Lake Tawakoni State Park Known for featuring one of the largest spiderwebs ever recorded in the United States, Lake Tawakoni State Park is a popular destination for residents from Kaufman and other cities in the area. Covering a surface area of a little under 380 acres, this state park features a 38,000-acre reservoir where visitors can practice a vast array of water sports and recreational activities including boat and pier fishing, boating, kayaking, and canoeing. Lake Tawakoni State Park is located about 30 miles northeast of downtown Kaufman and can be reached in less than 40 minutes by car along routes US-80 and FM-2728. Visitors are required to pay a $5 daily usage fee, while those aged 12 or under can access free of charge. Open year-round between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m., this park is also a popular spot for hikers and mountain bikers, featuring an extensive network of multi-use trails. 2. The land is ready to be loved by our visitors. The llamas will come to greet you and so will many more things in this wonderful place.
