Awarded South Dakota's best Hip Camp 4 times. Uncle B's farm is a small 11 acre hobby farm with a large vegetable garden, chickens, peafowl, guinea fowl, turkeys, dogs, and cats. There is an old quarried stone railroad bridge and a few short walking trails around the pond. The pond is at the back of the property where I have 6 dry camp sites listed as Uncle B's farm for tents or self contained RV's. All sites have partial to full shade and most have mature trees that will work for a hammock or tensile tent. All of the campsites have a firepit, some with cooking grates and all sites have a picnic table.
The "shower shack" is shared by all guests and has 2 separate 3/4 baths with all modern plumbing. There is also a basic outdoor kitchen with a few portable grills as well as a sink with modern plumbing.
Available at Uncle B's RV Camper site I have 3 RV sites with water and 30 Amp electrical hookups.
My "Ready Set Camp" listing is a dome tent set up and furnished with 4 cots, table, and lamp as well as a match ready fire.

Originally from the city, we now find ourselves fully immersed in life at The Farm, situated amidst gently rolling land in the Southwestern Grasslands of South Dakota.
Your campsite is located about 15 minutes in from SD44, and approximately 45 minutes from Rapid City. You will be driving on a dirt/gravel road to get to us. You may want to put your vehicle in 4wd to get to your site, given the uneven terrain on the dirt road that takes you to your campground. The location is perfect for a quick overnighter, if you're visiting South Dakota's nearby nature sights and parks.
Our family lives on the property, and we're happy to help answer any questions or concerns. This is a working farm, and you may see us on the pasture, upgrading and maintaining. We're glad to share with you and happy to have you "ghost us" as we work, if that's an interest of yours. Be sure to flag us down if you need anything.
ABOUT OUR CAMPGROUND
Pitch your tent, park your RV/camper, bus or other ride on our pasture and enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the rolling hills of Hermosa, the Black Hills, Badlands and unobstructed sunrise and sunset views. Children and leashed pets are welcome, at no additional cost.

Your site is equipped with a table for you to enjoy your meals outdoors, and a nearby water spigot is available for your convenience.
Your campsite is located in the wild and rustic, sometimes windy, plains of South Dakota, and may not be for everyone. We can experience extreme weather in all seasons.
When you stay with us, you will get the experience of camping in the middle of nowhere, South Dakota - wild, raw, sometimes windy and rugged. It's an amazing experience to be had - with stunning views and a feeling of freedom that's hard to find in more urbanized locations.
While here, you may encounter badgers, coyotes, deer, pronghorn, wild turkeys, frogs/toads, turtles, voles, bull snakes, rattlers, owls, creepy-crawlers - and you may experience annoying mosquitos and flies during the hotter summer season. We have a friendly barn cat, HERO, that may visit you as well. Please don't feed the beasts or approach any wildlife!
Would you like to sample our homemade booch (kombucha)? Just ask!
As stewards of the land, we're delighted to share this natural sanctuary with you to enjoy. Stargazing on the site can't be beat, and you may even catch a UFO or alien... if you're aligned! We've had guests liken their experience here to visiting another planet. We attribute this to the unique ambiance of our home and location. Photo enthusiasts will enjoy some amazing and breathtaking photo-worthy scenery and views.
Please come prepared with blankets and sleeping bags, as nighttime temperatures can drop below freezing. Be prepared for travel and camping in sometimes extreme winter cold. Be sure to check out the local forecast before traveling. Of course, we will be happy to refund any weather-related cancellations.
If you'd like to start your day with a complimentary cup of instant coffee or herbal tea delivered to your site between 5-7 am, simply let us know your preference the night before.
We offer a brown-bag style breakfast/snack for $5, as well. Your choice of a couple farm-fresh hard-boiled eggs with Meusli, yogurt with Meusli - or an English muffin/butter, with mixed nuts.
If you have Food Forest/Permaculture, farming, gardening or Back to Eden experience and are interested in contributing to our farm - we welcome your discussions and ideas, with short or long term arrangements.
We're in the process of building a small country store on the property. Reach out If you'd like to purchase handcrafted items for yourself, or as gifts. We make shower steamers, homemade tinctures, balms, herbal oils and jewelry/gift items made from our kombucha scobies - along with organic items we make from items we collect around the farm.
We also offer for purchase items such as 16 oz. propane, children's books written by Susi (featuring our adorable Bull Terrier, Makai), half dozen farm-fresh eggs (if the chicks are in the mood), MayaMoon Ceremonial Cacao, extra basic sleeping bag, and a Duraflame firelog.
Hipcamp messages, email, and texts are the best way to reach us, as cellular reception is limited.
Help us maintain the pristine beauty of our surroundings by tidying your campsite and removing all trash before departure. "Leave no Trace" campers, please.

Downhome Country Farm is 10 acres of woods and prairie with a large garden, chickens, wild turkeys, guinea fowl, mules, horses, a dog, and bee hives in the pasture. We have two restored vintage campers that sleep 4 people and multiple tent sites. The bathroom and solar shower are shared by all guests. There are 2 sites for self-contained RV's with 20A electric available and water at some sites. 2 tent sites are available until the hay season (August) then the pasture is wide open tent camping. Horse boarding and camping available too. Each site can request individual fire rings. We have an outdoor community area that has a large fire pit, covered shelter and a woodfired pizza oven that will be in use on some weekends and by request. Local and national touring musicians are known to provide pop up private concerts some weekends and impromptu jam sessions. On occasion, we have outdoor movies and morning yoga along with great activities in the surrounding community too. Or just hang out in the hammocks and soak in that downhome country feeling. Local and national touring musicians are known to provide pop up private concerts some weekends and impromptu jam sessions. On occasion, we have outdoor movies and morning yoga along with great activities in the surrounding community too. Or just hang out in the hammocks and soak in that downhome country feeling. 1 night at Battle Creek Camping Resort
Hillview Lodge was a cozy dream home away from home. I wish I had time to stay more than one night, but I do plan on returning in the future. I didn’t use the shower, but the bathroom house in general was clean and just a minute walk away from Hillview. I used the firepit at night too, ate some s’mores that were provided + had coffee in the morning before departure from provided Keurig coffee station. Would definitely recommend to any camping fantasy loving nerd!

What an experience it was spending the night here! Loved the surrounding countryside and how quiet it was being here. The pod was small in the inside but the bed was comfortable. Enjoyed the electric fire as it provided white noise while falling asleep. The bathroom station was very clean! I had to use the bathroom along with a few other guests and since there were individual rooms, it was great. Conveniently close to Mt Rushmore NP which was a bonus for me. Then headed to Grand Teton NP which wasn’t that far of a drive from the campground. I felt safe the whole time I was there as a solo female. Definitely worth the stay!

Weekend Trip to Uncle B's Produce Farm
Had a wonderful overnight stay on the hippie bus. We were welcomed to the campground in the warmest way, equipped with hippie gear (peace necklaces & rose colored lenses) s'mores kit and campfire wood. The campground had very nice bathroom/shower and kitchen areas. Highly recommend Uncle B's for a relaxing camping experience.

We pulled up just as the harvest moon was rising and felt right at home! What a bonus to see Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore and Red Rocks right there (IYKYK) :)
Brian was welcoming, and had such neat touches to the experience. Flush toilets and warm showers to top it all off :)

1 night at Uncle B's Produce Farm
Uncle B’s Farm was the perfect stop on our cross country road trip! It was a fun, comfortable, and relaxing stay after a long drive from Chicago. We experienced an amazing South Dakota sunset and sunrise over the vast landscapes. The hippie bus was very clean and equipped with everything we might need, including citronella candles for when it got buggy outside, fans, lights, and of course fun music! Brian welcomed us with delicious fresh eggs and vegetables which we used to meal prep burritos and breakfast in the morning. He was also very responsive, giving us recommendations for our road trip and even giving us some ice packs to use for our cooler. You can tell he really cares about giving his guests the best experience! Overall it was a fun and unique glamping experience, even for my boyfriend who is resistant to camping.

The host provided all of the details in a welcome message before we arrived. This place was like the spa of camping. You could arrive with just the clothes on your back and be fine! The bathrooms were clean and equipped with soap, showers, fresh towels, and even a blow dryer! We loved the outer hobbit home appearance too— so quaint! The cleanliness and decor are top notch. At our dome site, we loved the outdoor seating area and fire pits! The s'mores kit was a welcomed treat of hospitality as well! We loved the modern, cozy, warm decor and furniture inside. Everything was beautiful! The beds are firm— which is great if that’s your preference. The bedding and pillows felt like luxury! The coffee cups and drink options were really wonderful! The A/C was great during the day and the fireplace place was so helpful when it got cold in the night! We stayed very comfortable and didn’t want to leave! Loved the communal game and grill area along with the dinosaur and alien attractions! Great place to stay with no complaints!

Where do we begin?! The host went above and beyond! You are not going to get better service from anyone more than Uncle B himself. He welcomed us with kindness, gifts of s'mores, firewood, hippy sunglasses and necklaces, hot wheels for our little boy, bracelet kits for our little girls, a word search book, and a Swiss Army knife for our teenage son. The gifts were so perfect and beyond generous! Uncle B was outgoing, friendly, thorough with explanations and just made us feel very welcomed! It rained right before our arrival, so everything was muddy, and we didn’t get to take full advantage. But, the opportunities for enjoyment and relaxation were endless. We enjoyed walking the little trails to find “landmarks” and loved the peacocks and turkeys. My husband especially appreciated the shower after two days without a real shower at other hipcamps! The game room looked like a lot of fun and the playground was quaint as well. Just seeing those things made my kids happy. The bus itself was really well decorated. We loved all the lights and the continuous (optional) 70s music was neat! Our oldest daughter said she felt like she was sleeping at home because the bed was so comfortable! We all loved Uncle Bs and truly appreciate all of his hospitality! He’s created a special place out here and he was very good to us! CAMP HERE IF YOU CAN!

A friend of mine and I stayed in the Hippie Bus for a night on our way across country and our stay couldn’t have been better. Not only did we get plenty of fire supplies to keep us up to watch the amazing view of the stars, but the round the clock 70s jams were just perfect. Would recommend all around. Brian was very welcoming and informative with plenty of stories.

Group trip
This was our second stay at Specialty Crop but this time we carved out two nights to enjoy. The four of us arrived super late our first night and immediately fell into our comfy beds waiting for us. Our 17 and 20 year old girls LOVE sharing the bed in the tiny loft 😉.
Sunday morning we were greeted by the adorable roosters, chickens and kitty cats while we sipped coffee on the front porch. It was a busy day moving our Augie girl into her dorm. We were blessed to have such a comfy place to return to. We enjoyed a lovely campfire and more snuggles from kitty cat, Chai and dog Runa before retiring a bit earlier for another glorious night of sleep.
If I had to tell you what my FAVORITE part about this place was, it would most definately be the outdoor shower. It really is amazing!! Chris, Katie and their children are such amazing hosts and we love staying with them in their little cabin.

Our stay at Uncle B’s was very enjoyable! We stayed in the Hippie Bus, which the kids loved; with its fun lights and very comfy bed. Everyone slept great! The property itself is beautiful, and he made it extra fun with trails and “monuments”. Our kids would say their favorite part was all the animals. We saw turkeys, Guinea fowl, a peacock, chickens, his friendly dogs and shy cats lol. The accommodations were more than we could ask for, and it was amazing to see how many people from all parts of the world had been there too! Last but not least, Uncle B himself was more than helpful. He’s generous, kind, full of stories and has a genuine interest in those who come to stay at his property. We enjoyed the conversations and can’t thank you enough for this experience. What a way to kick off our week-long adventure. Thank you, again!
