Welcome to Road to the Sun Ranch, our quiet RV retreat in Grover, Utah, near Capitol Reef National Park. We created this site for travelers who want a peaceful place to land at the end of the day — somewhere with wide-open views, quiet evenings, and the feeling of being away from it all, without giving up the ease of full hookups.
The ranch sits along Scenic Highway 12 near the base of Boulder Mountain, about 6 miles from Torrey and approximately 15 miles from Capitol Reef National Park.
The property is a mix of open pasture, desert sage, pinyon pine, mountain views, and big Southern Utah sky. It is a beautiful place to slow down, watch the light move across the landscape, and enjoy the quiet side of Capitol Reef Country.
We offer just one private RV/trailer/van site, so you will not be tucked into a crowded campground or sharing the space with a row of other campers. The site includes water, power, sewer, WiFi, and a picnic table, making it a comfortable basecamp for exploring Capitol Reef, Boulder Mountain, Torrey, Scenic Highway 12, Fishlake National Forest, the Burr Trail, and the surrounding red-rock country.
This site is best for self-contained RVs, trailers, and camper vans. Guests need to have their own bathroom available, so we are not able to accommodate tent-only camping or car camping.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and the private setting is one of the things dog owners tend to love most. We just ask that you clean up after pets, pack out your trash, and help us keep the ranch peaceful and clean for the next guests.
For safety, open wood-burning fires are not permitted. Maximum trailer length is 28 feet, and maximum RV length is 35 feet. Class A motorhomes are not recommended. Livestock may be present in adjacent pastures during the summer and fall months, typically June through September.
The site is open seasonally from April through October. We hope Road to the Sun Ranch gives you a quiet, comfortable place to rest, explore, and enjoy this beautiful part of Southern Utah.

Capital Reef has a Wow factor. Every corner I turned I found I was saying Wow!! The small town of Torrey is lovely and full of friendly folks. Make sure to visit the Torrey Trading Post.
It is important to go to the Visitors Center to highlight all the
Points of interest. I found I missed a few because I didn’t travel far enough east on Route 24.
Thousand Lakes RV park hosts The Torrey Grill open from 5-9 (check for days). Great smoked meats like tri tip and ribeye.
Don’t miss the Etta Place Cidery!! Fabulous mead and ciders and a bartender (Elzy) who can tell you almost anything about Butcher Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Only downside is that it is FF and only has five spots. It is primitive with pack-out for trash and no water but with planning it makes a great little spot off the main path to use as a base to explore and enjoy the stars. Can get a bit windy but tent was I to the challenge. Road could be a challenge after heavy rains.

Red Rock Majesty
Capitol Reef is easily my favorite of the Utah parks. The Waterpocket Fold is mind-blowing, and the Hickman Bridge hike is a must-do for some incredible views without the soul-crushing crowds you find at other parks. Make sure to drive the Scenic Drive all the way to Capitol Gorge—walking through the "wash" between those massive canyon walls is an unforgettable experience. 10/10 would recommend for anyone who loves rugged beauty and peace.

Went in July of 2025 was very beautiful park and had many hiking trails, even thoe it had a road closed off at the time.
