Here, you can enjoy an “off-the-grid” experience without giving up convenience: food delivery is still just a tap away, and last-minute essentials are an easy drive.
At Camp Moondog, our philosophy is simple: provide a carefree, clean, and natural environment for a relaxing camping experience. If we’re available, we’re happy to use our ATVs to help transport your gear to any of the campsites—just give us at least a day’s notice so we can plan to meet you.
Because the property naturally offers ample deadfall for firewood, we do not provide or sell pre-packaged bundles. Please keep this in mind if there has been recent rainfall, as the downed wood may be damp.

The setup was perfect. I was a little worried about making it down to the site with my travel trailer (27 ft) but it was doable. Plenty of space to spread out and had plenty of privacy. We would definitely stay again.

The Hideaway was the PERFECT spot for my pup’s first camping trip! This campsite had the perfect amount of seclusion so she didn’t run into other campsites to make “new friends,” it was right next to an open field for her get her zoomies out, and the river was still super close. John was an incredibly kind and generous host! I met him in the driveway on the way in and mentioned that I forgot a fire starter. He graciously brought a lighter, paper, and extra wood to the Hideway within minutes. On a scale of 1-5 Tents (stars) with 5 Tents being the best… I give Serenity on the Saluda a whopping 10 Tent🏕️ rating!

John’s place was beautiful, this was my first camping trip in a tent and it was perfect to say the least! Even though there are other sites, there is so much privacy. He also let us use his canoe which was nice Saturday afternoon to fish for catfish. Overall the trip was great and would recommend to anyone.

Getting to the site was well marked. Thank you! The area was private, exactly what we were looking for. , our firewood was waiting by the fire ring when we arrived (add on fee). We had plenty of space to spread out and we did not see other campers.
There were hunters nearby, so we stayed away from the property line. There was plenty of place to walk our dogs, and lots of room for our girls to run free. They do not roam far, so they didn't get anywhere near the hunter areas.
We visited in mid-October, and the air was crisp and there were no bugs. Quite a difference from just 3 hours further Southeast.
If we come this way again, we use Hilltop or maybe one of the river sites. Lovely area!

1st time but I will be back! John is a great host - and the site (Hideaway) was perfect!
John shuttled me to a kayak launch, and the firewood bundle I pre-purchased for 1 night easily covered both nights of my stay.
Quiet and peaceful, lots of deer, and a chill time. Not only will I be back on a solo adventure, I'll be bringing my family, too. Highly reccomend!

This was an amazing place to camp! Mike and Kelly were great hosts: so communicative and accommodating, they even started a fire for us when we got in later than expected after dark. It was very peaceful and clean, I loved sleeping next to the river. Would surely stay here again next time I’m in the area!

John and his wife were excellent host! They give you anything you need! The river tv site is very private! Even with another campsite nearby! It was like being in primitive camping in the woods! We have camped all over and are from Texas, and this was our favorite camp spot! We got to fish right from our spot! We even got to use John’s canoe!
