You’ll find brass plaques at the base of each climb, with the name and rating of each climb. We’ve had rock climbers from more than 25 different countries climb our canyon walls here in Veyo! Add rock climbing to your family reunion, company party, or private event! There is no equipment at the property for rent or purchase. Catching crawdads is one of the most popular activities in our canyon! It’s a blast for all ages! There’s no better way to unplug your kids from the digital world and connect with nature. Our river has a much larger population of crawdads because there are tons of small, warm springs flowing into the water. This makes our stretch of the river warmer than normal, which encourages a greater number of crawdads. Bring your own gear or purchase one of our specially assembled Crawdad Catching Kits. We hand-make our own crawdad catching poles, which will surely help you reel in the big ones. No, if you come to go rock climbing in our canyon, you need to provide your own climbing equipment and/or guides. 2. How much does it cost to enter the canyon? Our all-day Canyon Access Pass is $16 per person. Check out our Discount Punch Passes to save up to 50% on Canyon Access. This includes all activities in the canyon except Camping, which requires an additional nightly fee per campsite. 3. Can I park in the Canyon? It depends. The county and local fire department restrict how many vehicles are allowed in the canyon. As a result, vehicles are only allowed if you reserve a campsite or picnic site. 4. Why do I have to sign a wavier to enter the property? Our insurance carrier requires each person to sign a Liability Waiver. All adults must sign for themselves. Minors are required to have their parent or legal guardian sign the waiver on their behalf before accessing the canyon. Our waiver is available online: Sign Waiver Now 5. Can I have a fire at my campsite/picnic site? Campers are only allowed to have fires if they are in covered fire pits. We provide a fire pit with each campsite/picnic site reservation. The Ultimate Campsite (#8) is the only site that allows for an open-flame fire because this fire pit is located against the cliffs. 6. What are your hours of operation? Click Here to see our hours of operation. Our restaurant, Lava Grill, is open daily from 11:00am-6:00pm. 7. Do you have showers? Yes, we recently remodeled our showers and added hot water. Enjoy! 8. Can I bring my own food into the canyon and at the pool? Yes, we allow you to bring your own food. However, most people love eating at our famous restaurant in the canyon (Lava Grill). We serve lunch, dinner, and snacks. NO GLASS is allowed in the pool area – no exceptions! 9. Is alcohol allowed on the property? Yes, alcohol is allowed, yet only in certain areas. Alcohol is not allowed in the pool area. However, you may have it at your campsite/picnic site. 10. Is smoking allowed on the property? No smoking is allowed in the canyon. We request that you go to the top of the canyon to smoke so it doesn’t disturb our non-smoking customers. 11. Are animals allowed on the property? No animals, including dogs, may be brought into the Canyon, with the exception of ADA Service Animals. Please see the ADA FAQ page for details on what qualifies as a service animal. Note that “The ADA makes a distinction between psychiatric service animals and emotional support animals… if [a] dog’s mere presence provides comfort, that would not be considered a service animal under the ADA” and will not be permitted on the premise. 12. Can I drive my RV or Trailer into the canyon? No, the road down into the canyon is too steep for RVs and Trailers. We’ve had many people try, but most get stuck. As a result, we don’t allow RVs/Trailers in the canyon. However, we have an area at the top of the canyon reserved for RV/Trailer parking and camping. There is a nightly fee of $35 for dry camping or parking your rig in this area. 13. Do you offer group discounts? Yes, we offer special packages and pricing for groups of 10 or more people. Off-grid cozy mountain HEIDOUT! Limited tents & RVs allowed. Cute, cozy off-grid rustic little cabin in the trees up by Brian Head, in Southern Utah.This spot would work for a family reunion or small girls camp (with tents/RV) with max capacity of about 20 people. Cabin info ($99/night + $69 cleaning fee): This cabin is a cozy 744 square feet. It's off-grid, but we have a 500 gallon water system, an electric start generator, and a propane tank. We hope to also get some solar power up there soon! It's 1 bedroom, 1 bath, and a loft. Max capacity of 8 people (all-new bedroom mattresses as of 2024): 2 in bedroom on full-sized mattress 2 on full-sized pull-out bed in living room area 2 on north side of loft on queen-sized mattress (loft ladder not recommended for those over 75) 2 on south side of loft on full-sized mattress (loft ladder not recommended for those over 75) There is a front deck and a large back deck, where multiple tables can be set up for eating. There is also a full outdoor kitchen. This cabin would also be great as a fishing/hunting base camp - Mammoth Creek, Lowder Ponds, Panguitch Lake, and more are all close! The staff at the campground were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The RV sites were very clean, and the shared facilities—such as the showers, BBQ grills, and hot tubs—were all well maintained, making our stay very comfortable. There was also a supermarket, a hardware store, and a gas station just a two-minute drive away, which was very convenient.

Rachel has a great site near Cedar City that is very level and accommodated our 43' fifth wheel without any problem. She has updated the site to have full hookups, including 50 amp electrical. While here, we enjoyed mountain bike riding at Iron Hills and Three Peaks (only 5 miles away...). We also explored Cedar City a bit. We'll be back in the future, and would absolutely stay here again. Kolob is always beautiful! It was also my friends’ first time visiting, and they absolutely loved it. A few things though ; we weren’t informed ahead of time that the General Store was closed, so we had to drive back to town (about 45 minutes each way) to grab some last-minute essentials. Unfortunately, we had to go home a day early because there was construction right in front of our campsite, which really ruined the whole camping experience. On the bright side, I have AT&T and surprisingly had signal, so I was able to call and update my family.

The views are worth not having a picnic table. When we first arrived and left for Zion in the morning it was dark so we had no idea how amazing the view was, and I was actually 2nd guessing my choice of campground. But when we returned and saw the place in the day time .. OMG WOW!! IT WAS AMAZING!! We even watched the meteor shower our last night. The drive to the main entrance is a little far, but the drive isn't bad, you're there B4 you know it. We would definitely stay here again!!
