Our latest addition! A "cowboy cabin" is a simple cabin somewhere between camping and a hotel room. Ours has electricity, heat and AC, a bunk bed that can sleep 3, mini fridge, microwave and wall mounted TV. Like most cowboy cabins, it does not have its own plumbing, but our famously clean private restrooms with showers are just a 50ft walk.
This is the perfect get a way to hold your next family reunion or special event! We welcome events on property and for a small fee can rent out our community spaces while you are a guest here.

The old Spanish trail can be found nearby for hiking and/or biking and there are mountains and cool wildlife all around in the valley. The stars all pop completely present with no light pollution to spoil them.
Additionally, Southern Utah has so many other trails and beautiful places all over in almost any direction. Zion National Park is only a little over an hour drive away down I-15. I highly recommend Kanarraville Falls as well, as it's at most only 30 minutes away.
*** Getting to the property:
It is directly off of the "main" road which consists of a well kept wide dirt road. The GPS location will guide you straight there to an intersecting road with a stop sign called 1200 E which runs south the "main" road/4800 N/AKA Antelope Springs Rd. At this intersection, there is a trail running north marked with an orange post for fiber cable. That trail and road marks the bottom left corner of the property if you're facing north. Follow the trail and find your way anywhere on the right side, there are already some campsites made up, but you are also welcome to make your own to your hearts desire. Be mindful of your vehicle, cars can drive the trail but there is always a risk of getting stuck. You can also park on the main road as you are already at the property anyway and can just walk in a little ways to set up your camp.
**It's important to be aware of any fire warnings for Iron County, Utah. Do a Google search for fire threats and it should be the first thing you see. Most of the time, large bonfires will be highly discouraged. Use good judgment when building a fire of any size.
*Cedar City is a straight shot East if you need any medical attention.

Hello, and welcome to my private horse hobby ranch. My family has lived in Southern Utah for over 26 years. This property is within only a couple miles of the Three Peaks Recreation area near Cedar City, Utah. Three Peaks offers mountain bike trails, hiking, free day use campfire sites, an RC track, ATV and OHV trails, campgrounds, and an equestrian obstacle course and trailheads. Nearby is the county shooting range as well. Cedar City is home to many more hiking, biking and equestrian trails all within a 10 - 30 min drive away. Bryce Canyon National park is only a 1 hour’s drive away. Zion’s national park is only a 1 1/2 hour’s drive away. Cedar canyon is only a 20 min drive away and boasts beautiful canyons with evergreen trees, aspens, ponds, trails, and waterfalls. Cedar Breaks National Park is only a 20-30 min drive away with spectacular rock cliffs and overlooks. Brianhead ski and mountain bike resort is also only a 30 min drive away. This is a central location with endless possibilities to go exploring the amazing outdoors.
This is a private residential property in a neighborhood with lot sizes ranging from 1 to 10 acres. There is only one RV site so it’s much quieter than a public campground. The driveway area circles around the private home so it is easy to pull your RV through to the RV pad/spot. Please realize your respect to this property and neighborhood is of utmost importance. There are neighbors with cows, geese, chickens, goats, dogs and pigs so realize it’s not as quiet as some places but still more private than many public venues. We also respect you, so please look at pictures and read descriptions. I am happy to answer any questions before you book. There is only one RV site here. You could put a tent up in the dirt but I don’t recommend it as I can’t imagine it would be very comfortable. There are horses in corrals, my people and dog friendly dog is off-leash, and there are 5 barn cats who roam free on the property (2 of which are as friendly as dogs). All persons staying on the property will need to sign a liability waiver since it is a horse property and horses are present. My horses aren’t offered for riding but ask about other ways you can interact with them if you desire. At no additional cost you can help care for them, brush them, and learn a few fun facts about them. For a fee you can get guided experiences with them on the ground (not in the saddle), do breath work sessions with them, and learn basic horsemanship skills.

Brief history of Camp Joy:
Camp Joy is a small parcel of land given to my grandmother and her sisters by my paternal great grandfather. It was part of a larger, 2,500 acre parcel that has been used for grazing sheep the last 100 or so years. As was common in those days, the male heir inherited the larger portion to continue the family business of sheep, and the three females inherited 1 acre each. My paternal grandmother fondly recalls spending her summers exploring the flora and fauna and staying overnight in a small cabin that they called “Camp Joy.” My father, also used to visit this area during his youth and has many fond memories of when the family would “Hie to Kolob.” My grandmother, being too old to enjoy the place herself, wanted to sell her portion to someone who would be able to enjoy it in this life. She didn’t believe in restricting access to the wonderful and uniquely awe inducing land surrounding Zion National park. She knew humans are just mere stewards , temporarily living off the land that Mother Nature has so generously provided for. My father and mother also shared this vision so (with his sisters/cousins permission) he purchased her share and the two adjoining lots that were owned by his aunts and combined them so we could have a place to park our trailers in the summertime. The advent of the internet and the resurgence of people wanting to go somewhere with their families to experience the peace and tranquility one can only find in the wilds, led us to feel that sharing this slice of heaven was not only economical but the right thing to do. So much of Kolob and the surrounding areas are marked off by private property, owners who aren’t even there to enjoy it 99% of the time. So we felt divinely called to offer our humble slice of heaven to likeminded individuals, seeking tranquility and peace but for some cosmic reason didn’t stand to inherit private property in the middle of one of the most beautiful places on earth. So welcome friend. We only ask, as you leave this place, to please bring with you this spirit of abundance and joy to wherever you call home.

The nearby town of Parowan was founded in 1851, twelve months after Parley P. Pratt and members of his exploring party discovered the Little Salt Lake (dry lake bed)
which is straight out from the property.
The area was traveled by early settlers that used the nearby Red Hills to pass through the area
to hide from aggressive Indians that hid in the nearby mountains that watch for them traveling on the Spanish Trail. Many arrow heads and artifacts have been found on and near the property.
Later (early 1900's) sheep herders camped in the same place as the location of the property.

Wide open land up against The Red Hills (BLM land) near the small town of Parowan Ut. Beautiful vistas. Outdoor Model Train layout, Hiking and biking trails. Lake typically has water up to 3’ deep but is known to dry up in late summer. Petroglyphs and dinosaur tracks nearby. Water on property No public bathrooms.

The land was absolutely beautiful with great views. I would definitely stay there again! The bathrooms closest to us were not very clean but some further out were in a little better condition. The roads are fine but just had to go slow as they are very bumpy and we were in a small rental car. Overall, it was a great stay and lots of room to pick where you want to stay. We ended up moving on our last night to an area surrounded by trees as it was super windy, so it was great to have the option to go wherever. Lots of fire pits already set up or lots of rocks to build your own. Again, really enjoyed it and would recommend to all but be aware of the difficult roads and not super clean restrooms. Also it was fun to see lots of cows on the land!!

The site we got was right at the end of a mesa. The view was breathtaking. The wind was intense. The stars…
We in and out on road fine.
The porta potty has not been cleaned in a very long time. Bring toilet paper.
Go up and look a Kolab Terrace.

Wright Ranch was magical. The land is so beautiful, surrounded by majestic stone formations and mesas.
The camp sites are very spaced out and all have a fire pit.
We loved this place and would highly recommend it.

Was really not expecting to have to drive onto Zion to get onto the property. What an amazing view for the sunrise and the stars at night. Also really not too far from town! Everyone was fairly spaced out and didn’t feel like we were on top of each other. Lovedddd our stay here! Will be coming back for sure.

10/10 : Views, campsites, stars, peace and quiet.
0/10 : port o potties worst I’ve ever experienced and I’ve pooped a lot of places all over the world. Hasn’t been cleaned in months, totally full to the brim full of flies. Bring a shovel and poop in the wide open.
All in all- Absolutely beautiful and would return better prepared to poop anywhere other than the port o potty.

Close to the main entrance for Zion. Full experience with the cows roaming around and mooing. The one thing I would note is the porta potty needs desperate attention.
Place is great, amazing views, great star gazing site, no cell phone service.

Had a wonderful time. Beautiful place to camp out, and youll have some friendly cows as your neighbors. It felt like we camped in Zion NP without having to deal with crowds/reservations/chaos; definitely would come back and spend more time in the area!

Property was prepped as listed! You can’t catch a better view of the stars! Be careful after a heavy rain because as stated the roads can leave big tire track divots. But any 4 week drive, SUV, or camper will handle the roads fine! Awesome stay!

Stunning views, silly cows, remarkable location to experience the beauty of the canyon and check the weather before you go! Truly is super unique and it’s more about picking your view than a campsite. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Bring your own TP, as well!
