Camp Chet was founded with the purpose to help people encounter God through outdoor experiences. It over 900 acres of private forested land on Whitwell Mountain, which is part of the Cumberland Plateau in Southeast Tennessee.
Take a hike on miles of trails comprised of forest paths, old wagon roads, or coal mining roads.
If you find a chunk of coal on the ground feel free to take it home with you as a souvenir.

We came to this magical place to found a self-reliant, homesteading eco-community when I retired from corporate life in 2006. It's called the Village on Sewanee Creek, named for the creek 800 feet below the bluff where we are located.
I traveled the world as a senior executive for Baskin-Robbins, Dunkin' Donuts, Papa Johns, Blockbuster, 7-Eleven and other retail franchises, making the world safe for Pizza, Ice Cream, Pancakes Video Rentals and American convenience. And I was ready for something more fufilling. I scouted for a place of exquisite natural beauty and I found it here. I bought way too much land just before the real estate bust and learned how to turn a nice fortune into a very small one.
I faced challenges and had lots of fun. Now I want to share our experience.

We build from the heart with blue prints and Deer Camp was a thought that started on the back of a receipt and grew into a 12x12 cozy cabin. We have 13 acres and we share with that Deer Camp. Only enough land has been cleared for structures so it's all wooded and every structure was built by us and is unique and one of a kind.

Truly the best weekend we've spent in a long time, if not ever. The sounds of the waterfall, birds, and gorgeous weather were absolute perfection. Grant & Becky were kind and attentive. They have built such a unique place. We loved sleeping outside underneath cozy blankets. Our dog had a BLAST. We are definitely planning on returning.

We loved this site. It has everything you’d want in a perfect campsite. Horses, running water, a fully stocked kitchen, secure and private bath/shower, creeks and trails, multiple fire pits, cute fluffy kitty, electricity. We were so impressed with the custom touches and clever functionality of the kitchen and cabin. Perfect for a group. Oh… and bonus points for the tether ball.

Very convenient to Lula Lake Land Trust.
Having the bathroom/shower was great, and the electricity & “kitchen” at the barn was nice.
I’d suggest that you still bring some of your own cookware, rather than assume everything you may want to use will be available.
Also maybe bring something large enough to warm up some water, so you can effectively use it to wash dishes; the
sink in the barn has only cold water.

Beautiful off the grid private camping area with all that you would need for a quick and peaceful get away. Loved the out door kitchen and the compost loo with the view was so nice to have in the woods.

Loved the land it was beautiful and peaceful. Sites are spread out and no one it right beside you. Stayed at camp kitchen and yurtle and we had 2 large tents and we were spread out. The camp kitchen had everything you need with lots of seating. Grant and Becky were awesome hosts. Loved Grants stories.

The Ole Place is a beautiful and quiet piece of property. We stayed in the cabin and it had everything we needed to base camp to be able to go hiking in Savage Gulf. The kids thoroughly enjoyed paddle boating around the lake and having a camp fire. Such a great place that we are fortunate that Randy shared his land with us.

Only one con: We were not told that the attached shower room was shared by the entire campground (there are tent/rv sites around the pond), so we left our things in there. One of the friendly campers brought our stuff to us. Also the shower never got hot, FYI, but the little heater in there was great.
