I was the first person to purchase property here in 1995 in what is known as Moultrie Plantation. This is a private property community with its own private dirt road. The plantation is rich in Civil War history and people still find arrowhead 's, Civil war buttons and other Civil War related items on the dirt roads where the soldiers marched through the plantation. It is a quiet, peaceful neighborhood where owners enjoy the country life.

Hi, I'm Curt. My wife Ani, son Fitch, and I are average, everyday nonconformists who have been running an experiment.
We'd noticed as we evolved that we felt generally unfulfilled by the direction society had gone. That our biology and our brain's wiring just didn't naturally mesh when forced to blend with the masses. We had come to learn that we are far from alone, and that made us feel a little less weird.
Still, we thought the answer called for more, maybe even drastic action if we could muster the courage. We were thinking a full retreat and redesign, but had very little resources.
Can a family use their own minds and hands, with some grit, to handcraft a home and life that felt right? That they didn't even want to vacation from? I don't know, but we decided to try. We still are. Have we done it? You be the judge.
In 2019 right before the pandemic, we left our Miami handcrafted furniture business to pursue this new goal. A project in practicality and passion. We set out to build an inspiring experience in simple, eco-friendly living and find a harmony between the helpful aspects of the modern world and the good parts of the old, that maybe society should have held tight to. We wanted to play with this idea...all while keeping it classy ;-)
At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique, functional cottages, using solar energy, composting organics, sewing and reaping, in a way that is fair to our environment. We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and harmony with nature.
Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" slow, simple living can feel. We all have personal priorities, and those will vary greatly. But within that, we can all include ways of being respectfully mindful to the earth and to our neighbors.
Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, that they can appreciate our perspectives and some of our old-fashioned ways. Our presentation at Heirloom Hamlet has been purposefully designed to be a refreshing hideaway from the norm.

The farm was once a portion of the McTureus Plantation. Tony's family members were once enslaved on the plantation. Upon Emancipation a family member bought land and it remained in the family. Tony is a descendant of those family members whose foresight allowed us to be here today. Lovely stay! Walking the massive property to see all the animals and the layout of this working farm was great. Nice shaded areas with electric and water. The nearby porto potty was ultra convenient and well kept. Very friendly and communicative host, and everyone encountered on the farm was friendly. Too it off with abundant firewood, fire pit, picnic table, you just can't go wrong. Quiet peaceful sleep, but still close enough to sights, resupply, restaurants, etc. Would not hesitate to stay again If I am in the area.

Hidden gem! The most luxurious camp site to unwind under the stars. This is camping in style. A gazebo with plush couch and pillows a fan and streaming tv Roku free live tv too. Open air shower and beautiful air condition 5 star bathroom and laundry. Sitting in Adirondack chairs in front of a fire with stars above and a water fountain below and through the palm trees. Not to mention the hot tub. I travel for work and it was a great spot 40 minutes from downtown Charleston SC. Only 2 RV/camp site and an amazing cabin. The owner has made this place to remember and a place I will continue to come back to as often as my work allows. I don’t like sharing especially if I have found a special place to unwind, relax a 5 star resort but I just could not keep this place to myself. Thank you Dustin I will continue to come back all year long. Maybe even bring a co-worker next time.

We love staying here. This is the second time staying here in our 35 ft travel trailer. The hosts are very responsive and kind.
It was a nice area for our 2 golden retrievers to be off leash (though their time outdoors was limited due to the heat and humidity).
We were able to get to everything we wanted to do very quickly including the Spanish Moss Trail, Hunting Island, Cypress Wetlands, Penn Center, Sands Beach, many trips to Historic Beaufort, and a day trip to Bluffton.
We had a great week and would definitely stay here again if we return to the area.
