Plenty Star Ranch Retreat has our home, a big pole barn (RV storage), a garage/wood workshop with an attached restroom for all guests, a regular hot water shower cabin, 2 small home-built camping log cabins, 7 RV sites, 9 clearly marked tent and car-camping sites, and several water hydrants fed by our well, providing great quality drinking water. 2 pets maximum per campsite, no pets allowed when booking a cabin. We loved staying at Bear Den! Tammy and Tim are the most welcoming hosts — we immediately felt like a part of their family! As our 5-year-old told us when they went back to their house after greeting us… “They’re so nice, I wish they didn’t have to go.” :) The cabin was cozy and perfect for our family of four. We were extra impressed by the cleanliness of the facilities, and amenities we didn’t expect. Our kids loved exploring the property, seeing the stars at night, and waking up to watch the deer right outside the cabin. The location was great, and pretty central for all the things we wanted to do. Our whole family hopes to visit again, and we will tell all our friends to make a trip to the Black Hills to stay with Tammy and Tim!

Kurt is an amazing host in more ways than one. After I texted him saying we were set to arrive in our RV in the middle of the night, he gave detailed instructions on where to park. Not only that, but he congratulated us via text after he awoke on the good job of parking in the dark, since we had already left for the Buffalo Round up in our car. We reserved the site for two weeks but our son was with us and he was anxious to get home after being away for months hiking the Continental Divide Trail. We left after only five days and Kurt graciously agreed to refund us. He was so understanding and even spoke to my husband in person. The site is amazing because it is in the middle of the countryside with no other RVs. Accommodations were excellent...great wifi. We highly recommend this host/site and hope to return in the future.

Tammy gave us clear instructions to where/how to find it and was very communicative and friendly! 😊 The location is quiet and secluded, other than the sound of the neighbors clucking chickens (which I loved!), and the passing turkey and deer through the property. We had our two dogs, which I reached out in advance about having multiple dogs and she was very accommodating. We’d love to be back!

We reserved the camper site for a long weekend in September and loved our site. They are right near the entrance to Spearfish canyon and it is beautiful there. June was super responsive to all of our questions which was great. It is very peaceful and quiet and we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend. The site is concrete and there is water hookup which we loved. We have a 26ft camper and recommend backing the camper in for the smoothest transition. If we decide to come back to the Black Hills we would stay here again.

This is the first of two extensions at this HipCamp. It’s AMAZING and exactly our cup of tea. Lynn and her husband are wonderful human beings who love where they live and love hosting visitors - it shows in everything they have done to welcome guests at Rustic Rendezvous. This place is perfect for us because we want something that we can have all to ourselves and not have to see other travelers/campers or guests. Easy to find. Great directions. Exactly as pictured and described. A quaint spot on picturesque land. The cement pad is perfect for parking our adventure bikes. The dirt road off the highway isn’t difficult or long. BE CAUTIOUS WHEN DRIVING - lots of deer live in these parts and we saw so many cute fawns that still had their spots. The flush toilet, sink, shower, table, chairs, electricity, potable water, microwave, wildlife (lots of deer, turkeys and other birds), and good distance from major freeways and off the beaten path made this the perfect base camp to visit all the local South Dakota attractions and not have to worry about where we would sleep after a day on the motorcycles. There’s a perfectly flat spot for our 2-person tent and every night we fall asleep listening to the wonderful sounds of nature (owls, crickets, coyotes, and this time of year the bull elk are bugling - absolutely magical). We loved this place so much, we booked it for two more nights on top of our original reservation. Thank you L & R!!!

2 nights at Green's Acres

Very pretty and very quiet place to rest and recoup. Love seeing the cows up, close lots of turkeys and listening to the tree frogs at night. I would highly recommend anyone coming up to stop and camp there. We’re driving a class a 40 foot motorhome although it’s tight getting in we did it with no problem.

4 nights at Luxury RV Canyon Retreat

We camped there with our 25 ft RV. Nice and clean site. Very peaceful and private. Enjoyed not being in a big camp site. Site is right at the entrance to Spearfish Canyon. Would definitely stay there again. Slab is not level due to drainage reasons. Be prepared to level out RV.
