My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014. Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top. Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach. When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains. Perfect! In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home. As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage, that was outside of our budget continued to pop up. Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back. At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop. On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin just because we had the time. Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy. It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right? We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer. It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim. We offered the most that we could get a loan for. They accepted! I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014. Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place. Never stop dreaming! Hope to see you soon, cheers! Learn more about this land:   Pitch your tent in the grass on the tip top of the mountain or park your camper in the flat gravel spot with a fire pit just below the top with beautiful views overlooking Cane Creek.  In the fall and winter enjoy 360 degree views and in the summer enjoy the shade and cool breeze while relaxing & snacking on wild wine berries and black raspberries.   What you will not find is light pollution, traffic, and a desire to leave the mountain.  Fall asleep to the calls of the hoot owl and wake up to the knocking of the wood pecker.       If & when you decide to explore the area, be sure to checkout Hickory Nut Gap farm just 7.9 miles away & Whistle Hop Brewery 7.7 miles away.  Turgua brewery just down on Cane Creek road is only 6.2 miles from camp.  Cane Creek Valley Farm as well as the Cane Creek Community swimming pool is also at the base of camp just in case the kids need a dip of ice cream or a dip in the pool.  Justus Apple Orchard is only 10 miles down the mountain towards Hendersonville.  We love taking our kids there.      We are only 15 miles from downtown Asheville & Hendersonville, and 22 miles from Lake Lure. Our homestead is home to our family, chickens, and a livestock guardian dog. We also have a small orchard and a garden. Most of our 12+ acres are wooded and our property backs up to thousands of acres of public forest land owned by Clemson University. A trail connects our backyard to the main network of hiking/mountain biking trails in Clemson Forest. For those familiar with the forest, our property is in the vicinity of Wildcat Technical, Wounded Road, and Chainbreaker trails. As private and wooded as our property is, we are only 10-15 minutes from downtown Clemson and less than 10 minutes from the small towns of Central and Six Mile. Lakes Hartwell and Keowee are also short drives. We currently offer a single campsite, which can accommodate several tents or a camper van. Our campsite features a composting toilet outhouse, and water is available from spigots at our house. Though fairly close to our house, the campsite has a very private feel due to being completely surrounded by a hardwood forest.

My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014. Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top. Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach. When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains. Perfect! In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home. As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage, that was outside of our budget continued to pop up. Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back. At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop. On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin just because we had the time. Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy. It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right? We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer. It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim. We offered the most that we could get a loan for. They accepted! I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014. Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place. Our homestead is home to our family, chickens, and a livestock guardian dog. We also have a small orchard and a garden. Most of our 12+ acres are wooded and our property backs up to thousands of acres of public forest land owned by Clemson University. A trail connects our backyard to the main network of hiking/mountain biking trails in Clemson Forest. For those familiar with the forest, our property is in the vicinity of Wildcat Technical, Wounded Road, and Chainbreaker trails. As private and wooded as our property is, we are only 10-15 minutes from downtown Clemson and less than 10 minutes from the small towns of Central and Six Mile. Lakes Hartwell and Keowee are also short drives. We currently offer a single campsite, which can accommodate several tents or a camper van. Our campsite features a composting toilet outhouse, and water is available from spigots at our house. Though fairly close to our house, the campsite has a very private feel due to being completely surrounded by a hardwood forest.

My husband and I loved this whole camping experience! The tent is super spacious with a beautiful view of the creek. We'd wake up to the sound of happy ducks playing in the water too. I have back problems and was worried about the bed at first, but man! It was SO comfortable. I was even able to use the swing yoga rig at the pavilion to do some decompression for my back. Vicki was so kind and very communicative with any and all questions. I also loved all the little signs that give detailed instructions for any and every thing. 100/10 can't wait to go back!

Beth and Rob were awesome Hosts, and they have an amazing property! I car/tent camped at Site 5 for 3 nights. My favorite thing to do was sitting on my "lawn", reading a good book, and listening to the creek. So relaxing. Four of the Dispersed Sites on the level below were filled on the weekend. The entire place was still nice and quiet. The outdoor shower was wonderful, and the Port-a-Potty was clean and serviced weekly. My Granddaughter is a Freshman at Brevard College, and Trails & Tails Waterfall HipCamp will be my home away from home when I visit! 😊

The Hideaway was the PERFECT spot for my pup’s first camping trip! This campsite had the perfect amount of seclusion so she didn’t run into other campsites to make “new friends,” it was right next to an open field for her get her zoomies out, and the river was still super close. John was an incredibly kind and generous host! I met him in the driveway on the way in and mentioned that I forgot a fire starter. He graciously brought a lighter, paper, and extra wood to the Hideway within minutes. On a scale of 1-5 Tents (stars) with 5 Tents being the best… I give Serenity on the Saluda a whopping 10 Tent🏕️ rating!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I stayed for three nights while visiting nearby family and needed a peaceful place to pitch my tent. (I actually prefer sleeping on the ground when traveling alone.) I was so fortunate to have chosen this spot over all the other possibilities! I stayed at the “A” site — super quiet to the point that I didn’t even need my earplugs. There were a few other campers, but they were hardly noticeable, and there was no nearby traffic noise at all. The running brook next to the tent site added a peaceful, relaxing background sound that made my stay even better. My hosts were warm and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed. I could tell they were truly in touch with Mother Earth and cared for the land in a thoughtful way. I’m already looking forward to coming back with my partner to explore more of the hiking and biking opportunities in this beautiful area.

My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014. Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top. Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach. When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains. Perfect! In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home. As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage, that was outside of our budget continued to pop up. Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back. At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop. On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin just because we had the time. Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy. It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right? We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer. It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim. We offered the most that we could get a loan for. They accepted! I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014. Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place. FREE FIREWOOD FOR LIMITED TIME: I have more split oak firewood than I know what to do with. While it lasts, campers can take as much as they need for free. The wood is piled at the site. Our homestead is home to our family, chickens, and a livestock guardian dog. We also have a small orchard and a garden. Most of our 12+ acres are wooded and our property backs up to thousands of acres of public forest land owned by Clemson University. A trail connects our backyard to the main network of hiking/mountain biking trails in Clemson Forest. For those familiar with the forest, our property is in the vicinity of Wildcat Technical, Wounded Road, and Chainbreaker trails. As private and wooded as our property is, we are only 10-15 minutes from downtown Clemson and less than 10 minutes from the small towns of Central and Six Mile. Lakes Hartwell and Keowee are also short drives. We currently offer a single campsite, which can accommodate several tents or a camper van. Our campsite features a composting toilet outhouse, and water is available from spigots at our house. Though fairly close to our house, the campsite has a very private feel due to being completely surrounded by a hardwood forest.

Nero Coffee's Camping Spot has three ways to camp. Site 1: Glamping in my custom built (and way too adorable) mini A frame cabin. This cabin is tucked in the rhododendrons for complete privacy. Enjoy the super comfy bed and unique lifting side door to let the outdoors in :) or Site 2: Camping with room for up to 8 guests. There are multiple sites and so much room to spread out for groups up to 8 people. This year I am only opening tent camping for one group at a time so you can experience the mountains in the most peaceful setting. The upper camping area has plenty of flat areas for vans, cars, trucks and tents, and if you don't mind carrying our tent down the hill, the lower creekside camping area is THE PERFECT stargazing spot. There's plenty of room to set up any size tent down there, too. basically, You have the campground to make yourself totally at home. Site 3: Simple Car Camping Spot - Just want a spot to pull over camp for the night close toDuPont State Forest? We can make that happen. No tents allowed here, but it's a peaceful alternative to a cracker barrel parking lot. ----- Once you set up camp feel free to visit the Coffee Shed - It's a small shed on the property by the house that has everything you need to make a great cup of coffee. Coffee is always free. :) I have fire pits, tables an, if I am home, I have a super cute corgi that roams around the property throughout the day. If you spot me outside feel free to say hi or ask any questions about the area. I love helping guests find new places to explore. You will be about 8 minutes to DuPont State Forest (my favorite hiking and biking area) which has miles and miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails. The entrance to Pisgah National Forest is about 15 minutes away as well so it's a convenient drive to visit the forest and drive up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I also own a company that guides "coffee hikes" to local waterfalls in DuPont State forest. You can find more about that in the photo descriptions. :) Please note!! My road up to my driveway is steep and bumpy. It’s only 0.3 miles up but bumpy. You don't need four wheel drive but higher ground clearance is recommended. (I have had small cars make it up but it is a bit intimidating if you are not used to driving in the mountains). if you have a small car just go slow. :) ------- Larger group? Want an indoor bath and shower?? If you are planning a larger group camping retreat and want to book the entire campground (including the main house with indoor shower, restrooms, and full kitchen and spare bedroom) I can make that happen for $500 a night. The trail is 76.2 miles of waterfalls, rivers, and mountains stretching from Oconee State Park to Table Rock State Park. Nestled between evergreen-covered peaks in Etowah and in the shadows of Pisgah National Forest lies Green Haven. With mountain views, rustic and comfortable campsites, and abundant plants and animals to appreciate, Green Haven is a peaceful destination to get away from it all and enjoy spending time immersed in nature and mountain solitude. Wildlife abounds in the area. Deer and white squirrels are a common sight. Tall white pines, poplar, and rhododendron shade the campsites. Enjoy mountain spring water during the winter and spring months (seasonal water supply). Build a crackling fire in the fire pit from available pre-cut wood and existing dead wood around the campsites. Hike the property on the designated trails and discover rock outcroppings, long range mountain views, fern forests, and a variety of wild mushrooms seasonal. Families, individuals, and groups alike enjoy camping here! We have 3 very private campsites. "Chanterelle" campsite has a fire ring, picnic table, and accommodates 5 people. "Fern" has a fire ring, picnic table, and can accommodate 4 people. Both sites have access to a pit latrine. The third site, "Big Rock" is a group site located at the top of the property, offering mountaintop views. Must have V6 or 4WD to access. Big Rock has a fire ring, 2 picnic tables, and its own pit latrine. A seasonal spring (Oct-July) is available on the property and a small stream, Piney Branch, that runs year round, drink at own risk (see map). There are two marked hiking trails. Please use the map to stay on property. Green Haven is centrally located 20 minutes between Brevard and Hendersonville. DuPont State Forest is 25 minutes away and it includes hiking, mountain biking, and waterfalls. Boaters will find the French Broad River, Horseshoe Bend, river access less than 10 minutes. More mountain biking at Ride Kanuga and Ride Rock Creek downhill mountain bike park 15 minutes away. The 7 mile paved Ecusta Trail from Horseshoe to Hendersonville is open, several miles away. Nearby breweries include Mills River Brewery and Bold Rock Cidery 15 minutes away.

Dogpatch Farms is a farm offering Broad River access( canoe portage under construction but usable) campsites with the goal of making camping affordable again. We aren’t shooting for fancy or flashy just a clean quiet spaces and friendly safe environment where a person or group can enjoy nature without breaking the bank. We have one space for a RV/Camper with power water and septic dump ( down by the Barndo) and only a few with power and water only ( up by the well house)($60 and $40 per night respectively). Primitive areas vary from hillside, river side and open field all of which have an indoor toilet access and outside ( soon inside too) shower. Barndo is an active construction zone as we turn it into a full facility with cooking and laundry benefits so don’t expect fancy but that’s not our goal. Expect to see a sweet dog, a goat and probably a chicken ( and even enjoying a free egg) and definitely a tractor. Have a good time but I don’t tolerate stupid and you are expected to not leave a mess like a true outdoorsman should. There is an of wildlife including beavers, turkeys( roosting in the valley), deer and such to see because of our low impact approach so observe but don’t harass. We hope to become your destination and guide to the great outdoors.

Nero Coffee is a coffee brand based in the mountains on Western North Carolina, so when you camp at Nero Coffee + Camp you can enjoy a great cup of coffee (free coffee in my "coffee shed" on property!) and enjoy a relaxing spot in the mountains. Nero Coffee's mission is to create connection between people through sharing great coffee and conversation outdoors. I started Nero Coffee in 2019 and purchased 6 acres near DuPont State Forest to share my land and create my own coffee campground to continue growing the mission. Update for 2024! Nero Coffee's Camping Spot has three ways to camp. Site 1: Glamping in my custom built (and way too adorable) mini A frame cabin. This cabin is tucked in the rhododendrons for complete privacy. Enjoy the super comfy bed and unique lifting side door to let the outdoors in :) or Site 2: Camping with room for up to 8 guests. There are multiple sites and so much room to spread out for groups up to 8 people. This year I am only opening tent camping for one group at a time so you can experience the mountains in the most peaceful setting. The upper camping area has plenty of flat areas for vans, cars, trucks and tents, and if you don't mind carrying our tent down the hill, the lower creekside camping area is THE PERFECT stargazing spot. There's plenty of room to set up any size tent down there, too. basically, You have the campground to make yourself totally at home. Site 3: Simple Car Camping Spot - Just want a spot to pull over camp for the night close toDuPont State Forest? We can make that happen. No tents allowed here, but it's a peaceful alternative to a cracker barrel parking lot. ----- Once you set up camp feel free to visit the Coffee Shed - It's a small shed on the property by the house that has everything you need to make a great cup of coffee. Coffee is always free. :) I have fire pits, tables an, if I am home, I have a super cute corgi that roams around the property throughout the day. If you spot me outside feel free to say hi or ask any questions about the area. I love helping guests find new places to explore. You will be about 8 minutes to DuPont State Forest (my favorite hiking and biking area) which has miles and miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails. The entrance to Pisgah National Forest is about 15 minutes away as well so it's a convenient drive to visit the forest and drive up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I also own a company that guides "coffee hikes" to local waterfalls in DuPont State forest. You can find more about that in the photo descriptions. :) Please note!! My road up to my driveway is steep and bumpy. It’s only 0.3 miles up but bumpy. You don't need four wheel drive but higher ground clearance is recommended. (I have had small cars make it up but it is a bit intimidating if you are not used to driving in the mountains). if you have a small car just go slow. :) ------- Larger group? Want an indoor bath and shower?? If you are planning a larger group camping retreat and want to book the entire campground (including the main house with indoor shower, restrooms, and full kitchen and spare bedroom) I can make that happen for $500 a night. It's honestly the perfect spot for private, group camping and glamping up to 15 people. Just send me your date request and I will share a link to book if your dates are available. It has easy access but the property has abundant trees and is secluded from nearby roads and homes for privacy. The interior, baths, and kitchen are updated but maintain a pleasant farmhouse feel. The host had it perfectly clean and well stocked. It has a bonfire pit and a smaller fire pit for outside gatherings and the hot tub was immaculately clean, heated, and ready for use when we arrived. Kids can enjoy swings and slides. We used it for a small gathering where about a dozen guests gathered during the day and six spent the night. Could not have been happier with property or hosts. Fireworks are legal and permitted within reasonable hours. Horses are welcome.

This site is accessed via a short trail through the trees down a gentle, sloping hill, and finally by a short stairway, and as such it may not be easily accessible for campers with limited mobility. Located on the grounds of the Duckpond Pottery, The Quack Shack is a secluded treehouse perched along the banks of the French Broad River. The structure is an 8x10 A-frame that transforms via a hinged wall into an open-air cabana with a charming deck that affords spectacular views of the French Broad River and surrounding countryside. The interior of the Quack Shack, with its vaulted 11-foot ceiling and earthen plaster walls, provides a warm glow in a rainforest environment. It is furnished with a comfortable seating area surrounding a coffee table that can be easily converted to a full-size queen bed at night. On the outside deck are beach chairs and a chimenea available for use. The quack shack has electric power (1 outlet only). Amenities include a bathroom located a short walk away at the main building as well as an open-air on-demand shower located off the bathroom on a deck overlooking the French Broad River. Morning coffee and tea is available at The Tea Hut located just a hop, skip, and jump from the treehouse. A new two person wood fired hot tub and cold plunge is now located just off the steps of the treehouse. (Contact us if you’d like to reserve it during your stay). NOTE: The Duckpond Pottery is a working studio pottery and gallery that is open to the public. It is also home to occasional open-air house concerts on the deck at the pottery.
